This was the second time we have stayed at this cottage and even the weather couldn't mar our break. Lovely cottage and very welcoming, knowledgeable hosts, Nicky & David made sure we had everything we needed and were on hand with suggestions of where to walk etc. Would reccommend for anyone looking for a cozy cottage in this area.

We really enjoyed our short stay here. The owners next door were warm and welcoming and gave us local knowledge about the countryside. Following their advice we walked along the coastal path and through the woods to visit the mysterious Culbone church. This was a highlight and we wish we had had more time to explore the beautiful surroundings.
The cottage itself is clean light and airy and thoughtfully arranged. We hope to come back again.

David and Nicky, who owned Coachman's Cottage, were lovely and very helpful and considerate. They have renovated the cottage to a high standard. They also gave us good advice about the area.
This part of Exmoor is awesome and beautiful and has some attractive places to visit, particularly as you travel west over the moor and onto the Devon coast. The Welsh can be seen across the Bristol Channel
We loved it all!

Our second visit to this cottage was as relaxing as the first, and we were made welcome by the owners next door. This is a beautifully furnished, warm and spacious cottage, with views across the saltmarsh to the sea from both the living room and bedroom. The decor enhances the rooms perfectly, with sea-green panelling and kitchen units, white walls and tasteful pictures. The woodburning stove is very welcome after winter walks, as is a soak in the bath (which also has a very efficient shower over). The well-equipped kitchen includes a large dining area for self-catering, but there are several excellent places to eat within walking distance both at Porlock Weir and Porlock village. We had exquisitely prepared food in the small dining room with sea views at 'The Cafe', Porlock Weir, served by friendly staff. There are several pubs to walk to, serving good real local ales, and an excellent butcher in Porlock. I am sure we will return to this cottage, as we find the location and cottage itself just perfect, whatever the weather.

we had a gtreat time, the cottage had been renovated to a very high spec. with great reading matter and relaxed well planned furnishings and well thought out touches the place very quickly felt like home. We were very impressed by small details, like flowers and wine to greet us, accompanied by a visit from the owner - it felt very welcoming and not intrusive. my partner, an avide reader and writer, loved the books on offer and the loan of a book from a personal collection of the owners. we will definitely be going back again when the weather lifts. if we had anything to add - it would be that though the pictures of the cottage are great they really cannot do justice to how splendid and welcoming it really is.

Have just returned from a Monday to Friday stay at Coachmans Cottage and must say my wife and I had most enjoyable stay. We have been holidaying in Exmoor for the past 25 years and normally stay in the same cottage year after year, but unfortunately the cottage was sold and we can no longer rent it. No worries we have found Coachmans Cottage, it ticks all our boxes. A cosy lounge with views over the Bristol Channel the same with the bedroom. A magnificent log burner which is most efficient. The kitchen is well equipped in every quarter and the bathroom is modern and well planned. David and Nicky have put their own personal touches throughout the cottage, including a complimentary bottle of wine waiting for us in the kitchen diner. Plenty of reading material fiction, non fiction and books regarding Exmoor history. Porlock is a 15 minutes walk away either by the track at the back of the cottage or by road. Excellent Pub The Bottom Ship at Porlock Weir we can recommend. Very lucky with the weather manage to do 3 coastal walks. Culbone Church said to be the smallest church in England is a good walk you can do from the cottage and you pass the aforementioned Pub.
All in all a 5 star holiday in 5 star accommodation.

We spent 3 nights in this wonderful cottage a well earned break after Christmas. We found it to be well fitted out; everything we could have wished for was provided. It was warm and cosy and we found David to be very friendly and helpful.
The cottage is easy to find and within easy walking distance to the village of Porlock where we found great pubs and shopping facilities, all dog friendly. There is a modern kitchen with full appliances, The bathroom provides a very good shower. The bed is very comfortable and from our bedroom window we could see amazing views. There is a lovely spacious meadow belonging to the property and were advised that our dog could use to her hearts content. Excellent location for exploring Exmoor and surrounding villages and countryside.
Lovely and peaceful! We would definitely return.

The welcome by on-site owner who offered help with local information etc throughout our stay was appreciated.
Beautiful downstairs bathroom. Quality leather settee and a very comfortable bed made for a relaxing time.
A completely safe gated area in front of the cottage suited our dogs as did the paddock to the rear of the property. Lovely views and walks from the cottage - walk to local shops in 10mins.
fantastic would book again

have previously enjoyed breaks at The Stable Block & St anthony's Cottage & this cottage was also of an exceptional standard.. Well situated less than 10 minute walk to Porlock village & about 20 minute or so walk to Porlock Weir across fields & pebble beach. Ideal for a couple of any age with or without a dog( everywhere was very dog friendly, pubs, restaurants, beach even some shops!
Cottage itself was very comfortable, lovely comfortable bed, crisp white linen, soft lightweight duvet . Tastefully decorated & furnished throughout.
Owners, David & Nicky very welcoming & helpful & allowed us to share their beautiful garden although as we had our dog , Jessie with us we tended to stick to the Meadow behind the cottage which she really enjoyed chasing rabbits etc. Also of note there is a wooden bench at the top of the meadow where we would sit in the evenings sometimes with amazing views across fields to the sea & so quiet & peaceful. We really didn't want to go home ( of course the weather was also exceptional), but we could not stay as cottage booked up so we found a B&B; at Mortehoe & moved on to enjoy the North Devon coast for a few days.
Just one point , the stairs in cottage are a real character feature but could prove a slight problem if anyone had mobility difficulties as very steep & narrow but not a problem for most I would think.
Stylish comfort with sea views and great walks

Coachman's Cottage has been thoughtfully renovated to a superb standard with the holiday maker in mind. Every little thing is thought through and well provided for, so that we wanted for nothing, and felt very at home and comfortable for our whole stay.
The cottage has beautiful sea views from most of the front facing rooms, and has fantastic walks directly from the front door, to Porlock (very close), Porlock Weir, the beach and the marshes.
The property is situated in a unique micro climate between Exmoor and the sea, allowing it to be surrounded by some beautiful gardens.
The owners are warm, welcoming and have an excellent knowledge of the area.
We certainly plan to return.
