Drive right away from the airport, after about 1 km you will reach a roundabout, left will take you to Port Vila (about 10 min), right heads out to Devils point. Take the right road towards Devils Point. Follow this road for about 5 km. You will go past The Port Vila Golf Club, The Hideaway Island turnoff and then through Mele Village. You will then come to a cemetery and at this point keep left and head along the coast. By following the sealed road right you would be heading to Mele Cascades and North Efate.
The road is unsealed from here and a bit rough so take care. You are only about 1.5 km from Mele Magic. Once you pass “Island Magic” a small resort on your right you will see the” Mele Magic” Sign on the gate. You have arrived at your holiday home destination where John & Ella will be waiting for you.

I have holidayed a number of times in Vanuatu as I enjoy its laid back island style. But till now, I have always stayed in hotel accommodation in or around Vila. In December, I stayed at Mele Magic about 15 minutes out of town (only 10 minutes from the airport). I must say i prefer the villa rental experience to hotel accommodation.
Mele Magic is a big house on a huge absolute seafront block The landscaped gardens and seafront are delightful and a BBQ with a cold beverage by the ocean or on the deck overlooking the sea is just the tonic for a battery recharge. I would recommend a car so you can explore the island and be sure to enjoy the facilities of the resort 2 doors up -

We stayed here and loved its unique location on the sea. We loved the rustic beach rockpool and smaller tidal pool hand built out into the sea and corals- so Vanuatu! Also loved lazing on the little thatched hut area built out into the sea, zoning out with a nice glass of wine in the afternoons, reading my book and not having a care in the world. It was so peaceful and the ever changing sea is so facinating to watch.
There was a cyclone off the coast when we stayed and there were big seas for a few days - the smaller tidal rock pool was fantasic as we rocked around in it with the big waves crashing over it- best fun I've had since I was a kid! (Though normally its quiet safe, tame and tidal for kiddies)
The house is lovely , plenty of space and huge gorgeous gardens, very private and lots of area for the kids to run around in. The kids absolutely loved it here- there was so much to do and the snorkeling off the nearby Hideaway island was great. They have glass bottom kayaks on site- amazing fish life there off the coral, fishing rods too.
We did horseriding, buggy tours of the island , Mele cascades (a must see), adventure sports +++. Never a dull moment! Nice meals at resort next door so didnt have to cook if we didnt want to so the gals loved that. Always a breeze here too which is great and it was noticeably cooler than in Port Vila central area (though there is aircon too if you want it)
If you love a natural island life amid nature and the sea this place is great. Some really nice restaurants around too so food was good and water safe to drink. I had lobster every day !. (not expensive ) .
I can understand why people fall in love with Vanuatu and never leave! Its very easy to get in the island groove" and "manana". Cant wait to go back and chill. -

We spent two whole weeks at Mele Magic with our three teenage children and it did not disappoint. We were greeted by Valerie of Vanuatu Luxury Holiday Homes which was a bonus as she was able to take us there and some of our luggage. We hired a car through Hertz as recommended by them and that worked out really well. You do need a car if you are staying out there plus there is so much exploring to be done on the island.
The house is spacious, although a few indoor outdoor flow design issues, but for two weeks, was fantastic. Plenty of air conditioning, fans etc not that we needed much as the weather was very comfortable. The garden is tropical and spacious and very well kept by John who is a good man. Ella, his daughter is lovely and came in twice to do a bit of cleaning which was a bonus and it was good to know it would be well cleaned on our departure. The beds are really comfortable - someone has invested well in good mattresses which often lets holiday accommodation down! These are good. The kitchen is well equipped although a few small things not working which we have informed the agents and am sure they will see to. The TV system is complicated - Dvd's were all we managed and it was fine but the TV reception is not good.
The whole shore front area is well maintained - the pool was kept full and mostly freshwater - the little gazebo on the reef is fantastic and perfect for early morning coffee and contemplation as for drinks in the evening.
The neighbour's dog - Havannah aka Mele was a real bonus - a dear dog and full of character and became part of our family for two weeks, although I suspect chases John's cats!
In short, this was a great place to be with the family and highly recommend it!

We were greeted personally at the airport by the caretaker and driven directly to the property. We found the experience very relaxing and with peace of mind knowing that there was a caretaker's residence which offered us 24/7 security. The caretaker stayed out of sight, but was immediately on hand to help launch the glass bottom kayaks on one occasion. The large deck overlooking the water was the greatest and included a decktop bbq and a much needed commercial ice maker. The sea pool was excellent and the sea spa was exhilarating with the backwash of the waves supplying the propulsion of the water. A resort about 200 metres up the road had great seafood and saved us driving into town to top-up the fridge. Nice surroundings, extremely private, quiet, nice garden, I pinched the lemons for our drinks!

The home was advertised as having a pool and a spa but what a joke the pool had no water in it and the rock spa was absolutely disgusting we booked mele magic because we had two children and the pool was a big seller but what a disappointment also the house was full of cobwebs.
Not really a great experience and would not recommend.
We really should be compensated for being tricked and paying for a pool and spa.

The property has never boasted that the pool is more than Rockpool and web photos clearly show this.
The Spa is similar in that it is filled by tidal waters and can be used as a plunge pool. Maybe we will remove the word sap which does conjour up different expectations.
I have no doubt that there may have been the odd cobweb in the house but hardly cause for major concern and there is a housekeeper in the house each day who would happiply see that such a nuance was removed promtly.
We cannot apologise for the poor condition of the short strech of unsealed road (about 1Km) which at times after rains is quite rutted however this is not uncommon in Vanuatu and beyond our control and not something that has deterred the many other guests who have enjoyed this properties and others in the vicinity.
The guest book in house records many happy guests comments and not all feel the need to post their comments on public websites.
For families looking for a large spacious house with wonderful expansive gardens within easy reach of a miriad of activities in the Mele Bay area Mele Magic represents an excellent accommodation choice.
