“Fantastic location, but........”

Reviewed 20 May 2021

The location of Harbour House apartment is to die for. Harbour and sea views on three sides - always something of interest to see. Lovely cafe, pubs and restaurant within a minutes walk, as is the allocated parking space. Bedrooms are comfortable and roomy. Sitting room is very comfortable with what looked like new soft furnishings. However the kitchen and bathroom facilities leave a lot to be desired. My sister had stayed here previously and had pre-warned me about the lack of shower ( this is also clearly stated in the cottage details ) so I was prepared for the rubber attachment for the taps for hair washing etc. I wasn’t prepared for the fact that it leaked like a sieve and therefore was useless. The kitchen is very pokey - hardly room to put anything down in the washing up area.I couldn’t reach the switch on the ancient extractor fan - had to rely on my tall husband. Equipment just about adequate. The door on the oven gave up the ghost on the third evening midway through cooking our meal and had to be fixed by husband ( screw and washer had come out ). We are experienced renters of self catering holiday accommodation ( three or four times a year ), and are more than happy to pay a premium for great location / facilities. But, as someone else has commented, these days a quite high rental isn’t justified by the location alone. PS No milk left for us on arrival as it stated there would be. Quite awkward as there is nowhere in the village to buy any. I note the property is for sale - this probably accounts for the lack of investment.
