In relation to the town of Port Antonio, Ridge Bay Chateau is located approximately five minutes by car to the east of the town in Clear Spring close to Anchovy. Our famous neighbours include landmarks such as Trident Castle, Turtle Cove otherwise known as Dolphin Bay, San San Beach and Frenchman's Cove. Other attractions within driving distance of less than twenty five minutes include Blue Lagoon, Rio Grande for rafting, Reach Falls, Somerset Falls among others.

the house was very nice, very clean and well kept, and very inexpensive. there were 2 large bedrooms and 1 small bedroom with a single bed. there is also another smaller house on the property that they rent out. we stayed over christmas, and they even decorated a christmas tree for us. the owners are very nice people. all in all, no problems at all.
port antonio is beautiful, and there are many beautiful areas to visit around the little city. the house is about 10 minutes outside of port antonio.
if i go back to port antonio, i will definitely return to this vacation rental. -

My husband and I very much enjoyed our stay at Ridge Bay Chateau. It's in a great location right across the street from the water with a great view from the large private front deck. This deck will be perfect for weddings once it is completed. Max and Gary are fantastic people and were a pleasure to meet. They were very helpful and communicative.
We stayed in the 3 bedroom cottage and had the whole place to ourselves. We didn't use the services of the cook or housekeeper, but cooked ourselves instead which was very nice. The fridge and freezer are large, so you can buy plenty of groceries to fit in. The master bedroom is spacious with a large comfortable bed and air conditioning to keep the room nice and cold. There is also parking space outside. We felt very secure with our car here the entire stay.
The attractions in the area are very accessible from the cottage. We went to the Rio Grande for river rafting, Frenchman's Cove for the beach, and Somerset Falls to kayak underneath the waterfall. I highly recommend doing all of these things. This area of Jamaica is truly beautiful and not overrun with touristy resorts.
Ridge Bay Chateau offers you a wonderful Jamaican experience. I would recommend it to anyone staying in the Port antonio area. -

Relaxing Stay

We stayed at Ridge Bay this pass week. The location is just beautiful and 5 minutes away from everything. This location made accessing attractions in Portland hassle free.
We felt at home the moment we got there, the house had a very welcoming feel. All our meals were prepared by our housekeeper Marva who was a delight to be around. We would wake up and have a chat each morning as she prepared breakfast which was excellent everyday , not to mention the delicious Dinners.
The owners emailed us everyday until arrival to make sure all is well and that our request were met. She also welcomed us personally to the house which was a plus.
Our group was four adults and an infant and we all agree we would definitely visit again. -

We had the best time at the Ridge Bay Chateau. This is a roomy, comfortable house with all the amenities. The pictures are absolutely accurate. The view was gorgeous, the privacy legendary and the location is perfect. Max was very helpful and hooked us up with some very knowledgeable guides. We did not hire a house cleaner and had no need for a cook, since we wanted the privacy and also the opportunity to shop in town. If you want total independence then this is the place for you.

Port antonio is a wonderful slice of true Jamaican culture and the Ridge Bay Chateau is a perfect base from which to explore it. If you prefer to meet and mingle with residents rather than follow the crowd on a structured tour, this is the place for you! Our family of six (grandparents, parents and school aged children) stayed at Ridge Bay Chateau for a long weekend and had a wonderful adventure. The location and view are ideal and we wanted for nothing more. We are barely home a day now and thinking about when we can return. The place is well appointed, clean, and comfortable inside and out. The gardens and decks are amazing and the bedding is terrific. Everyone associated with the Chateau is warm and friendly, caring only that you have a great experience.
Maxine was instrumental in helping us accomplish all of the things we wanted to do within the few days we had. She connected us with terrific guides, suggested locations, and advised us on travel routes and what to expect. She even waited to greet us despite our travel delays and called to be certain we were happy and having fun. Everything was perfect and it was because she sincerely cared about our experience and saw to our needs. I would be remiss to ignore the Chateau's housekeeper/chef, Marva's, contribution here. She prepared amazing jamaican foods for us, navigated the markets so we could go to the beach, and provided a perfect balance of service and companionship. It was never strange to have her there with us-- she would fade into the scenic background, but appeared smiling the moment someone needed her. She is such a delight and her food is delicious! Wow! Ridge Bay's soothing ambiance provided the serenity that I needed. The warmth that the cottage offers allowed me to return to the Jamaican "No Problem” frame of mind. I turned off my cell phone, the internet, and I enjoyed myself reveling in reading, listening to music and walking. Ridge Bay is the ideal place for anyone who seeks spiritual awakening from Mother Nature. My friend and I shall surely return there soon.

I will certainly return to the cottage on the hill! I actually feel sentimental about the place. The location is awesome, the service by Mavra outstanding and the connection made with Maxine is like an enduring friendship for sure.
All details with the reservation were thoughtfully addressed and made smooth for me. I'd never used Pay Pal and Maxine helped through that process. She was prompt with any correspondence and very patient with my numerous questions about the place, what's nearby, how to get there, etc., etc.
She allowed me to cut foliage and flowers so I could make flower arrangements, which I love doing wherever I visit. The house is really special with two newly remodeled bathrooms that I wish I had here in the States! The master bedroom with huge king bed made me feel like a queen indeed! My companion had one of two other bedrooms and that was also comfortable and made special. I thought I'd get to do some sight seeing which Maxine would have been willing to help, instead I just wanted to totally unwind, sunbathe on the upstairs deck and just be there in all the beauty of the location looking out at Dolphin Bay and being there in the moment.
I do plan on returning and staying alot longer than the 2 days I'd given myselfthis first time. If you want to travel without all the touristy hub bub and want to really connect with Jamaica, this is the way to do it. I will get to know the area next time by staying close to a week @ the smaller cottage just below the main house cottage. I love Jamaica and this experience draws me there again - this coming summer as a matter of fact!
Thanks Maxine and Mavra for an unforgettable experience. As mentioned to Maxine, I felt like I woke up in my home on a Saturday morning where I could linger and enjoy. I feel blessed! -

The cottage was ideal place to relax with family & friends,open veranda overlooking the serene,calm ocean is refreshing to the soul.We watched the most beautiful sunrise while sipping into a pure Jamaican blue mountain coffee.The saying in Jamaica "once you go , you know" proved true.Lots of other great places near by for a day trip.We watched sunset at Norma's by the pier...great foods.The cook at RBC makes real, authentic Jamaican foods,lots of variety...Come and see it for yourself, you won't be disappointed...

Just looking at the pictures of Ridge Bay Chateau brings nostalgia from my recent getaway! Just like the breathtaking view that can be seen from Ridge Bay..the interior of the villa is just as enchanting. I enjoyed every minute of my stay at the villa. You can't help but fall in love with the scenic beauty of the lush parish of Portland and Ridge Bay wets your appetite very well! It is just minutes away from some of Jamaica's most exotic beaches and even the "city" where just chilling at the Marina all felt heavenly. Ridge Bay is one of those places where you can really just kick back, relax and enjoy..all you need to do is get there and everything else will just take your breath away.

Don't even think about renting anywhere else. Ridge Bay Chateau is all you need. Whether you are alone, with your spouse or the whole family. This is true Jamaica. Quiet, secluded, overlooking the ocean, all conveniences close. Port antonio is a friendly town close by with all amenities.

Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts - good attention to detail - mosquito nets artfully arranged; comfy seating on the porch; board games and current Dvds (for restless teenagers!) Very conveniently located within easy reach of the main beauty sites (blue lagoon; frenchman's cove and the awesome reach falls). What did we like best? the sense of being connected to nature - the elevated position made it seem as if the house was floating on its own little island. What did we like least? Leaving!

I've been a guest at the Ridge Bay Chateau a few times and will definitely go back again and again. The price is extremely reasonable for a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom house and the other places that I've vacationed cannot compare. I can bring a group of friends and family and have a memorable weekend escape from reality. It's currently my favourite vacation spot and I only wish I had the time now to go back.

From the very first email to Ridge Bay Chateau to the good-bye at the airport in Kingston, the owners of this wonderful home-away-from-home made our vacation spectacular! The warmth, hospitality and professionalism were top notch. Ridge Bay Chateau is a gorgeous property with an incredible view. It was a sheer joy to wake up there every morning. The view and veranda were awesome but the real jewel was Marva our helper/cook. I am still dreaming about her culinary creations. I highly reccomend RBC and of everthing I've seen in Jamaica, Portland is the absolute best there is!
