We found the cottage to be extremely clean, furnished with all necessary items, and very comfortable. We enjoyed staying there and would return.
Nice and Clean

The cottage was very nice. It was exactly the way it was described. Conveniently located. Good place for the price.

We enjoyed our stay @ Barefoot Cottages. The house was nicely decorated, rooms were large & the kitchen was well appointed with everything you would need. The only negative was that the hot tub was down for maintenance & the parking was not by the house.
Even better than I hoped for

The cottage felt like home. Very roomy, very comfortable, very clean, kitchen was so nice, stocked with any utensil you'd ever need to cook and prepare food, and organized. Newer stainless steel appliances in the kitchen and flat screen tv's in every room. The decor was tasteful and pretty.
I loved having the use of the washer and dryer.
We enjoyed the screened in porch and rocking chairs.
Overall, we felt very comfortable, relaxed and had everything we needed.
My recommendation is to drive to Mexico beach for the best beach experience, just 5 minutes away.
This was very pleasant, clean accommodation, but we had hoped to

The cottage was clean and well-equipped. My family who had traveled from England to join us were happily surprised by that; and the swimming pool and hot tub were wonderful. But the main purpose of our trip was to spend our very short time there on the beach (we had a party of people aged from 4 months to 77 year old) and there was not a close beach. We had hoped our teenagers could walk to the beach themselves, but we had to drive 7 - 12 miles to find a good one. Mexico Beach was okay but the water that weekend was brown! The next day we went further east and found a lovely place with clear water that was perfect for us. All in all we had a good experience, but we wish we had understood the beach situation better.
Needed some work

This was our second stay at the barefoot cottages. Our first experience was great but this second one needed some work. We stayed in c56. There was dog/cat hair on the furniture. All of the tv reception was blurry and we could barely see what was playing. Also it would be great for them to supply wifi in the cottages and not just in the community house. Other than these things our stay was good!
Relaxing and quiet.

We really enjoyed our stay and our cottage. The beaches close to the cottage were not what we expected but Mexico beach was a short drive and very nice. Everyone was very friendly. The pools and playground at the complex were great we had 2 three year olds that loved them.
Nice and very comfortable

Enjoyed our stay at this cottage. The beds were very comfortable and we had all we needed there. The beach is technically across the street from the complex (not from the house) but there is a fence so you can't really walk it; you have to drive. We didn't mind the drive and Windmark Beach and Mexico Beach are so close that it's fine. Port St. Joe is a small town but very nice and away from the crowds. The pool was boiling hot but I guess that's typical for this time of year! Really nice house, and enjoyed the screened in porch as well.
Best Beach Cottage Ever!

My parents, my husband, our two children, and myself stayed at Barefoot Cottages, Unit C56 for an impromptu summer vacation right before Memorial Day. Everything about this place was perfect! The landscaping and grounds are beautiful, and it is so quiet and peaceful. The cottage we stayed in was the most exquisite I had ever seen. All the furniture was high-end, and it was decorated and furnished just as a beach cottage should be. Everything was clean and they'd even turned the air conditioner before we got there so it was nice and cool when we arrived. The beach access was fantastic (hardly anyone there with us so we practically had the beach to ourselves), and the main pool area was very neat and clean. We've stayed in a lot of vacation homes over the years, but this was by far the best experience ever. And the rates were so reasonable! We will definitely be back to stay in this unit again. I would highly recommend it to anyone!

My family and I had a wonderful time together at Barefoot Cottages. The home we stayed in was clean, nicely decorated, quiet and roomy. The amenities were great, the kitchen nicely supplied, and it was great to have a washer and dryer right in the house. Staying in the condo was much better than a hotel room. It allowed us to all be together, and with plenty of space and privacy. We were able to share the cost of the stay, and being able to eat in helps cut the cost of eating out, but there were plenty of nice places to eat out when we desired to. It was nice to be so close to the beach as we were within a mile of Windmark Beach. We found that riding the bikes that were provided by Barefoot Cottages to be the best and most fun way to get there. The one thing that would have made it even better is if the check in time had been 1 hour earlier, and the check out time 1 hour later, but I understand that time is needed to keep the place as clean as it was. Oh yeah, and provide dish washing liquid. We had everything else we needed, including dishwasher detergent, so we just improvised. Thanks to everyone that provides a service, from the grounds keepers to the reservationist, that made our stay so nice.

We really enjoyed our three day stay here for a family wedding. I love the fact that there is a bathroom for each bedroom, plus a guest half bath. The place was clean and everything worked--I just wish there had been soap in each bathroom as we were there a short time and didn't think to bring soap for the bathrooms. When we checked in the young lady didn't offer any extra info even though I told her it was our first stay. Overall, however, it was a wonderful stay!

This was a great location for my family and I to relax and have quality time together. The cottages are comfortable and although many other families were there, it was still very peaceful. Will definitely go back again!

Loved that we were able to just get right in. We had a little trouble finding it at first. It was just as described. The decor was so great. The space was open and roomy. The beds were extremely comfortable. Loved the pool and hot tub the most. Truly only one thing I would have liked that we didn't have and that was a place to hang wet swimsuits and towels other than shower rods.
We were very close to everything there was to do locally. We will so definitely want to stay there again!! Thanks
Awesome As Always!

We will be back again.

We found and booked Barefoot Cottages through Southern Resorts Vacation Rentals (which I found through Google). We fell in love with the property on line and were not disappointed when we actually arrived. The cottages and grounds exceeded our expectations. I felt like I was walking into a home away from home. The kitchen was wonderful, the beds were extremely comfortable and there was ample space for the five of us to spread out. My daughter especially enjoyed the screened-in porch off of her upstairs bedroom. After a cold, busy winter in Michigan we were looking to relax and enjoy the warm Florida sun. We did exactly that! Our children swam everyday in both of the beautifully maintained pools. They rode the bikes provided by Barefoot Cottages all over the property and met many friends along the way. We enjoyed morning walks along Windmark Beach and catching afternoon waves at Mexico Beach. I would recommend Barefoot Cottages to anyone who is looking to kick back and relax. Can't wait to return to Florida's Forgotten Coast!

Absolutely Loved It!!! The cottage that we occupied was spotless, totally clean, white glove clean. The grounds well maintained, litter free. The gym was small but functional. Love the fact of having bikes on grounds (major points). We actually cooked out on the grill in the common area (nice additional and also very clean). Swimming pool and hot tub both very clean and was enjoyed by all.
1. My family normally vacation within walking distance of the beach (beach front to be exact) this cottage/community not in walking distance nor bike riding distance to the beach.
2. SNAKES!! Two snake sightings by family member – big snakes – totally not cool.
All in all great vacation, most impressed by the cleanness of the cottage, swimming pool/hot tub and grounds (neat freak – can you tell). Looking forward to “2009”. Very quiet and peaceful summer vacation, we loved it!!!

Our family loves to stay at the Barefoot Cottages for our annual Port St Joe vacation. The cottages are very comfortable and Southern Resorts always takes very good care of us. Accomodation cleanliness is one of our pet peeves and we have always had good experiences with property managed by Southern Resorts. When visiting Port St Joe, we always take our boat and the Barefoot Cottages make this easy with the dedicated trailer parking and boat wash down area. The kids love the BFC pools and the free community bikes are an extra treat. We can't wait to go back next summer.
