Size - Alfred's average property is well over 1000 square feet. Hotels only measure in at 325 square feet. What this means is our guests have 3 times the space to stretch out and relax.

Privacy - If you have ever shared a hotel room with another couple, friend or family member, you know how difficult it can be to get a good night's sleep. Our guests get the luxury of enjoying their own private bedrooms without the interruptions found in hotels.

Kitchens - So where do you put ice cold drinks or chips and dip in a hotel room? We haven't figured it out either. We have fully-functional kitchens which include refrigerators, ovens, and microwaves.   We loved the location of this apartment, less than two blocks to the street car that runs from northwest to downtown, via the Pearl District. The apartment was very nice, nicely furnished and equipped. The only suggestion, as covered in previous reviews is that the furniture tends to be uncomfortable, particularly the sofas. The beds are adequate. But for the location, the ease, the convenience and the overall charm of the apartment and the common areas, we would highly recommend.

  Every year I come back for the dental conference located at the convention center on the east side. This year, we decided to stay in a condo because we have a lab puppy and needed a comfortable place that allowed dogs. We couldn't have made a better choice! Before arriving, a very thorough information packet is sent to you providing you with everything you need to know. Our unit was on the top floor and absolutely gorgeous. We had a great view out the living room windows! The kitchen had everything you could need. The place was immaculately clean. The unit was very quiet and we never heard our neighbors. The only noise was the typical city noise that lulls you to sleep at night! The best part of the condo is the location! The Pearl District has everything you could ever want, from swanky boutiques to delicious, unique cuisines. The unit is also right on the streetcar line which worked great for me to take me to the convention center. My mother was with me to help take care of the dog, and she and the dog were able to ride the streetcar all over downtown Portland. Although we didn't take advantage of the MaX line, that is also accessible by riding the streetcar to the nearest MaX line location. We had a vehicle, but never needed to use it. There is a Safeway directly across the street to buy anything you may need to stock the kitchen. There were just a few small issues that popped up that prevented me from giving the full 5 stars. The couches in the unit are awful! They were so uncomfortable, almost to the point of not wanting to sit on them. The fire pit in the courtyard did not work and we only found out after we packed a whole picnic to take down there. The elevator in the garage can take a long time to pick you up. And there was a race scheduled the day we left that we didn't know about. If my mom would not have heard about the race previously, we would never had known and we would not have been able to access the roads to get her to the airport in time.

  Thank you so much for choosing Alfred’s Vacation Rentals! We are honored to have you as our guest! We have 2 units left to do for the couch change-overs. We are sorry about the race as well. There is too many events going on, we will try and do better about informing our guests about what is going on in the city. We have spoken to management about the other issues and ensured us that they are being fixed by the end of the week, minus the slower elevator. We will have to live with that.
