Situated close to the mouth of the River Ewe, Dalriada cottage is very desirable for those who love wildlife. Otters, seals and wading birds are regular visitors in the sea, over the cottage wall. The cottage has polished wooden floors throughout , all rooms on ground floor and has a large garden and patio with garden furniture.There are many walks of all grades straight from the cottage including the famous NTS Inverewe garden. Gairloch 6 miles away has a beautiful sandy beach and golf course.

Poolewe is a pretty vllage in a sheltered position on Loch Ewe.Dalriada cottage is situated in its own large garden and is fully enclosed with parking for two cars.The Poolewe?gairloch area is very popular with guests who love the outdoors and walking. There are many oppertunities to walk, climb sail or beachcomb.If you wish there are companies to take you on guided walks ,trails or kayakking.

Whilst staying in Poolewe previously, on a walk to Inverewe Gardens, we discovered Dalriada nestling by the lochside. An ideal location for a future holiday! Having just returned from a wonderful time there we feel we must comment on our stay. The cottage is spotlessly clean, warm and welcoming.The decor throughout is light and airy, the lounge comfortable and cosy with the most magnificent open panoramic view across Loch Ewe. The garden has a picnic bench and benches where you can sit and soak up the tranquility of the surroundings,and, did I mention the view across the loch? On Sunday evening Marie came to welcome us, see if we had settled in and were in need of anything.Daldiada is close to the local shop/Post Office and a lovely cafe and gift shop. At the Community Centre across the road a weekly market sells delicious produce,wonderful crafts including photography, paintings,jewellery and knitted items. Tea and cakes are available too. A few minutes short walk along the lochside brings you to Inverewe Gardens(NT).Well worth a visit whether you're an avid garden or not.There is a very good restaurant on site too. Gairloch, 6 miles distant,has cafes(for excellent coffee and cake The Hillbillies Cafe and Bookshop is well worth a visit), shops, galleries etc. The Old Inn is good for food and serves excellent beer some of which they brew themselves.But, how easy it would be, to stay at Dalriada, and soak up the peaceful ambiance, and did I mention the wonderful views??

The bungalow is situated right on the water and shares a drive with another bungalow, useful if 2 families are going away together. Felt warm and welcoming on arrival. Spacious and comfortable with large picture window in lounge for wonderful views including in our stay the daily arrival of an otter. (on the last day came ashore and ate a crab right in front of us!).
If any criticism at all the double bed was a bit uncomfortable - a higher one would give views from the bed - and the shower was weak and chilly. Would go back in spite of this as everything else brilliant.Response from Marie Macrae - 08/20/2012
