Description from the manager

Little Court Apartment is ideal for couples looking for a base for walking, sightseeing and relaxing holidays. Formerly three stone stables but now converted into holiday accommodation, Little Court is well situated on the outskirts of Porlock for people to enjoy all that Exmoor and this traditional village has to offer.

Little Court Apartment is accessed via a short drive off the main road leading into Porlock. From the allocated parking space a garden path leads you to the apartment at the rear of the owners property. Three steps lead up to French double doors that open into this apartment, which is all on one level. The large living...Read more

    Additional Location Information

Situated in a quiet corner of West Somerset, Porlock is nestled in a sheltered spot beneath the moor along the beautiful coastline - where the moor meets the sea. Often described as 'the jewel in Exmoor's crown', Porlock has a long history of settlements existing on or near the site of the existing village, with stone-age remains only a short distance away. Porlock is a working village and boasts a number of pubs, restaurants, tea rooms and independent shops.
There few more delightful surroundings than Porlock Vale, nestled at the foot of Porlock Hill, bounded to the north by its shingle ridge and breath taking views towards the Bristol Channel, and to the south by the rolling hills of the Exmoor National Park.
The Exmoor coastline is formed mainly of cliffs but at Porlock the land flattens out and a unique mile long shingle ridge and an inland salt marsh have formed. For the bird watcher this is a very interesting site as a great variety of waders and wildfowl can be seen here in the winter as well as the occasional unusual bird passing through.
Exmoor really has something for everyone, it is a place full of contrasts; dramatic coastlines of plunging cliffs, sheltered bays and historic ports, wide open space and wilderness of the moors as well as the wooded valleys with quiet trails for you to enjoy. Exmoor is a holiday destination of unrivaled beauty and interest.

Compact and well designed apartment in a good location

Left on 05/13/2013 for a stay in May 2013

Little court apartment had everything we needed for a lovely weekend away with our two dogs. It is close to Porlock village but not right in the centre and there were loads of good pubs, cafes etc close by which welcomed dogs.

Snug, well equipped and perfectly placed

Left on 03/10/2013 for a stay in March 2013

We stayed here for a long weekend. The wine and chocs on arrival was a lovely touch and the apartment is lovely for a few days. Nice to have a bedroom area and a lounge area, free wifi stopped us getting Facebook withdrawal which is always a risk on Exmoor as signal is pretty shocking almost everywhere.
The kitchenette was tiny but fine for basic meal and energy saving after all our long walks as you can reach all cupboards, cooker and fridge without moving much.
So long as you take a torch at night and you are careful walking the unlit road into Porlock you can be in the pub for a meal within 10 mins.
As always on Exmoor the lack of ambient light meant the stars were stunning on a clear night.
All in all the perfect little base for walking and eating out (or in), warm welcome, clean, comfy and snug.
Btw the entrance is not opposite the welcome to Porlock sign, perhaps the sign has moved. The entrance is on the right as you come into Porlock opposite the Porlock sign where the road splits to Bossington.
Taking a chopping board with you might help lol.
The garden is perfectly enclosed too for a dog, small but enclosed so they'd be safe and secure.

Warm, comfortable cottage, short walk from Porlock

Left on 03/04/2013 for a stay in February 2013

I stayed for 3 nights with my girlfriend, and found the apartment warm and comfortable. The wine and chocolates on arrival were a nice touch. The cooking facilities were good for a small apartment, and we were able to have a cooked breakfast and prepare packed lunches before setting out each morning. We cooked a nice dinner one evening as well. The cottage is only a short walk along quiet back roads to the local village, so it is convenient to go out for dinner and a drink at night.

Porlock and the surrounding area is very scenic. There are lots of good coastal and countryside walking routes in the area, and they are well marked out. Overall it was a wonderful weekend break.
