StoryBook Cottage is a wonderfully unique seaside retreat furnished with antiques and collectibles from a bygone era. It has been lovingly restored by the present owners in a shabby chic coastal style with hardwood floors, leaded glass transom, exposed beams, beadboard walls, glass front cabinets, ceiling fans everywhere, and faux painting, but also with today's modern conveniences.

It features 2 lovely bedrooms with hardwood floors, a full bath with aged wood doors and tub accents, a fully equipped kitchen with exposed beams, tiled counters and floors, and a breakfast bar, a living and dining room with hardwood floors and beachy antiqu...e chandelier, utility room, and a fabulous 10' x 40' screened porch filled with an antique wicker couch and rockers, 2 ceiling fans, a porch swing, and antique dining table and chairs -- perfect for a sunset margarita! Vintage charm radiates everywhere, and there are treasures to see in every nook and cranny throughout the Cottage.

A fully enclosed private outdoor shower, backyard patio and picnic table, WiFi, and TV are also available for your use as is a BBQ grill.

Desirable Old Town location so convenient and close to everything! Walk, bike, or drive your golf cart to nearby harbor/marina, fishing docks and piers, restaurants, shops, ferry, Civic Center for fishing tournaments, grocery, and convenience stores. The Library is just 2 doors away.
Parking is off street parking down the driveway in the back of the Cottage.

  A good end to a bad start

  Things didn't start well. The web site showed the rates to be $165/night from March 1 until some time in May ("peak season") when they went up to $185/night. But when I called the owner to make the reservation I was told that the rates were $240/night. I quoted the web site rates and I was told that the peak season started March 1, and that most places charge a lot more than that because we were so close to Spring Break. I could have said "No" but opted to accept the $240/night rates and made the reservation. The confirmation email was emphatic - no early check-in, which was 4pm, and included instructions on how to enter the cottage. We arrived at 4:40pm only to discover that we could not get in. I called the owner - he in turn called the manager and reported to me that she was on the way and would be there in 20 minutes. Thirty minutes later she arrived and let us in. From there on, it was great. While the single bathroom was inconvenient for two couples, and we had forgotten how "small" a double bed is, we made do with minimal problems. The house was clean and well-maintained. The front porch was a great place to have a glass of wine in the evening and when it got too cool outside the living room served us just as well. It is an easy walk to the marina and ferry landing area and only a mile to the LeonaBelle Turnbull Birding Center - in case you're interested in birds!! All-in-all an enjoyable stay - just don't believe what the web site says about rates (I checked again just now - the site still shows $165 / $185)

  In response to the rates for StoryBook Cottage, our rates were $165/nite Low Season for 2011 and were $175/nite for Low Season in 2012. Spring Season starts March 1, 2013 and goes up to $185/nite. However, Spring Break is the first 2 weeks in March (colleges and universities all over the country vary on the timing for Spring Break, therefore, we have a 2 week period to accomodate that). Spring Break rates are higher as are all major holidays which is consistent with vacation rental pricing all over the Island. Our High Season begins May 24, 2013. Our rates for 2013 have stayed the same for all seasons as they were in 2012 and are clearly reflected on all websites.
  
  Also, we have apologized for the delay in getting into the property. We had a brand new property manager and this actually was her first time for opening. We have corrected that issue with her.
  
  We do pride ourselves on taking care of any and all issues with guests. Fortunately, those have been extremely rare and dealt with as promptly as is possible.

  What a wonderful home to be able to stay in during our visit to Port aransas. Everything in the home is just as it is described. The aC had been turned on and the house was cool and comfortable upon our arrival. The location is great. It is close to the shops, dinning, beach, parks, and fishing yet just far enough off the main roads so it was peaceful enough. Will definately be back.
