Description from the owner

We live at the "Reef and Rain forest Coast" in "Tropical North Queensland" - approximately 60 km north of Cairns and 15 km south of Port Douglas. It is a very convenient point to explore the surroundings with their world famous natural wonders like day trips into the World Heritage Park of the Daintree Rain forest, snorkel or dive the Great Barrier Reef, circle the Atherton Tablelands, have a ride amidst the tree tops of the rain forest on the Kuranda Skyrail, watch the crocodiles in the wilderness of the Daintree River and much more. If you come back after a full day of experiences into Mountain View Lodge our swimming pool area awaits you...Read more

      Hier möchte man bleiben ...

Left on 05/10/2012 for a stay in March 2012

      Awsome!!!

Left on 01/20/2012 for a stay in December 2011

We stayed at Rita and Walters fantastic accomodation for 8 nights in December with our 2 children aged 7 & 9. We had a great time and were made to feel extremley welcome. The lodge was very clean and located in a beautiful location, the pool was just what we needed after a hot day exploring. Ritas knowledge of the are was great and she pointed us in the direction of some fab attractions. We will certainly be coming back to stay here and wouldnt hesitate in recommending to friends... and the kids cant wait to see the crocodiles in the local creek again!!!
      Thanks Rita and Walter.

A lovely oasis in an already lovely area

Left on 01/20/2012 for a stay in December 2011

This is lovely accommodation in a great location. The house is one of 2 or 3 in beautiful grounds about 15 minutes drive from Port Douglas but close to a beach. The house was very clean, comfortable and well maintained. The pool was just next door and while small was deep and perfect for our needs. Our kids swim well and enjoy diving down into the water. They did not mind the size. They loved the geckos, butterflies and frogs around. The location was very peaceful. The hosts, Rita and Walter were pro-active in their offer of assistance, friendly and approachable but kept their distance at the same time. Rita kept an eye on the weather for us as we were there just at the beginning of rainy season. She made sure we knew when would be best to book our snorkelling trip and as a result we had a perfect day. We would definitely stay there again. My only comment would be that the kitchen could have been better equipped for cooking. As a family with youngish children we did not want to eat out much and bbqing was hot work but the kitchen was not really equipped for preparing cooked meals.

Great value accommodation in secluded location

Left on 09/09/2011 for a stay in August 2011

We (self, husband and 18 year old daughter) stayed 9 days and - thanks in no small part to our hosts' guidance - found much more to do locally than we had time for! Our hosts were genuinely welcoming, friendly and helpful. The location is up a quiet hillside road about 10 mins drive from Port Douglas itself. It is overlooked by rainforest. One gets the feeling of being within a tropical arboretum, with a wealth of trees around the whole property. There is a lovely local beach about 15 mins' walk. The accommodation itself was well-constructed, homely and of course clean. Effective air con except in bathroom. There is shared use of barbeque and pool, of which we made good use.
