Villa Empat Puluh Dua is an architectural icon for the Australian tropics, reinterpreted for a style of private luxury living that is entirely the domain of the dedicated internationalist. On one side, a series of levels cascade down a hillside of tropical rainforest looking out over the Coral Sea and the town of Port Douglas. On the other, an infinity edge pool amongst the treetops.

Five minutes walk will take you down to the coral sands of Four Mile Beach or into the heart of the international resort town of Port Douglas itself. You might also choose to visit the natural wonders of the Daintree Rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef, o...r have us arrange a fishing charter on the Coral Sea. Then again you may prefer to stay exactly where you are. Having discovered your own private tropical paradise at Villa Empat Puluh Dua you suddenly have no desire to leave it. That's human nature.

At Villa Empat Puluh Dua you have the use of seven individually designed suites that reflect a classical Asian sensibility. Designers Guild fabrics, soft leathers, and Grange French wrought iron and cane furniture feature throughout. Each bedroom has its own ensuite bathroom. The exclusive L'Occitane toiletries are French. The unique views of the Coral Sea? Exclusively Australian.

Relaxation is a state of mind. And given the right location, a state of bliss. The Villa's multiple timber decks and terraces offer private retreats as well as the ultimate inside/outside entertaining possibilities, for sharing with those around you. The infinity edge pool provides the perfect setting to indulge in a massage or beauty treatment called up from the town below. As one of the world's most exclusive holiday houses Villa Empat Puluh Dua is a place where almost anything is possible. Yet doing very little may still prove to be the best thing of all.

Taste governs the senses. With this in mind, the Villa manager can arrange for a private chef of choice to look after your entire stay or to create specific meals utilising exotic ingredients of the Australian North. Fine dining also exists beyond the gates of the Villa with Port Douglas' acclaimed restaurants just minutes away. The atmosphere is relaxed and personal. The food is distinctively Asian to Modern Australian. One thing remains constant. An emphasis on freshness. And taste.

The Villa has seven bedrooms: 3 King sized and 4 Queens for up to 18 guests. More intimate groups who don't require the entire Villa may book a minimum of 3 bedrooms. All bookings are for 3 nights or more. But regardless of number of rooms or length of stay the Villa will be for your exclusive use. After all, a private tropical paradise should be just that. Your stay at Villa Empat Puluh Dua begins with french champagne and a selection of tropical fruits. The Villa manager will also greet you on arrival and introduce you to the full range of possibilities for your visit. Chef, masseuse, butler, drivers, and charters of all kinds are available. With the feel of an exclusive mini resort, this is a place where even the most individual of requirements can be met.

Daily housekeeping times will be tailored to meet your need for privacy. All rooms are sheltered from the tropical sun by electric timber louvers, ceiling fans and individual AC systems. The Villa also features a CD, DVD, and reading library for your entertainment.

  Lives of the rich and famous...but a few things you need to cons

  If you want a holiday that makes you feel like the rich and famous then Villa Empat Puluh Dua is for you. I travelled with nine family members for my thirtieth birthday in November and it was incredible. It was truly a holiday to remember and ended with an engagement. The villa is breathtaking as are the views.
  It was actually quite affordable given we travelled in off peak and there were nine of us to split the bill.
  Views are seen from nearly every angle and every floor however in order to get those magnificent views you have to be prepared for endless stairs and hills. I actually enjoyed the exercise as did many others in the group however if you’re thinking of staying here with children, elderly or anyone who is physically challenged I would consider your options. The pool is child proof so no need for concern but the driveway is almost a 90 degree angle and many vehicles wouldn’t be able to drive up it. This made it very difficult to carry the slabs of beer up the hill from the main street. Also don’t rely on a taxi to get you up there. We were rejected many times. I would recommend hiring a car depending on who you are travelling with. There is also an inclinator however this doesn’t take you to the kitchen….there is another set of stairs. It really just depends on who you are travelling with. You’re legs with get a great workout.
  All the bedrooms are fantastic …if you are only requiring a few bedrooms request a bedroom other than the loft. It’s was a lovely hidden bedroom however it felt a little claustrophobic in comparison to the others.
  On the last day of our stay there was a miscommunication with our late checkout. We were able to stay and enjoy the villa until our 6pm checkout however make sure you get it in writing and have it with you.
  Overall the villa won’t disappoint……truly an experience to remember however I thought the above may assist with anyone thinking of hiring the villa in the near future.

  Simply luxurious with breathtaking views

  Great house with wow factor, all the way from the inclinator to the beach views from the master bedroom shower! Bit hard to find up a tucked away driveway. With 7 bedrooms good for larger groups, birthdays, wedding bridal retreats etc. Two separates floors, one with 4 bedrooms and other with 3, provides privacy between the two areas if neccessary. Great pool, BBQ and pleanty of outdoor living area.

  A luxurious resort of your very own

  If your aim is to have the ultimate Port Douglas experience then Villa Empat Puluh Dua is the place for you. We were looking for a place that would give us family friendly luxury with the ease of a resort but the seclusion of private accommodation and this place delivered. It would be even better as a as romantic getaway. With spectacular views, outstanding amenities (great master bedroom, infinity pool!), friendly unobtrusive service (daily clean and a friendly welcome) we had a fantastic time. Easy stroll into Port Douglas centre, plenty of options if you don't want to leave the house. If you want to do it right - rent this house!
