Lovely cottage in a great setting. Really appreciated the welcome tea, coffee, bread etc - but if you like ground coffee take your own coffee maker! That really seems to be the only thing missing in a very clean and well appointed place. Also if you have a low slung car watch the entrance and enter as far over to the right as possible- we scraped the bottom of our ordinary Hyundai 3i when we arrived.

Great. The toaster broke. The owner?( very nice)'. Replaced it the same day,!
Very cosy and well equipped. Nice to come home to at the end of a day out in terrible weather and light the wood burner.
Great local pub, The ship, good food and friendly staff.
Thank you had a great time in spite of the variable weather

Worthy cottage is a charming little cottage. It is very well situated for walking on the south west coastal path, along to Porlock Weir and Porlock or up on to the moors. Had a very nice pub lunch in the Ship inn in Porlock Weir. Recommend a walk to Culbourne Church.

We celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary at Worthy Cottage. Twenty years ago we ended up at Porlock Weir as we had made no honeymoon plans. Whilst we have been back to the areas many times in the last 20 years nothing could have prepared us for the most wonderful welcome to the cottage. Everything and more was available for 2 weary travellers. The cottage is well laid out and enjoys the benefit of a wood burning fire for a lovely atmosphere. Easy to venture off to Exmoor, great for walks on the beach and close to the local pub (5 minutes). Being next to the sea and woodlands at the same time were just a treat for us!

We had a wonderful stay at Worthy Cottage. The cottage was very well equiped with just about everything we needed. It was a lovely touch to find milk, bread and butter waiting for us as well as tea, coffee etc. It was also great to have washing up liquid, washing machine liquid, hand wash etc.
The cottage was very cosy and the setting was great. We could walk into Porlock Weir on the costal path and also lots of other walks close by. Even the weather didn't spoil our stay and we managed to visit lots of places that we hadn't been to for a number of years.

Worthy cottage is a very pleasant and comfortable place to spend a long weekend or a week relaxing and forgetting about the rest of the world for a while. I thought it would be difficult to get to, but it's very straight forward and once there the surrounding area is fantastic especially if you've got dogs and like walking. Porlock Weir is a stones throw away, with a very friendly pub that does excellent food and beer. I would recommend this cottage to anyone with a dog, or dogs, but just bear the following two things in mind. The garden is not really enclosed, and if your dog is prone to exploring, it can easily wander off. If it want's to go out at night, you'll need to go with it. There is no door separating the downstairs from the upstairs so your dog could spend all night outside the bedroom door instead of in it's bed! If neither of these two things are an issue, book now for a really enjoyable holiday.

Nice cottage but disappointed with garden not exclusive to cottage. We could not hear tv if washing machine on due to open plan kitchen lounge .very clean and comfy bed. However the sofa or one chair not very comfy if you are spending the evening watching tv.local area very nice with nice walks quite hilly but lovely location.we would go back to porlock but not to this cottage .

Cottage was very small but comfortable & very clean. Had everything you could need, including sky TV which was a fab addition. Decoration was lovely & our stay was very relaxing. A short walk to the weir which is really lovely, the views, restaurants & pub are all excellent & dog friendly. Takeaway Chinese amazing!! Also highly recommend the Colburne restaurant, georgous food, outstanding service.
The negatives are that the garden is opposite the cottage and isn't secluded which means keeping the dog on a lead unless very well trained. Also the cottage was very chilly at times in sept so I wouldn't recommend staying in depths of winter.
That said I would stay again in the spring/summer.

We rented the Worthy Cottage for 4 nights in total. The cottage was fantastic on four counts:
1. The modern refurbishments and refinements of a newly renovated home, with big TV, wifi even a washing machine.
2. The decor of the cottage was very tasteful and clearly some effort was made to create a relaxing environment.
3. When we arrived we found there was bottled water, bread, tea, milk and even butter waiting for us, which was a lovely gesture. In addition, we found lots of great information on local places, tourism and events. In addition to board games there was a also a good selection of great books!
4. the location, just a few minutes walk from the Porlock Weir
Thank you so much for a great little holiday, we'll probably be back next year! Read more

This cottage is in a lovely location and generally well equipped. You really can easily walk down to the village with good pubs and restaurant. Cottage not as clean as I would have expected - the floors had not seen a mop for a while. Downstairs quite dark but good views of the sea from the upstairs. Also tap water not potable... though they provided some bottled water for cold drinks. Read more
Thank you for your kind words re location and equipment.
We are at a loss re the comment regarding the floor. Sophie, our wonderful change over lady has been doing the work since we started letting it 18 months ago and this is the first time it has apparently not been spotless on arrival.
So far as the tap water is concerned both the manor and cottage are on a spring fed supply and the need for periodic maintenance plus forestry work which could conceivably disrupt the supply - it never has, but.. - is why we supply unlimited bottled water at no extra cost.
Far from the madding crowd

A fantastic cottage perfect for getting away from it all. Its well furbished and tastefully done without being fussy, it felt really homely and your left alone to enjoy it. A good pub is a 5 minute walk across the fields and the town of Porlock is only a 10 min drive away. I would stay here again and use The Best of Exmoor again as they were very efficient. Read more
Sharon, many thanks. Do come again. Alan & Suzi Moore
