West Memphis, AROur wonderful vacation stay at Barefoot Cottages #B40 far exceed

We left arkansas earlier than expected and arrived before our check in time. After a quick phone call and exchange of fee, we were given a new admit code and allowed to check in several hours before original agreement. This was a heaven sent benefit due to our 19 month old grandson's disposition after the long night drive. When we arrived, the cottage was very clean, which was a plus. The kitchen and baths were well stocked and towels were everywhere. After we napped and unpacked the front porch became a gathering place for both families and everyone was excited with the location and facilities. It was a overcast day and we did not make a planned trip, we stayed by the pool and the wonderful hot tub. We spoke to a few other guests and they also delighted with the service and level of forethought Southern Vacation Rentals gave us. We were excited by the local grocery (Piggly Wiggly)who gave directions, suggestions and provided fair prices. Port Saint Joe was beautiful and we were very well pleased with our stay. We have started making plans for next year and plan to bring others. The only thing lacking was a garden hose. (to clean up after daily beach trips).

My family loved the Barefoot Cottages! Decor was nice and warm and the cottage was very clean! The only thing we missed are the bicycles that they used to keep around the community. We did not bring our own but we will be sure to bring them next time.

This was actually our first family vacation since we been a family. We really enjoyed the scenery. The beach some of the amenities. But the rental house was not clean. There was dust and hair everywhere. The walls were dirty. The pool and the jaquizzi was dirty. I actually wanted to call and complain but my kids wasn't bothered. They just wanted to really enjoy themselves, so I did what any other mother would have done. And just cleaned the house myself. Then, the day before we left there was a bear right on the outside of where we were staying very scary. Then on top of all that they sent a maintenance man to come and disrupt our family breakfast. And I still don't know really what that was for. Worst of all the airconditioning wasn't cool enough because it needed a filter replacement. Next years vacation will be spent somewhere else, but thanks anyhow.

We have made housekeeping aware of the cleaning issues that you experienced during your stay. We do apologize that you had to spend time cleaning during your vacation. There is some wildlife in the Port St. Joe area unfortunately. I apologize if this frightened you and your family. We do our best to complete maintenance requests in a timely manner and I do apologize that he came to the house during your breakfast.

If you are a "Dyed in the Wool" beach person then this place is not for you. If you like a nice clean and well equiped house for a good price, then rent away. The closest good beach is about 8 miles away. Windmark beach is two feet wide and covered in sea weed.
The owners book in the house is out-dated...the description of the number of tv's and dvd's is wrong and the password concerning the wi-fi is wrong...you do need one. The washer and dryer are great but the hoses to the washer are hooked up backward...hot to cold, etc. The free bikes (5) were there the first day then gone the rest of our stay. We asked the front office about them and they said "the property manager would go around and collect them." Did not happen.Response from Southern Vacation Rentals - 06/24/2011
