Left on 05/01/2013 for a stay in April 2013
Mexico Beach is the place for quiet relaxation. We have stayed in this area many times, but this was our first stay at the Starline a. Good location for day trips to places like apalachacola( see the last picture of Shrimp boat there)and St. George Island. Starline was clean and complete with nice kitchen to cook meals instead of going out. Enjoyable to stay there and enjoy the beach.Check out the Piggly Wiggly in Port St. Joe. They will steam fresh local caught shrimp for you to bring back and enjoy with a steak on the grill provided at the Starline.Don't expect over the top luxury, but a very comfortable and clean place to stay.

This was our first vacation in 2 years and we were looking forward to a week on the beach and a comfortable stay in well maintained, convenient accomodations.
Beaches were beautiful, but the canal next to the property was very dirty from a breach in a sewer system up stream poluting the drainage canal and flowed into the gulf making swimming an issue. Not the fault of the property owner, but the canal is not really referred to, if you have small children it would be a hazard to consider.
We were disappointed in the accomodations...the screen on the main entry door was torn loose and reported on our arrival, but not repaired until late Thursday afternoon. A ceiling section on the deck was torn loose and hanging low, catching a lot of wind during tropical storm Debbie and not repaired during our stay. The furniture in the living area was very dirty... the grill was charcoal, not gas as indicated and had not been cleaned in some time. The deck furniture was broken and the small outdoor tables were very dirty as well. The kitchen and bath areas were nice and the kitchen well equipped. It did take almost 2 days for the refrigerator to get cold, it would have been nice to have the turned on before our arrival since it takes so long to cool down.
Overall, I could not recommend the condo and would not consider renting again.Response from Southern Vacation Rentals - 07/06/2012
Manager
Southern Vacation Rentals deeply values your relationship and we thank you for submitting your review. We are committed to providing you with the highest level of service and we apologize about the screen not being repaired prior to arrival. It is scheduled for repair this week from an outside vendor as well as the cleaning of furniture and grill. The ceiling section is going to take a little more time to repair, but we are currently working on getting the issue resolved. We are also researching the replacement of outdoor furniture. Again, thank you and we hope that you will give us an opportunity to host your vacation in the future.

The couch was dirty. The door downstairs in the utility room was off the hinges & banged around. The bathroom fixtures ware installed backwards so we thought we had no hot water. In general the place was a dump. We left early, left the keys in the package we received them in and got an email saying we didn't leave the keys. We will not use Southern Vacation Rentals again.
Response from Southern Vacation Rentals - 05/03/2012
Manager
Southern apologizes for any inconvenience endured during your stay. When Southern received your initial report the unit did not have hot water, a plumber was dispatched immediately. Even when the plumber was in route and Southern received your voicemail stating the problem was solved, Southern did not cancel the plumber as requested. Southern continued to due diligence in having service call followed through and completed as we would have for any other issues if they were reported. Thank you for being a Guest of Southern and we hope that we can serve you again in the future.

Great location, walking distance to Toucans,Killer Seafood and the Best Grocery store in Mexico Beach.
Property needs beds and furniture updated really bad.
This is a two level condo. Top level roof is not good. Railings need paint and the overall building needs TLC.
Outstanding views of the Gulf, watch Dolphins while sitting on the deck. -

Newnan, gaGreat place for a peaceful stay!
Left on 08/22/2011 for a stay in July 2011
We had a wonderful time staying here right on the beach. The unit was very nice and clean and we had plenty of room to relax. The views are breathtaking right outside your door overlooking the ocean. Great place to stay as a family or just a couple. The beach is kept very clean, we had friends staying in PCB and they could not enjoy the beach because it was so dirty. One thing to keep in mind, if you are looking for places to shop and activities to do with teenagers, you will need to drive to somewhere like panama city as this is a small, quiet beach town and there aren't activities for the kids other than the beach. One small issue we had was our noisy neighbors upstairs above us, they did quiet down after the first couple nights though. Overall, we would definitely stay here again.

The place was really nice. The only negatives were that the doors don't lock from the inside (we had to make do with rigging something to work) and the Master bed was uncomfortable. But other than those 2 things, it was a great stay. I would recommend to a friend and we look forward to coming back to visit the Forgotten coast and using Southern Resorts again (although next time I will pick a bedroom based on the comfyness of the bed. :))

We stayed once before in this same condo and loved the condo, the location was beautiful and perfect and the condo perfect. This vacation was not even 2 years after our initial stay, and the condo has been neglected and was filthy. The door would not lock from the inside, the tv in the second bedroom was broken, the condo was covered with dirt and sand. No curtain in the bathroom. They left only one roll of toilet paper in each bathroom in a condo setup for 5 people. Some lights and outlets did not work. I expected so much more since our initial visit was so great, but decided within the first day not to return to this condo.

Needing several repairs, banisters on upper first level and hand rail going down to beach are very unstable, Gait hinges were broken, Lg. coffee pot still had unclean water in it stored under sink area, no extra trash bags. Sliding door is very hard to open and tracks extreamly dirty. When you have 6 adults and two children it would be nice to have enought towels etc. to accomadate needs. Plus the shelfs that were in between the laundry area were nice for grocery storage, as all cabniet space was taken up by kitchen items. Also why is the sliding door on the front locked?

The home was comfortably furnished, however the electrical outlets and turning on the cable to the televisions was as complicated as I have ever seen. (It would have confused a certified electrician!) The biggest issue we had was the beach in front of the property was horrible. A canal runs beside this property and dumps directly into the ocean, so nasty-looking brown canal water was not an inviting scene. As the ocean tide changed, so did the direction of the canal, and it ended up taking away 3/4 of the beachfront of this property over the course of 3 days. Very disappointing view.

this is the first time taking the whole family and we sure hope to go back. this condo was very nice although what use is a big screen tv when you can't get any reception. also the place needed a good cleaning. i was told it would get a good cleaning at the end of the season but it would be nice to have it cleaned much more often. other than that it was great, everything you need. if you cook alot like we did you will want to take food storage containers, garbage bags and dishwasher detergent.you will also need your own laundry supplies and hair dryers, etc. be sure to note if you have small children there is a drainage canal running beside the property, this could be very dangerous as it was quiet deep when we got there, the city came and opened it up after the first day and then we had to move down the beach some because the water was very ugly. southern resorts was great to work with, they made everything easy for us and we did have to call with a problem and they were very prompt in taking care of the situation.

July 2009
Upon arriving our instructions were a lock box which did not exist for the key. The sliding doors were left unlocked. After a call to Southern Resorts we were given instructions on how to obtain a key (14 miles east of the condo)and I was informed that I wouldn't be responsible if something was missing.
The locks on the 3 doors were all rusted and malfunctioning. A call to Southern Resorts resulted in a repairman coming over. The repair man had the wrong lock and we were left with a condo we could not secure properly for over 24 hours. After a call the next day the repairman came and installed a padlock as a temporary fix pending the replacement of the doors at a later date. A satisfactory fix for the situation.
The condo itself was in dire need of deep cleaning and some minor repairs. (bathroom grout, caulking, dusting) General cleaning had been performed before we arrived but the deep cleaning is what kills the germs and bacteria.
The bedroom TV's were on a wall socket with a light switch which took forever for me to figure out. The TV in the living room had a terrible picture. A beautful HD Samsung with a picture worse than you would get with an antenna in the 70's. The other small tv's had a good picture so I will assume it was the wall connection or wire.
The condo itself is in a great location right on the beach.
I would love to recommend this condo to everyone but I feel with the apparent neglect and in its present condition it is not worth rental.
If the owners would take care of these issues it would be worth renting. The location is great and the beach is not crowded like other beaches. Grocery and restaurant are walking distance so you can focus on your vacation. It does have wireless internet which I didn't see advertised.
If the issues are fixed I would rent this again. We did have a great time nonetheless. How can you not at the beach? :) -

Left on 07/30/2009 for a stay in July 2009
This was a beautiful beach to be on. Not very crowded and lots of white
sand to play in. The house itself was very nice and certainly met all our
needs except for one problem. The doors would not lock with the key
provided. When we arrived the place was not locked although we had to
drive out of our way to pick up the key. Evidently it was known that there
was a problem because someone came to measure for a new door while we
we there. Unfortunately none of the doors could be locked. which meant we
had to bring any valuables with us when we left for any amount of time
other then going to the beach. Other then this problem which I certainly
hope will be rectified soon I would highly recommend this place. One note
of caution, they are not kidding when they call this the "forgotten coast".
There is not anything to do here other then the beach/water activities. If
you are looking for other attractions you need to go into Panama City Beach
which is 45 minutes to an hour away. This worked for me but may not for
everyone.

Left on 07/29/2009 for a stay in May 2009
The property staff was great to work with and were very accommodating to all our needs. The home was updated, great furniture, very clean, and all the kitchen supplies are provided. Another plus were the flat screen television's in each room. My wife loved the dishwasher. It was truly a home away from home, except this home has a beautiful view of the Gulf front. The dolphins can been seen each morning from the deck off the master bedroom which is a great way to start the day. The location was perfect. Directly across the street was a little joint called "Killer Seafood", and the fried shrimp and grouper were wonderful. The market is also very close for everything you need. The beach area was quite and seemed a bit secluded, not overrun with tourists, which is something we were looking for. I cannot say enough good things about the Starline A, and the Southern Resorts staff. We are planning on booking our next trip there soon.

This homes location and condition are perfect for an active family. We spent our two weeks surfing, fishing and just plain relaxing. The units interior is clean and crisp, although we spent most of our time enjoying the beach view from the deck. Outstanding local restaurants and a small well stocked grocery are within two minutes walking distance. Even if you don't surf, this unit is on one of the main Mexico Beach surf breaks. What a show when the surf is up!!! See you next year, I just rented the unit again for 2010...:)

Left on 04/15/2009 for a stay in April 2009
Probably one of the best locations on Mexico Beach. Accomodations closer to the pier are set far back from the beach, while farther down (toward Port St. Joe's), many of the houses are across the highway. Close (and in many cases, within walking distance)to restaraunts, groceries, and seafood markets. Grandsons (8 & 11) amused themselves not only with the ocean but also with the creek next to us. House was clean, adequately eqipped, and just the right size for a family of 5 or 6. House and some of the furnishings were showing some wear and tear but location more than made up for that. Had the furnishings been a litte "fresher", would have given it one more star for "Highly receommended".

The house we rented was excellent! Very clean and on the beach! Any problems we had were quickly resolved by the resort personnel! The only problem we couldn't control was the weather However, there were enough warm and sunny days for all of us to get super tans and to collect some beautiful shells. Even the cold days were great, because we had the beach to ourselves! As a professional photographer, there were ample photo opps: landscapes, seascapes, sunsets and more! My family and I cannot wait to go back!

Mexico beach is a very nice quiet beach. My family had a very fun time. It was very secluded very private. There is no commercial anything there in town. Everything is family owned and very hospitable. The house was very nice and clean and I will probably be back. I did feel I paid a little too much considering every other house or condo on the beach was empty. Better searching next time. It was just what I was looking for.

My family and I had a wonderful time during our stay here during September. We loved the location (within walking distance to Toucans) and felt that the decor an ammenities of the property were top notch. The guys loved the mounted flat screens in every room and the girls loved the kitchen. The furnishings were top notch and everything about our experience was just wonderful. The only downside was that the property was next to a canal and the lights from Toucans were bright at night and that made it difficult to stargaze. In the grand scheme of things though, those didn't bother us because our rental was 10x nicer than the rental my sister booked just a few steps away.
