NewcastleFantastic Holiday

Perfect rating for Plantation House! Everyone had a great time. We did not expect that the property would be that big and spacious. The kitchen made cooking pleasurable complete with all the kitchen appliances and utensils. Bathrooms are well sanitized. Our favorite spot was the outdoor dining area. We had most of our meals there because of the refreshing sea breeze. The kids enjoyed the pool and the play area as well. Overall, the house is fantastic! Since we just had a short stay, we are planning to go back soon (by then, much longer). The kids cannot wait!

SydneyHigh Quality Service and accommodation
Left on 02/19/2013 for a stay in February 2013
Every detail of the property was perfect for us. Well designed and furnished with all the things we needed. The master bedroom is huge and airy. The lounge area is comfortable and perfect for having movie marathons.
There is a large communal swimming pool which is only used by a few other villas and we had it mostly to ourselves. We also commend the quality service that the staff had offered us during our stay. Very friendly and approachable. Thanks a lot and we surely be booking our next getaway at Plantation House. -

Glasgow, United KingdomAmazing villa with awesome access to 4mile beach
Left on 07/03/2012 for a stay in June 2012
Villa was just as described on all correspondence; lovely open plan, lots of space and neutral tones. Great access to 4mile beach just across the park. Guy, the property manager met us upon arrival and filled us with lots of info about the local area. Port Douglas is lovely, but it's even lovlier to stay outside the main drag and have a beautiful villa away from it all! Plantation House has it all and if you're in a larger party that prefers a chilled out experience this is the best option for you!

AustraliaBest.Holiday.House.Ever!
Left on 08/18/2011 for a stay in August 2011
I was a bit reluctant to post a review, because I wanted to keep knowledge of this gem of a holiday townhouse all to myself!
But I can't.
I was so happy with our stay there, I don't think I would bother looking to stay anywhere else when we go back for our next trip. And thank goodness we didn't have to stay in Cairns, it was nothing in comparision to staying where we did!!!
If you have a family, and you want a nice tropical escape in australia, you must go here. The house is situated an easy approx 5 minutes drive from McCrossin street, and that fact is one of the main reasons we loved staying here! Most days, you could see the crowds up that end of Four Mile Beach, while down our end, we seemed to have the Coral Sea and the beach to ourselves, save for the steady flow of walkers/runners/bike riders/wedding parties going for their trips along the fabulous beach! Plantation House end of the beach really is the better option!!
The house itself is lovely - on the northern end of one of the three blocks of three townhouses. It had its own entrance (not shared with anyone) up the side of the of the building, so you really felt like you were away from everyone. Easy access to the 25 metre lap pool as well - and most days we were the only ones using the area! The pool has steps at one end, which is really handy for small kiddies.
The beach is only about 50 metres away through some trees, and it would be one of the only rental houses where you can actually see through to the ocean in the tree break where the path is, I loved sitting up on the balcony and looking out at the water!
There is also a great little park direcly outside of the townhouse, between the house and the beach. This is a plus and a minus - plus for being able to let the kids go play easily, minus when there were lots of other people using it, or the park bbq of an evening (the master bedroom overlooks the park) - sometimes the others got a bit noisy.
The townhouse has a lovely outdoor eating area that has a ceiling fan, daybed, bbq and table, it was where we spent most of our time. It is in an enclosed courtyard, with lockable gate access to the park and beach. Large sliding doors opened up into the house living/dining area (really comfy lounges and plasma screen TV), and the kitchen & laundry is beyond that. There is an upstairs and downstairs bathroom, both well appointed, and the upstairs bathroom has a spa if you are into those!
The master bedroom was very lovely, gorgeous views out, and great king size bed and it's own dressing area and a tv (not yet connected to digital though). It has a private balcony with comfy seats up there.
The other three bedrooms were equally nice, with the other upstairs rooms having two single beds (as did one downstairs room) and the other downstairs room a queensize bed.
There was a laundry with washer and dryer, the only problem there was that there was a slatted door for it instead of a solid one, so it got a bit noisy. The upstairs bedroom also has a slatted door, which meant you could hear all the downstairs noise as it wasn't solid, which was a bit annoying when I was trying to get to sleep before the rest of the family - but really that was my only gripe for the whole place! The house is also getting a tiny bit worn in areas of paint but that would be because it gets used by visitors so often!
Wifi is also included, not super fast, but enough to use the iPad to send of a couple of emails or check facebook when I wanted!
There was a double carport directly off the entrance which was great, and the kids rode their scooters around the driveway area.
What else. Guy the manager was so helpful and friendly, I can't compliment him enough! He met us at the house, showed us around, and nothing was too much trouble for them to organise. We were there long enough to have a service clean, and again this was done well and efficiently.
They have an access cupboard with things like pool noodles, beach buckets, beach umbella, boogie board, folding chairs, esky and the like - all such handy things to have there, so we didn't have to bring it, and all linen including beach towels were also supplied.
Basically, this place is perfect if you have kids, the only negative could be that the stairs might be an issue for some if you are not used to them.
So do yourself a favour and go and stay at this holiday house in Port Douglas.
I would happily recommend it in a heartbeat! -

MelbourneGret service and a wonderful family holiday
Left on 08/12/2011 for a stay in April 2011
We stayed at Plantation house for a wedding in Port Douglas. My parents arrived a few days before us and I was concerned that the check-in process would be challenging for them, but as soon as they arrived they were looked after.
We hired a car at Cairns and its about 1 hours drive from the airport and the house itself is approximately 10 minutes drive to the heart of Port Douglas. There is a bus but its only once an hour or so. We loved the fact it was outside the centre as the beach was secluded, the views were magnificent and you could really relax.
Lots of things for children...swing park, pool and wildlife Park 10 minutes away. Everything was clean and lots of appliances, games, books. We invited 12 friends for dinner and a games of boules one evening and there was plenty of room for everyone.Response from Astrid Bourke - 08/27/2011
