Additional Location Information
The urban legend of the Pearl District’s name is as extraordinary as the neighborhood itself. One story suggests that an oyster-canning factory once sat amidst the aging warehouses, another proposes that Chinese seafarers hid pearls beneath cobble-stoned Twelfth Street. Regardless of which fable you’ve heard, there is an intimation of both beauty and ugliness in the name— which conjures an image of the elegant gem nestled in a drab, rough shell, waiting to be discovered.

Chicago, IllinoisGreat location and city views
Left on 09/03/2012 for a stay in August 2012
Our unit in the Cyan building was beautiful - 15 stories up with great views, 1 block from the streetcar or light rail, next to beautiful parks. We paid a lot for the room and got our money's worth.
However, you can hear traffic noise through the windows, and the blinds let a lot of light in -- so there was no sleeping in late. The condo is designed for 2 people sleeping separately, so there was not enough space in either bedroom for my wife & me to unpack. She put her stuff in the 2nd bedroom and 2d bathroom.
In all, we'd stay here agin. -

Springfield, OregonBrand new, penthouse unit!
Left on 08/02/2012 for a stay in July 2012
Five of us - 2 couples & 1 single - stayed here for a week while attending the BHS International convention. We had a great time, and felt right at home in this newly released penthouse unit..Alfred's Inc was particularly accommodating in making this available when we were having trouble finding available housing for that week in Portland. Parking is a bit of an issue - as can be expected anywhere in downtown Portland - particularly if you have more than one vehicle. The public parking lot across the street has limited hours and while you can get to your car, you can't use the stairs or elevator.
The futon couches in the living room are very uncomfortable for sleeping on. A mattress pad is necessary.
The other residents in the building are very nice; lots of dog walkers!
We also highly recommended "the Daily Cafe" nearby. Fresh, local menu. We ate there several times - the menu changes daily! :)
