Additional Location Information
This farmhouse sits near the top of the hill above the village of Mastiano, across the valley from Aquilea, in the most beautiful part of the countryside near Lucca, Tuscany. The village of Mastiano has a pizzaria/coffee bar. Lucca is 20 minutes away. From the house, you can easily explore the Aquilea countryside, Lucca (20 minutes), the Garfagnana region (30 minutes), Pisa (45 minutes), Florence (75 minutes), the Cinque Terre (90 minutes) and many, many more attractions.
This home belongs to our friends of 12 years, architect Lorenzo and his decorator wife Janet. Lorenzo grew up in the Lucca countryside, then moved to London, and continued his career there for 40 years. His memories of Lucca grew, and they moved to Lucca and rebuilt this beautiful property, a labor of love.

Beautiful, Modern and Scenic
Highly recommend this beautiful and modern villa. Set high on the hill with a panoramic view of the countryside. Wonderful service from James from setting up our favorite Italian meal (cooking demo) a wood fired pizza oven party to a wonderful private tour of Florence. The pool was great. Our only negative was the climb to the villa is quite steep, sharp turns and rocky at times so be prepared with your auto to make the climb.
"High above Lucca: I Live Higher Than The Second Floor"
My family and I have been expats for 18 years. We stay all over the world. Vigna Vecchia, run by James Edmunds is an absolute gem, thankfully hidden high in the hills surrounding Lucca. One of the great family debates each day was, " do we want to leave to travel around the district, or stay and just absorb the ever changing stunning views?". We did both as there is so much to see around the area. We also did the home cooking classes organized by James.
The house is great, but it is just the location and those views that draw you in. If you need a break from a hectic life, go to Vigna Vecchia.
