      Recommended for families / groups!

Left on 02/18/2013 for a stay in January 2013

We were a family of 7 adults and 2 children, and had a perfect time at Mele. It was comfortable, close to town, secure, had all the amenities we needed, and the hosts, Mitch and Lynne were helpful whenever we had questions. They gave us some good pointers on how much we should pay for stuff, and we had a very relaxing time. Thoroughly recommended. The pool was fully fenced, which was great for our two kids aged one and two. Great price, and a great place to stay.

      Wonderful Stay

Left on 11/23/2012 for a stay in November 2012

We were lucky last time we were in Vanuatu that we met Lynn & Mitch. We decided to go back 9 months later an stay at Mele Beach Retreat,so glad we did.
My husband & I couldn't wait to get there with having our own private pool to walking to the beach which is only 100m away.
We had the most amazing, relaxing time there. The house is like home away from home,we could cook dinner if we wanted to,or go out to dinner with a restaurant about a 5 minute walk.We would often catch a bus into town which only takes about 10 minutes.
Lynn & Mitch both gave us great advice on the attractions and the best day to go.Nothing was ever a problem for them they even took us to the Wahoo Bar one afternoon after we finished our fishing charter. The best thing about this place is that we could relax and do nothing or catch a bus and do the touristy thing.
Would recommend to anybody ,need it be a family or just a couple like us to stay here.We can't wait to go back.

      Perfect Holiday Spot

Left on 10/22/2012 for a stay in October 2012

A beautiful place to stay, a quite spot by the beach with a wide shady balcony overlooking your very own clean, clear swimming pool. Mitch and Lynn (Kiwi's with austrailan accents!!!) manage the property with pride and are redily available and will go out of their way to be helpful with information and advice. We stayed as a group of two families and found the house very spacious, cool and clean. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking our own meals and incredibly handy to have a store right next to the main gates. The store has basic supplies such as milk bread and canned goods at reasonable prices (and also stocks meat, beer and wine if you've run out). A new aTM machine was being installed in front of the shop during our stay - another bonus! If you don't feel like cooking, also just by the property entrance is the War Horse Saloon, they serve great meals. If you want to travel it never takes more than a minute or two to catch a bus. Town is not far away in one direction and in the other, the Beach Bar is a great place for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Attractions such as the Mele Cascases and Summit gardens are also not far away. Great location - excellent place to stay!

      Amazing stay

Left on 10/09/2012 for a stay in October 2012

Our family stayed at Mele Beach Retreat and loved it. From when we landed in Vanuatu to leaving. The transfers were awesome so something we didnt have to organise. The ride to the supermarket to get the essentials to the information folder which had all sorts of activities availabe for us to enjoy while on the island. The house was soo handy to the local shop to a restaurant just walking distance to the house. Handy to catch the local bus which we managed to use and the feeling of getting home and the house is clean and beds made everyday. Loved the location of the house, the useage of the pool and BBQ as well. Will come back again for sure!!! Thank you for our memorable stay :)

Spent lots of time relaxing with lovely sea views. Easy access to town and tours with bus transport on road at front.

Left on 05/28/2012 for a stay in May 2012

We all had an amazing trip and were well looked after at Mele Beach Retreat. Fantastic location, great facilities and an amazing holiday. The home was very spacious and clean. Having the full kitchen and amenities meant we could stay in and relax around the pool for the day and cook our own meals or easily head out for a quick bite at a variety of restaurants which are all in close proximity. Very central location. Would recommend to anybody wanting a relaxing get away or adventure filled trip. Well worth it.

      Good blend of activity/relaxation

Left on 04/30/2012 for a stay in April 2012

Mitch and Lynn have thought of everything a visitor may need - starting with airport meet, stocking up at supermkt, welcome essentials provided. Lots of info and hints what/where best in town, things to do/see, transport etc.
The house is a modern bungalow - roomy, comfortable and well kitted out with all you'll need. We appreciated the books and kayaks. Outdoor pool clean and inviting. Everything well maintained.
You can walk along the beach to snorkelling island, golf course, waterfall, gardens and a beach cafe. Local transport minibuses pass frequently at the end of the house drive - only 10mins to town. Impressed by the shops and restaurants - French influence!
Mitch can organize and advise tours for you at no extra charge and saving you the hassle...would recommend this rather than DIY.
Vanuatu people very friendly and it's a good holiday destination for relaxation, families, diving/golf/fishing, island exploring, shopping (no tax).
Thanks Mitch and Lynn for being great hosts, much appreciated.

Mitch and Lynn were fabulous hosts and everything we needed was in the house and had been thought of. Absolutely recommend this house, only 10 minutes out of Villa with constant buses and taxis going by at the end of the driveway!

The best family accommodation on Efate, Vanuatu

Left on 10/30/2011 for a stay in October 2011

Mele Beach Retreat is the perfect place for a family vacation. We stayed 2 weeks there, and our family of 2 parents and 4 kids (ages 18, 17, 14 and 12) were just blown away by the friendliness of the people we met, the quality of the facilities in the house. We really relaxed, somedays doing not much but lounging around the pool, and other days hopping on a bus to Port Vila nearby, or to The Cascades and Hideaway Island just up the road. The house is in a great location allowing easy access to all attractions. And to go further afield, we rented the owners Pajero, and drove right around Efate on one day. Incredible! Having the pool was great, and the spacious mown grounds, set securely away from the main road, really gave the house a retreat feel. We could stroll down the property's lawn to the beach to watch the arrival and departure of the cruise ships, and then wander the beach to meet the friendly locals. We enjoyed exploring the extensive DVD collection in the evenings, and having the internet proved invaluable to my daughter, enabling her to complete and submit her uni assignment while on vacation!
The house and gardens were kept in a spotless condition by the cleaner and the gardener, who popped in unobtrusively each morning. Airport transfers, tour arrangements, setup shopping and knowledge of local ways were all provided by our hosts, who were on hand at our beck and call, if required, right next door. If you are seeking a no-stress holiday, with independence allowing you to experience the local culture directly, whilst staying in a quality peaceful residential setting, then Mele Beach Retreat would be perfect for you. Additionally, I would strongly recommend at least a two week stay, to fully explore the local attractions as well as allowing time to completely unwind in this tropical paradise.

Wow! What amazing accommodation. The view at the front of the house is uninterrupted to the water with a beautiful sandy beach at the water's edge. Quiet, private and peaceful but within easy access to Port Vila and attractions out to the Devil's Point Road. The house is large, spacious and well equipped for a family. Use of canoes, the swimming pool and the option to hire a car just added to the experience. Who could forget annie who visited us each day to make our stay even more enjoyable - thank you heaps. To Lynn a big thank you for all of your help while preparing to come to the island and during our stay. We would definitely use this accommodation again and recommend it to our friends.

Kick back and relax!! Uninterrupted views. Driveway to Mele Beach Retreat - a little bit of heaven

A wonderful place to stay for families or groups. We loved the convenience of having a kitchen as the food isn't so cheap in Vanuatu. The house is spotless and its really nice to have a maid come and clean your mess every day! We loved being a little out of town. It was great fun catching one of the many buses and meeting the locals...a much more authentic way to see Vanuatu. Nice and close to the waterfalls and hideaway island as well as only 10 mins to town. Finally...a big Thankyou to Lyn and Mitch who were super friendly and helpful. Mele Beach Retreat is paradise. Everything you want or need is there for you. We have been going to Port Vila for some years now, yearly and this is the best place we have found. Mitch and Lynn keep in constant contact over email and even send a photo of themselves so you can easily spot them at the airport for pick up. They have thought of everything in their accomodation, not a thing left out. We filled their house with family and children. The pool is great, the view brilliant, so clean, so tidy, so new. We even had a house girl come in daily to tidy up whippee!! Paradise. I can't imagine going anywhere else to stay now. Lynn, Mitch we are so glad we found you on Tripadvisor. We will see you next year. Thanks for your hospitality. Really appreciated all you did for us.

We have just returned from 10 days at Mele Beach Retreat. We chose Mele Beach Retreat after reading positive reviews from other visitors, and it lived up to expectations. From our first email contact with Mitch and Lynn we were confident that we were in good hands, everything was well-organised and thoughtfully done. Mele Beach Retreat is in a great location, 10 mins from Port Vila, right on the (sand) beach, very quiet. Just a 300m walk to the main road to catch very frequent bus/taxi to town or local attractions. The house is well set up for self-catering, plus plenty of extras e.g. kayaks, DVD library, mobile phone included, internet, hire vehicle/s available. The home is air-conditioned, also has ceiling fans, sparkling pool and large verandah looking out over Mele Bay. The house girl cleans and tidies daily, the gardens are immaculate and large grassed area is perfect for kicking a ball around (balls provided). Tour bookings were handled promptly and professionally, Mitch and Lynn's recommendations were spot on. On a hot day, Mele Cascades is the place to be. Lovely snorkelling at Hideaway Island and Crystal Bay Lagoon. Coongoola day cruise was a special highlight and Ekasup village feast was a fantastic night out. Thank you Mitch and Lynn for all you did to make our holiday relaxing and enjoyable.

We stayed for a week at your Mele Beach retreat and are already planning our next visit to Vanuatu.
Your retreat was everything and more than we needed and wanted.
Large rooms, air conditioning, swimming pool and private walking distance to beach.
The house girl kept the retreat clean and tidy. Everyone was friendly and helpful.
The saloon bar had the best meals on the island and right on the doorstep to the retreat.
Having access to everything at our fingertips including the internet, cellphone and bus service
made it easy to explore and visit the entire island easily.
I recommend to everyone that stays to visit Mele Cascade and the secret garden.
Coongola day cruise is also another highly recommended activity.

A group of 4 of us boys headed to Vanuatu for a of fishing, and stayed with Mitch and Lynn at their wonderful beachhouse at Mele, with plenty of room for us all and a cold six pack of Tusker Beer in the fridge when we arrived! The view from the back patio of the house is amazing as you look across the pool and out over Mele Bay. From the moment Mitch collected us from the airport, we were very well looked after with Mitch and Lynn co-ordinating arrangements with our fishing charter skipper to get us down to the harbour and back to the house every day and pointed us in the right direction when looking for a good place to grab a cold beer and a bite to eat after a long day out on the boat. I would recommend the Mele Beach House to anyone looking for a great week away, either to get away with the family, or a few days fishing with the lads!

Perfect Private Location with all amenities

Left on 08/11/2010 for a stay in March 2010

Friends and I stayed in March this year. The house is new with all mod cons and amenities/daily cleaning in a private gated community. The biggest plus with this property is the privacy, own swimming pool, right on the doorstep to the beach, next door to the golf course, and 10 mins down the road to Hideaway Island, which has awesome snorkelling and is a resort/restaurant, along with the best pizzas I've ever had at the wharf bar. The Saloon bar/restaurant is 5 mins walk. The buses in Vanuatu are actually vans which pass by regularly, and for Vt200 (approx $2) you get a ride to town, where there are many quality restaurants/bars/resorts/casino.

The waterfall is a bus ride away, as is the horse-riding. We went bare-back horseriding in the ocean, which is once in a lifetime stuff.

If you want quality and privacy, I highly recommend this property.

Very friendly hosts. Explained all amenities - local restaurants, tours, etc and even took us out for our first evening. The house is located in a gated community with fantastic seafront views. On arrival, fridge is well stocked. Bedrooms and lounge spacious and airy and there is a private swimming pool. We hired a car but buses and taxis are plentiful and Mele is only 10 minutes from the centre of Vila.
Restaurants are plentiful offering Chinese, Korean etc.
This location is beautiful. You can walk to the beach and standard of housekeeping is very high.
My husband is a keen fisherman and our host being a fisherman was able to recommend us to several charters.
There is also a firstclass golfcourse right next door to house
so husband was very happy. Hideaway island is only minutes away where my grandson went snorkelling.

Not only did she look after us while we were there she also did some baby sitting for us so we could hve some nice nights out with friends. Would recommend to anyone looking for the best while in Vanuatu. There were 4 adults and 3 children, it would be a cheap holiday for 4 couples and everything you need is there. Great Holiday.
