San Antonio, TXLocation is great.
Left on 06/11/2013 for a stay in May 2013
The home is older but well laid out. It has a large kitchen and is pleasantly decorated. The location is amazing, it is just beyond the dunes. The sound of the beach reaches the patio and it sounds wonderful. Those are the good things.
Since it is the lower level of the house, you have no view of the water, but a great view of the dunes right in front of you. There is a boardwalk right beside the patio with heavy traffic. You can see the whites of their eyes as they constantly pass and stare at you to see what you are doing on the patio. Lol. The upstairs unit's patio is right above, with a slatted deck floor. You cannot talk on the patio without being overheard. There is no privacy. No internet or cell phone reception.
Coming in from the beach, covered in salt and sand, none of the outside water hoses work. You must walk through the house to rinse in the shower. Then the house is full of sand.
The bed is horrible. Both my husband and I woke up the first morning with back aches.
This home needs many little upgrades to make it comfortable, like a new mattress and a way to rinse off coming in from the beach. Possibly a trellis to provide a tiny bit of privacy from the constant parade of people, would help tremendously. We love the little community of houses on this road. We will try a different one next time, but not this one again. -

Left on 05/20/2013 for a stay in April 2013
What a great time we had. This is the perfect spot for Sandfest. We walked down the drive way to the middle of Sandfest. The property was clean, spacious for 4 females to get ready. It was great to open the back door and front door the let the sea breeze thru. Being a downstairs unit we did have some problems with r upstairs neighbors. I have stayed in upstairs units and always try to be aware of the people below, it's their vacation also and you should try to be courteous as you can. Have already made reservation for my summer vacation. It is a great place

Overall we had a great stay. The place was clean when we got there, it's like an apartment. We stayed during 2013 Sandfest and the convenience of being right in the middle of everything was great. It was nice to be able to open back door and let the breeze come through. My only complaint is we where in the lower unit and the people in the upper unit were not very considerate. I always stay in an upper unit and with that you should always be considerate of the people below you. My husband and I will be celebrating our 7yr anniversary this summer and we plan on returning to in the upper unit. You just can't beat the view.

We stay in Port a every april for my sons birthday.
This year was nice because of the location, sadly that was it.
It listed as having a queen bed and fold out couch,
To me that means we could sleep on the fold out couch,
That's no easy with no extra bedding!
Sleeping with my husband, myself, my 4 year old
and 5 month old made for not much sleep! Along with
The bedding being torn up from what I'm guessing
Was someone else's dog!
I was sadly disappointed and uncomfortable this visit. -

Left on 03/28/2013 for a stay in March 2013
We were happy that we stayed at the Sea Shell during Spring Break 2013. Our neighbors upstairs were friendly and we did not have any problems with noise.
We walked down the drive-way and crossed the street to enjoy beautiful sunrises on the seashore. We had aC/Heat control, comfortable bed and pull-out couch, hotel towels and soap were handy in the bathroom, good TV, able to cook meals, and outside water hose. We decided we could make do without a fuss for the spotty cell phone service (just moved around the house for service or waited until we went to town), ice maker didn't produce (ate one meal out and asked for take home cup to use the ice), and the coffee maker should be replaced (daughter boiled the coffee grounds in water and then strained it back into the glass container using the coffee filter) we laughed as we enjoyed our cup of coffee...imagined it as camping out! It was our first trip to Port aransas and we'd come back to stay at the Seashell! When we checked out we reported the coffee maker didn't work, so they probably have already replaced it. We're serious morning coffee drinkers and still were able to enjoy our coffee in pa! -

The property is cute, spacious, enjoyable and relaxing outside, lots of room for BBQ and the dog to run, but just a 100 ft walk to the ocean! We will stay here from now on when we visit Port a. Thanks Guys!

I was hesitant to stay in this rental, due to its "look" but the fact that it was right at the beach won out. When we opened the door, it was perfect. The house has been remodeled and was just the right size for 2 of us. We rode out a bad thunderstorm early one morning with no problems of flooding. It has the quirkiness of an older home with the air conditioning but that added to its charm. Our neighbors were 15 fraternity boys and yet we never heard them, unless we were with them on the beach :)

My husband and I came to your area to get married. We stayed in a different Starkey property the first day we got there then moved into "Seashell" and stayed two days. The first property was nice, a bit pricey but it was nice. Had HUGE problems with the lock on the entrance door. Seashell was cozy, accomodating, and we walked out the front door and straight to the beach, met our mimister and photographer and got married right there! It was beautiful. Check in time is alot later then I needed it to be, I needed to check in so I could get showered and get ready to get married! I called the office and they let us check in early which was greatly appreciated. My only complaint was PRICE. The base price was high enough, but then you add all the additional charges and its quite rediculous. I've stayed at nicer in Vegas for cheaper. If you ever need a photographer for your beach wedding, contact Dick Witliff in Corpus Christi, he did a super job, and was reasonable. The staff recomended Ginny moss which I called several times and she never responded to me.... All in all It was nice, but on our 5th & 6th days we stayed in a condo a couple doors down that was just as nice, newer and ALOT cheaper.

worth the price for being beach ready. Nice sized place w/ great porches & conveniences. It does indicate a 1 bedroom, but there is no door to the bedroom, it's an open foray, so if you were looking for privacy from the others staying w/ you, this will be a little complicated, but not impossible w/ the folding screens and beachy decor they offer. Lots and lots of room in this place. Only concerns were the off n on wireless service, it was definately like the "...can you hear me now..." commercials, and had to move around to get internet connection. Then our cable tv went out, after a long day at the beach we looked forward to a little quiet time in the room w/ a good movie before doing the moon light walk. It took over 3 hours and 3 calls into the mgmt company to get it back on. The property mgmt company indicated they had to get that arranged thorugh the owner, who was out of town. (don't know, but we thought that's why mgmt. companies were hired. To handle those mishaps, oh well...) Still loved the place. We were there for the beach and that's just what we got!

We thought the location was great, but the kitchen was not stocked well. Not a single filter for coffee maker, very few knives for prep, no corkscrew to open wine.
Also, the house had a very musty smell, probaly from being closed up or just the coast . Needs new pillows, the ones in the house were sout smelling.
But,all in all it was good stay and would do again. -

Left on 08/30/2009 for a stay in August 2009
We have been coming to Carol's for about 8 years now. Seashell has improved in that it is cleaner and the furniture is nicer. Since we usually cook most of our meals while there, we'd like more dishes and glasses as well as a larger pot. Other than that - we love Seashell!
The thing we like best about seashell is the walk to the beach. The worst thing about seashell is that it isn't ours! -

Our stay at Sea Shell was wonderful! You just can't get any closer to the beach! The home was a little musty smelling, but equipped with everything you need! We are already planning our next trip back....on an off time though when it's not as busy!

The place was clean on the inside, but the pillows under the pillowcases were yellowed and had stains on them. I had to find decent ones from the closet next to the bed before I could sleep. Also, The bed was not comfortable at all. Outside on the carport, the view to the ocean was obscurred due to the broken and dirty plexi-glass. If these items were fixed, it would have been a perfect stay.

While a little rustic and not as fancy as some other condos, you can't beat the beach access. You actually have to drive down the beach to get to the beach house. Once there it is a short walk down the drive and you are on the beach! Being on the first floor, the view was limited. However there are two other beach houses there with better views if that is important.

This is the second time that we stayed in a vacation rental home instead of a hotel -- and it was perfect like before but alot more reasonably priced. Closer to the beach, it could not be. The sounds and sight of the beach and sea resulted in an atmosphere of peace and tranquility. A vacation of true rest away from it all. We were pleased to
learn that the pictures online matched the home. Everything we needed to stayin the house, was available and functional, yes well equiped. We'll try to be back next year. -

Left on 11/11/2008 for a stay in July 2008
We spent a wonderful week at 2122 On The Beach. It has all the amenities needed for an enjoyable stay. It is right on the beach, behind the sand dune, a major plus, has a back patio with a bbq grill.
Has a front patio to sit and enjoy listening to the waves and to view the moon and stars and feel the breezes at night Kitchen is fully equipped. Pet friendly is another plus.
We usually stay in the 2-bdrm house next door, but since it was just 3 of us and 1 dog this time we stay in the 1-bdrm.,
which was perfect. It has age, but it is
perfect for the beach. Rent the dune buggies, it is fabulous to drive up and down the beach and all over the town.
We come here every year. We just love it.
The owner of these properties is very sweet and kind. -

This is the bottom floor of a free standing house set just behind the sand dunes on the beach. You drive up the beach to get to the house.
If you're looking for some privacy and a great location, you almost can't do better. You're not stuck in a massive condo building--you're in a house. I loved this.
You can walk to the beach for midnight strolls, or spend a day at the beach and be able to quickly walk back to your house if you forgot something.
The beach where this house is is quite wide with good sand and is kept clean. It is superior to the beaches to the south where city/county maintenance ends.
The house itself is quaint--it has a few years on it, but I didn't mind at all. There is a slight musty smell, but it didn't bother me. My wife just sprayed some Lysol.
The kitchen is well stocked and large. The living room is nice, too. Best of all, it has DSL so you can get on the Internet.
We enjoyed our stay. -

This house was perfect for our family of three. We wanted a special trip for us and our little 4 year old son before the birth of our daughter, and it was perfect. He loved being so close to the water and when he was tired, all we had to do was walk back to the house. Right on the beach and clean. We plan to make this an annual family tradition!

We stayed at Seashell in October 2008, and had a Wonderful time...
The location on the beach is great and it's close to Port Aransas and the unit is cute as can be inside. We stayed a week and were sorry to leave.
Starkey Properties were very accomodating...the dvd player wouldn't work and they went out and bought a new one for the unit that same day.
We'll stay there again! -

Hutto, TexasGreat spot for a family vacation!!!
Left on 10/30/2008 for a stay in June 2008
The time we spent in Port Aransas was one of the best family vacations we have had. The location of the rental was absolutely perfect...right on the beach and easy access to all amentities.
The condition of the rental (cleanliness) was fantastic...the only complaint was maybe around having some better "cooking" equipment (pots and pans), along with a larger BBQ.
In addition, the Starkey Property folks were an absolute pleasure to deal with...and very prompt in responding to questions and/or addressing any issues. For example...we had some trouble connecting to the internet...called the Starkey Property folks...and within minutes we had the necessary information.
I would highly recommend this rental property. -
