A wonderful 19th-century Mallorcan country house in the beautiful March valley. Finca Camp D'Avall has been converted from a farmhouse and its traditional outbuildings - granaries and barns. The work has been done with great sensitivity to the buildings' original design and decoration and Finca Camp D'Avall is now an extremely elegant and distinctive holiday home with a gated driveway.

The house is down a long gated drive from the Pollença to Lluc road, surrounded by fruit trees and palms. The wooded Ariant mountains make a dramatic backdrop with the craggy Fataritx mountain dominating the skyline. Inside, the villa is cool and bright,... with thick stone walls, high beamed ceilings, and original tiled floors. There's some beautiful antique Mallorcan furniture here, some of it original to the house.

On the ground floor there's a spacious lounge and dining room, which is reached by an exterior doorway. The long kitchen combines traditional design with the latest fittings and stainless steel appliances. Double doors lead out onto the terrace and swimming pool with views of the mountains beyond. The original 19th-century farmhouse-kitchen, with its fireplace and settle, is also still here - now converted into a reading room.

There's also a large and sunny double bedroom on the ground floor with a ceiling fan and a bathroom. Please note this bedroom doesn't have air-conditioning. There are four bedrooms on the first floor - all with air-conditioning and elegant furniture. The double bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with a bath and shower. There are also three twin rooms - one of which has an original painted ceiling in a beautiful pattern of trailing leaves with access to an upper terrace with wonderful views. There's also another shower-bathroom on this floor.

The garden and pool are really well designed. Stone sun-terraces run round a rectangular pool with a lawn beyond, shaded by tall trees. There's more shade too on the covered terrace which leads out into the garden from the dining room. There's a great barbecue-oven here and a traditional-design dining table and bench seating.

Finca Camp D'Avall is a really wonderful house with lots of historic character. It's a lovely place for a relaxing and peaceful holiday with a group of friends or family. It's in some of the most impressive countryside on Mallorca and so it also makes a good base for walking, bird-watching, sketching and cycling. The historic town of Pollença is also just a 5-minute drive from here, and the beach and sea at Puerto Pollença or Cala San Vicente are only 10 minutes away by car.
