Description from the owner

The house is centrally located in Port of Spain.

It is close to the Cricket, Football (soccer) and Tennis Stadiums. The house is one short block of the Savannah. (Queens Park Oval)

Locals use the Savannah to run or walk around for exercise. Drink a coconut water and eat some doubles by the vendors you will find there parked with their trucks, loaded with fresh coconuts.

The American, German and Canadian Embassy are in walking distance from the house.

The big hotels, Hilton, Hyatt, Mariott and Crown Plaza are all in walking if you are attending a conference or have to stay for business in Port of Spain and don't want...Read more

It is definitely a home away from home!!

Left on 11/20/2012 for a stay in August 2012

Lucy answered all of my emails very promptly and gave thorough answers. My family stayed in the front house from august 23-29, 2012. It's very clean, comfortable, fully furnished, and spacious. There are places to eat and grocery stores within a 10-15 minute walk. My family and I will always make Lucy's guest house our first choice when we are in Trinidad!! Hopefully it won't already be booked! lol :)

Thank you very much for your hospitality.

      Mrs. Benjamin

      Great Place- Central Location

Left on 07/02/2012 for a stay in May 2012

This was a great place to stay with our family (2 small kids) because we had plenty of space to spread out. The kitchen was very big and had everything you need to cook which was great so we didn't have to eat out every meal. This was very close to everything we wanted to do- quick walk to the Savannah where they had a festival the week we were there. It was a short walk or ride to the Zoo where my son had a great time. It was close to Movie Towne with lots of restaurants and shops. The owners were great. Next time we are in Trinidad we will stay there.

      Safe, Comfortable & Friendly

Left on 10/08/2010 for a stay in September 2010

We dealt with a number of home owners in Trinidad & Tobago and met with a bunch of nonsense from quite a few. Hendrik & Lucy were like night & day. They were upfront about the property, the rates and he worked with us when our plans changed. They are honest and fair and we found Hendrik to be a great character. The property was very comfortable, as close to the action as was possible in Port of Spain, very safe as a security guard with the American Embassy looks over the street. The highlight of the property is a young relative of Lucy's, Ayoola! This young teacher treated us like friends and she showed us the highlights of Port of Spain. Ayoola provided much needed guidance and information and, instead of taking taxis we asked Ayoola if she was available to take us to/from the ferry. Although she was reluctant to take money fair is fair and we left her a gift when we left for her kindness and her time & effort. The house was clean and comfortable and it soooo nice to be able to stretch out, eat what you like (not too impressed with the restaurants there) when you like, have a bottle or two of wine in the fridge and we even brought back fresh coconuts from the friendly vendor on the Savannah (a short walk away and opposite the American Embassy). My wife cooked in the nice pots and pans supplied as we had brought over a small amount of spices. We did eat the famous "Doubles” & "Aloo pies” & the lovely Columbian pastries in the evening (Saturday) market on the Savannah & had the fresh juice. We also did the Caroni Swamp with Sean Madoo and we used Charlie (threekneez@hotmail.com) to take us around Trinidad for a long day and to take us to the airport. Both men are highly recommended. An added bonus was that on our last day we were bone tired and so we relaxed at home and watched American football on TV as Hendrik has a lot of available channels on the TV. We felt safe, comfortable and having Ayoola there was both a pleasure and a (not needed) safety net.

      Amazing

Left on 07/29/2010 for a stay in July 2010

I stayed at this house with my husband and my 3 kids ages 7, 10 and 15 and my brother-in-law. The house was spacious and fully equiptment for a family and even singles. The kitchen is stocked with every amenities you can need bar a bead maker lol. The bedrooms are spacious and there was a washer and dryer and airconditions in 2 of the rooms, a fan and ceiling fan in the other. There is internet and cable availabe.

The location is convienently close to the city and the Savannah for afternoon strolls and even for excercise and to keep the kids busy. The kids liked it and even though my brother-in-law is not used to kids being around he loved it and express his views of staying there again. Mr. and Mrs. Soethout were very pleasant on the phone and in person. There were a few mishaps that was beyond there control but that is Trinidad. The electricity was gone but that was the company doing work in the area. This caused the hot water to shut off but the water was warm that you did not need it. Our stay was wonderful and amazing and Mr. and Mrs. Soethout were there to take care of any problems that occured. I was a wonderful stay and I look forward to staying there again in the future.

      Fantastic Location!!

Left on 07/01/2010 for a stay in June 2010

Lucy and Hendrik (our host and hostess) saw to all our needs. The house is very secure and well kept. The location is one block from the savannah and near to restaurants, clubs, other hotels, and Shianns on Cipreani Blvd (best roti shop in POS). We all had a wonderful stay.
Thank you Lucy and Hendrik for all your kindness and warm hospitality.

      Kenny and Fam.
