Description from the owner

Weighbridge House is a million pound contemporary luxury holiday rental cottage with a touch of French chic.

The North Devon and Somerset border location is possibly one of the best in England, certainly ideal for a family or group holiday by the sea. Most of the bedrooms open onto pretty private patios. There is a large balcony area that continues into the enormous living room, seemingly straight into the beach, by way of a wall of folding doors.

      Fabulous house and location

Left on 05/18/2013 for a stay in May 2013

At the end of a long winding narrow road past the local Ship pub (which is good for real ale fans and pub grub served by friendly staff) is this beautiful house with fantastic views over the inlet and stony beach. Everything was in tip top condition and the pool table in the basement put to good use most evenings before dinner. It is a pity that the brochure does not make it clear that one of the shower rooms is located outside the house and in the adjoining garage/basement - so one couple in our party drew the short straw. The dining table with 6 chairs is not really big enough for 8 and the double bed in one of the bedrooms takes up most of the width of the room you do literally have to squeeze past it - drawer storage in this room was also absent. The lounge was very comfortable with a very effective log burning fire - overall this is one of the best places that we have stayed in as a group of 8.

5 *** beautiful location, lovely house

Left on 11/08/2011 for a stay in October 2011

Stayed here for a glorious 5 days over half-term. Obviously the sunny weather helped but Porlock Weir is a charming without being twee, place, lively and friendly. Plenty of opportunities to eat out or get extra-ordinary take aways within a short stumble from the front door. The house itself is like a hotel. Beautifully furnished, spacious and stylish. The kitchen, surprisingly for a self-catering property is very well equipped with every gadget or cake tin I could wish for. The layout of the kitchen, meant it really was a gathering place with enough room for two cooks and no fights! The cinema room underneath is a boon as it is totally sound insulated. We did have one problem getting an older child to sleep as one bedroom is not enclosed and the sound drifts from the normal TV. That would be rectified on my next visit by insisting said child slept in another room. All-in-all, excellent facilities and we had a thoroughly enjoyable time there.
