AlbuquerqueGreat view!
Left on 05/15/2013 for a stay in May 2013
We stayed in this rustic house from May 6-9, 2013. There is a great view of the ocean from the house which is about 75-100 yards from the beach. You can hear the waves and there was a lovely ocean breeze that blew through the windows. Everything was very neat and clean. The house does not have a dishwasher or washer/dryer, but there is a Weber barbeque pit on the back porch. Both rooms had queen sized beds which were comfortable. One of the bedrooms also has a trundle bed for extra guests. Both bedrooms had bathrooms with showers. The master room also has a bathtub.
If you bring a small dog, be sure to keep it on a leash. We saw coyotes running across the dunes. The house is located between beach marker 9 and 10, but if you drive all the way down the Beach Road, you will come to an area where you can actually pull a van or trailer or RV practically right up to the water.
We took a dolphin watch tour which was a lot of fun. And we rented a golf cart to zip up and down the beach road.
There is a nice big grocery store in Port aransas, so don't worry if you forget anything. The rental company will give you a list of items that you need to bring like toilet paper, paper towels, coffee and coffee filters, condiments, etc.
The management company was very friendly and helpful. We had a coffee pot that died and a toaster that didn't work, but when we reported it to the rental company, they sent a maintenance man out immediately to replace them.
We are definitely planning on going back again next year - only next time we want to stay for 10 days instead of only four. -

We loved this place and will be back. We absolutely love being right on the beach, relaxing on the deck with our morning coffee. Grilling on the back deck was just as relaxing with a great sunset view.

We had a wonderful 4 night stay at the Driftwood- it was the perfect place for our young family in regards to size, style, comfort, ease. The beach access is worth every penny. The kids loved the outdoor shower, trundle bed. We all loved the porch view!
No complaints. We hope to return to the Driftwood one day! -

We love the Driftwood. We've stayed here for the past two years and have recommended it to our friends. Nothing like being on the waterfront. Love just a short walk down the driveway to the beach ... yes, thank you, that's what I want when I go to the beach. Not the fanciest, but clean, neat, and lovely location. Will stay here again.

San Antonio, TexasDriftwood on the Beach is AWESOME
Left on 04/22/2010 for a stay in April 2010
This is the second year we have stayed at Driftwood for the SandFest, and we wouldn't stay anywhere else!! We have already made our reservation for next year!
The house is not fancy, but it is very cozy, and the breeze that blows thru (there are cross-doors that you can open) at night is absolutely wonderful. It is PERFECT for the SandFest, because there is NO driving involved....we park when we get there, and don't get in the car again until it is time to go home....You just walk out the door, and you are on the beach RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE of SandFest!! If you want to eat at a resturant, the Beach Lodge is right next door...just walk over!
It is also great to sit on the porch that runs the length of the back of the house(or the front, whichever way you are looking at it!!) and look at the sunsets!!

This is our 1st time in Driftwood. Previously we stayed in Outlook 4 times. The location is perfect for us. Driftwood & Outlook are similar to high-class fishing cabins. They have nice appliances, tv's, etc. They are reasonably clean and Starkey is always helpfull with items you might need. The BIG PLUS is the Owner,Carol Woodfin and she lives on the property. She a delightful person to visit with. WE WILL RETURN NEXT YEAR. RICHARD & DONNA WIPF

This was about the fifth year we have vacationed at Driftwood. The experience was very good. This is a nice beach front property with a great ocean view. We greatly enjoy being able to walk to the beach.
We hope to rebook Driftwood again for our 2010 vacation.
Starkey Properties has been helpful in booking our stays at Driftwood.

Left on 10/01/2009 for a stay in September 2009
On the beach was what we wanted and Driftwood was perfect...we didn't need fancy furniture, pretty dishes or blackout drapes...that's not Driftwood. We got what we needed the sound of the surf, a short sandy walk to the water and a deck where we could watch the sun rise...those are the Driftwood memories we most cherish.

Left on 07/09/2009 for a stay in July 2009
We loved this little house. It is right on the beach and we could see our beach tent from the back deck. There's a restaurant with live music two doors down that really made our stay. Even though the heat was unbearable at times, it was nice to be able to jump in the water anytime. My only complaint would be that I wished the interior was updated. If it was freshened up a bit what a cute place it could be! However, it being as rustic as it was we certainly didn't have to worry about our kids (there were 5) ruining anything :)
The staff were really friendly and helpful. -

Left on 06/21/2009 for a stay in June 2009
We spent a wonderful week at this property. Right off the beach, it was easy for us to walk down at any time for a sunrise walk, to boogie board, and was especially convenient for kayaking. The front deck was an excellent place for breakfast, dinner, and evening discussions, with a view of the ocean and dunes -- a great place to watch the moon rise. It is also always cool with a strong breeze coming off the water. Bedrooms are also in front and get the breeze at night. The kitchen was great - -fully equipped. And when we found a few things out of order, management immediately replaced them. They even surprised us by bringing by a brand new microwave while we were there. Great service and a wonderful vacation. We will return.

Left on 06/13/2009 for a stay in May 2009
Love the easy, close location to the beach, but the beachhouse is in desperate need of updating. We also found it to be extremly dirty and dusting. No dishwasher in the unit; bed is very cheap and uncomfortabe.
Microwave did not work; light over kitchen sink was out. Dog hair on the dirty sofa....we put a sheet over it so we could sit down. The refrigerator is so old and had lots of moisture in it at all times. I spotted a few roaches at night; ants out by the trash. Even thought is says "Pet Friendly" there were so many stickers out on the grounds that my dogs paws were full of them every time we went out....and they are very painful. Would NEVER stay here again. -

We stayed at this house for 3 nights and 4 days. The couch was covered with dog hair and the windows do not shut all the way down. There were not any linen for the sofa sleeper. The first night the mesquitos were horrible.I called Starkey Properties and there were unable to do anythin until the next day.Housekeeping brought linen and did not vacuum the couch. I has to call back twice and before anyone came out to vacuum up the dog hair. The maintence men came out to spray.
Once the couch was cleaned the overall weekend turned out to be fine and the view from the balcony was great! We usually stay at the Seashell which is next door but we needed more room this time. I am not sure we would stay here again because of the couch not being clean and I had to call twice to get someone over to clean it.But we will be back to Port A next summer. -

This place is right on the beach. Great location and has a fantastic view with plenty of room. We stayed for a week and our one and only complaint would have to be the beds. They arent comfortable. Keep in mind we were sleeping in the same bed as our 18mo old. So it might be fine for your family. Everything else was absolutly wounderful. I recommend renting this house and also a beach cruiser (golf cart). The beach was clean and the town has a coastal feel. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

The house smelled like smoke even though it was supposed to be non-smoking. The sheets (as well as the comforter and blanket) on one of the beds were dirty and covered with hair (I am guessing pet hair). I attempted to change the sheets with extras in the linen closet and they too were dirty and covered in hair. I called the answering service and the office manager called me back. She stated she would refund one nights rental and send fresh sheets in the morning. We did receive clean sheets about dinnertime but as of April 9 have not received the refund. It is a great location right on the beach

My FAVORITE place to stay! You can not beat the view and the breeze on the porch! Not exactly a four star resort, but it is always clean. Starkey Properties crew has always treated me like family and Mrs. Woodfin does too! Bring your most comfortable clothes and just relax on the porch. You will LOVE this view!! :)
