This super nice efficiency has been totally remodeled and is the perfect place for a wonderful getaway. The unit has a full kitchen with everything you wil need to cook your catch of the day. There are two full size beds, a sitting area with a nice sofa and a table that seats four. There is also a full bath. The private balcony over looks the beach and all its beauty. Come relax in this beachfront gem! This unit is pet friendly and smoking is permitted outside only.

We were very happy with at this rental. Perfect view of the ocean, comfortable beds and furniture. Nice interior design, aesthetics and color details. The private balcony was perfect. The only problem we ran into was internet and cell phone reception. We will be returning! thank you!

We got to the condo at 5:00pm and it was completely trashed from the previous group. Management did not give me a discount of any kind. The dishes were dirty and in the dish washer. The only good thing was the location bc there was beach access near the condo.

The property was nice. Pool was not heated, very big disappointment. Could not swim even though the weather was nice enough. Condo was fine, no complaints there. Fridge door was rusty, but was a new fridge. Just looks bad when you first walk in the door. All in all it was a nice stay!

The space was a little smaller then the pictures show, but for only 2 people the space wsa big enough. We were just expecting some seperate living spaces. The appliances were a little rusty, but usable. The over head light in the kitchen and one of the overhead sinks did not work either, so we had to make due with the light that we had. When we called for a late check out, like we were told that we could do at check in without a fee, we were given a hard time by another rep in the office. After arguing for a bit with me on the phone I was told taht they would do it, that they would probably get in trouble but they would do it. It was the way that the office representative said it and the words that were used. The communication can definetely be better in the office in order to not affect the guests. Our stay was very nice, but with the way that it ended, we would definetely consider staying some place else.

Great little condo with a straight on view of the beach. Close enough to hear the gentle crashing of waves at night, with a nice boardwalk for the short walk across the dunes to the beach. A+ exceptional service from the management and staff. Highly recommended!

We stayed for 2 nights at a discounted rate (off season). I was pleasantly surprised by the view from the balcony and the cleanliness of the unit. The beds were a little small (I think they are full size) but other than that we had a great stay.

The condo is located right at the beach, great view!
There were fleas in the condo, made for a terrible nights sleep.
Office staff wasn't very helpful regarding the matter and
no financial compensation for the loss of sleep/comfort. We ended
up not having bedding during the stay, to prevent flea bites. -

This cute condo was the perfect size for our girls trip to the beach. It was surprisingly close to everything, beach, pool, eateries. The best part about it was the booking. Extremely easy to book, pick up keys and drop them off when your done. No hassle, no waiting in line and you can see when its booked without calling. Very pleasant stay, I will DEFINITELY stay here again!

Great visit, enjoyed the stay and overall great experence, our 4 or 5 trip and 2nd time to use Port A escapes. WE will do this again. down side is the complex is showing its age and the staff doesn't clean under beds (at all). And I am from Minneapolis Kansas, not Minnesota.

We could not hear the ocean or see it over the dunes. That was something that I misssed. The light in the kitchen was not working properly, nor was the oven. But over all we had a great time.

The condo was nice and well equipt. I did not read all of the emails to find out that the people at the office on site does not manage all of the units contained within the complex. My mistake, apparently some of the condo owners don't use the staff in the front office of the complex. If you are one of the unfortunate souls that do not catch this detail you will be treated in a very rude fashion. After you take enough abuse and disrespect they will tell you where you need to go to get keys for the unit that you rented. When you finally contact the right people they are very helpful and courteous. The people on site will treat you like trash if you rent a unit they do not manage. I would stay there again if it were very clear and suscenct as to whom I need to contact to obtain the keys and whom I should pay. I clearly understand why some owners do not use the onsite management facility/staff.

Our time on Port Aransas was enjoyable. Our stay at Sounds of the Ocean 147 was pleasant. The location and view were great! Although it didn't harm our visit, the shades of the doorwall and window need to be repaired or replaced as well as the heat/AC unit. As we don't have pets, the lingering pet hair from the previous occupant(s) was a nuisance. We will be returning!

The location of this efficiency is superb. We didn't see any location on Port Aransas that we would have preferred. The Island Retreat staff does an excellent job of maintaining the grounds. The efficiency itself is attractive but had several things that did not work particularly well, i.e. blinds on window and door did not work at all, the dish washer did not work effectively, screens to the balcony were torn so bugs could get inside. We tried the a/c once and it didn't appear to be working. Fortunately we didn't really need it so our a/c experience may not be a fair evaluation. Overall we greatly enjoyed our stay at the efficiency and would recommend it to others.

The location was great. the patio and mini blinds were broken, the phone did not work and the air conditioner unit did NOT work and mostly it was very very lound. thank goodness it was not summer. i think what ticked me was the rules we as renters have to follow are the same rules the mgmnt company should follow, if we have to keep everything perfect, everything should be perfect when we check in. the gentleman that was working in the office on the property was rude 9am 11/25/11.

Deep in the heart of Island Retreat is where you will find this efficiency condo. It is perfectly sandwiched between the pool and the beach. Although small in square footage, this property offered comfy beds, well appointed kitchen, spacious balcony and flat screen TV. Yes, the A/C unit labored to cool the condo and really never got chilly. However, an easy fix would be to replace the plastic window blinds with blackout drapes offering insulation from the heat of the the sun and adding a welcome escape from the blistering bright sunrise. If you plan to cook, bring your spices, coffee filters and foil. We will absolutley stay here again.

Not a negative, just a heads up. Bring coffee filters, salt, pepper, ANY condiments you'll need. Great property, welll kept grounds, pool is nice. You can't hear the surf - the A/c noise on the deck/patio drowns out any "nature noises". You can see the
gulf, but not really the beach per se. The dunes block the waves but overall it is a good view and good location. My dog and I had a cery NICE stay. -

Property in a great location, close to the beach Boardwalk, swimming pool, etc. The wifi was a challenge in that it required a login almost hourly, quite annoying. There was a large disconnect between the leasing agent and the property manager as the leasing company told us 2x that we did not need parking and pool passes but the property manager told us that we did. Overall, we loved our stay and the property was convenient, well taken care of, and in a great location. The wifi and the disconnect between the managers was a minor inconvenience.

There were sugar ants in the kitchen that need to be taken care of. The faucet in the bathroom is dripping. The caulking between the bathtub and shower wall needs to be rechaulked.

#147 is very clean, nice, but way over-priced compared to similar efficiencies and one bedroom units managed by Island Retreat. Port A Escapes told me there were no discounts for April when I booked, but the internet offered 20% discounts for April on 4/5/11 when we were there. Office said they "would look into it." I have not heard from them.

This condo was awesome. I really was happy with my stay in 147IR. It had all ammenties.The kitchen had everything. You have a little housekeeping to do before you leave but it is well worth it.
Staff didn't tell me which condo I was staying at so I had to do some hunting for what I saw on the internet.Lesson learned..make sure you ask what is the exact name of the condo before arriving, especially after dark.
Overall this is a great place to stay and I will seek it again when I come back to Port A. -

My wife and I live in Austin. We have friends in Port Aransas and visit frequently. This condo offered by far the best value and experience we have had down there. The condo was immaculate, had an amazing deck facing the beach and ocean, and the grounds were very well maintained and perfect for exercising or small dog. We plan on booking with Port A Escapes again.
