Description from the owner
COASTAWHILE is our beautiful 3B/R, 2.5BA home on the Gulf of Mexico. Here you can experience breathtaking sunsets and starry, moonlit nights while relaxing on the wraparound porch overlooking our secluded beach. A mere 50 feet from our door, you can enjoy wide, private, and pristine beaches where everyday offers sightings of many more dolphins than people. Stroll or jog along our wide, flat beach as you watch pelicans, seagulls, and even the occasional eagle dive into the surf in search of that perfect seafood repast. Additional Location Information
We are located on Indian Pass Peninsula halfway between Port St. Joe and Apalachicola, Florida. We are on the southernmost tip of the panhandle of Florida and our closest neighbor to the south is Honduras. This area of Florida is often referred to as the Forgotten Coast of Florida and described as "Old Florida Style". No condos, no roller coasters, just a very laid back getaway haven to a beautiful beach.

Left on 06/09/2013 for a stay in June 2013
The home was fabulous, and so close to the beach!!! Love, love, love the home being pet friendly, and loved that the beach was pet friendly. It was a little discerning when I saw cars and other atv-type of vehicles driving on the beach, especially since my four small grandchildren were with us. Though, everyone did drive slowly and were careful when passing through our beach area.
Loved the hot tub, which we used late night (for biting fly reasons-explained below). It was heaven sitting in the hot tub looking at the star-filled sky, feeling the ocean breeze and hearing the ocean waves.
Love the remote area. We had the beach to ourselves!!! The water was the perfect temp and stayed shallow for quite a distance which was perfect for our small grandchildren.
We really enjoyed the Raw Oyster Bar at Indian Pass, but be certain to get there before 4 pm if you want to avoid the crowds. It's very popular.
The only downfall was the horrible biting yellow flies which are like deer flies, but larger. We couldn't enjoy the front porch until late in the night when the flies were gone. {Though a screened porch would hinder the view a bit, at least we could have enjoyed sitting outside.} When we were outside, we had to run quickly to the beach, or inside the house to avoid getting bitten all over. I do not know if these flies are common all summer long or not, but be certain to pack lots of bug spray with Deet (Deet-free products didn't stop the biting flies), which personally I don't like to use such products, but it was better than being attacked by the flies. Luckily, the flies didn't bother us while on the beach, which apparently was too windy for them...thank goodness.
The home had everything we needed. Though I did bring my own coffee maker and blender, and I'm glad I did. The gas outdoor grill was a bit scary and aged, and wish it was in better shape, but it served it's purpose.
Our stay at Costawhile was for my 50th birthday and it was the best birthday! We have stayed at three other beach homes through the recent years for our family beach vacations, and Costawhile is our favorite by far! Wish we could have stayed more than one week. I definitely want to return and stay at Costawhile (with lots of bug spray) in the future. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy the "forgotten Florida coast" and be away from all the tourism. Very relaxing.Response from Bill Cooper - 06/13/2013
Owner
Thank you very much for your kind words about Coastawhile. The Gulf breezes usually keep the Florida bugs at bay, especially at Gulf Front. Perhaps the unusually wet Spring had an effect. As for the gas grill, we typically replace our grills every 18-24 months. It is obvious by your comments that the "sell by" date is approaching expiration. Again, thanks for visiting us and we are glad that you had such a great birthday. Bill & Sarah Cooper
