I have booked many different rental properties, Barefoot Cottages was very hard to find. What should have been a six (6) hour drive from Orlando, turned into 12 hours. The GPS system kept telling us that we needed to go to south Florida. When I tried to google the address it was telling me to go to Fort Walton. When I called Southern Vacation I was told Mexico Beach. When I got to Mexico beach I could not find the address and called again and was told to go past 2nd street in Mexico beach. What I found out was the Cottages was in Port St. Joe. By the time I got to the rental property it was late and I was very frustrated and tired.
The next morning I just wanted to soak in the hot tub to relieve the aches from the long drive only to find out that the hot tub was broken. I was not told during my booking this property that this was the case.
Our last night there was also a disaster. There was a six foot long snake that lived under the porch. We discovered this when my daughter and niece came back from a trip to the store. They walked up to the cottage and was met by this creature in the dark. My daughter screamed and tried to run but had flip flops on and fell down scraping her legs up. My daughter had to call me on my cell phone to come and turn on the light to scare the snake off and to hold the screen door open so they could run inside. To my surprise I find that the light bulb above the screen door had been removed.
I have pictures and will submit those on request.
If you have any questions please call me.
I would welcome some reimbursement for all the problems, pain, and fuel cost we endured.
Good stay but...

We stayed Memorial day weekend at Barefoot cottages. I would give this an excellent rating, but there were a few issues. The air conditioner in our unit stopped cooling the first night. I checked the filter and it was completely stopped up. Like it hadn't been changed in months. Once removed it started cooling again. Second problem... we stayed here a few years ago and it was a peaceful stay lounging by the pool. This time not so much. A family of unruly guest were eating and drink in and around the pool. Tossing canned drinks from their doorway into the pool. I complained via the smart phone app, but no one ever showed up. If you are going to have rental units there needs to be someone supervising it. We love Port Saint Joe, but not sure if we will stay here again??
Great home away from home!!!

Celeste was always helpful and friendly. Home is very spacious and because of all the amenities my wife and I did not feel cramped and could utilize the accommodations to our personal preferences ie. Tv's and bathrooms.
Like the pool and hot tub. My only slight complaint would be the noise from the pumps for the pool and hot tub. Love the foliage and protection from the Gulf winds. Great place and we will be back.

We stayed in Barefoot Cottages (B37). The pictures that the site showed on line do no justice for this lovely home. Check in was a breeze. I do wish that check in times were scheduled earlier than 4pm, but we understood that the cottage needed to be cleaned up for the next guest. We did arrive in Port St. Joe a little too early so I called the office and they allowed us to check in around 1pm. The community was very nice. Our cottage was located near parking (about two cottages down) and near the pool and hot tub (but not so close that you could hear all of the pool activity. About 3-4 cottages down). The cottage was quite large and decorated nicely. The only complaint that I have would be that we found a binder with a lot of helpful info the day before we left. I would have been nice if housekeeping had left the binder out where we could make use of the information...we found it under the kitchen sink.
If you are going to Port St. Joe and have never been before, I have to recommend Joe Mama's Wood Fired Pizza!!! Very good food, quick service and prices are low. It is a must. As far as the beach goes, we preferred going to the state park on Cape San Blas. Very clean beaches, restrooms, outdoor shower and the beach was not crowded at all. My family loves Port St. Joe becuase it is not commercialized. It is off the beaten path. So if you are a family that needs touristy activities, this might not be the place for you. Over all I would recommend Barefoot Cottages/Southern Vacation Rentals to friends and family. When we go back to Port St. Joe, we will be staying at Barefoot!
