In a spectacularly beautiful and peaceful situation at the tip of the Tarbat Ness peninsula, this historic former lighthouse keeper’s cottage enjoys magnificent unobstructed views - eastwards over low cliffs across the Moray Firth to the Cairngorms and westwards over pasture to the Dornoch Firth and Sutherland mountains. Stayed here for my 50th Birthday. An absolute unique location. Interior could do with some more modern furnishings, but totally functional. Great enclosed garden. Portmahomack has a good general store which has most things you need. Nice cafe at the Carnegie Hall. Nice places we visited were Tain - Glassworks, Tain Pottery, Anta Pottery. Only stayed for a week, so will have to return to see more.

The location says it all! Staying in a keepers cottage of a lighthouse on the tip peninsula looking at the North Sea. What a unique location. The rock walled yard is spacious and all grass. Enough room for a serious soccer game. The keepers cottage is old and quaint, but that is what we expected. The bunkbeds and games were a big hit for our granddaughter and she loved having her own room. This is a great place for kids and fishermen! The views are wonderful. Seeing Dunrobin Castle on the other side of the firth was really fun. If you want a unique location, this is the place!

We enjoyed the location very much as it was very peaceful. It had good walks around the area plus seeing all the different wildlife. The dogs enjoyed the freedom of the garden. Easy access to other visitor attractions. Highly recommend it for a quiet and relaxing break form the "rat race".

Me and my partner stayed at the Lighthouse and we loved it. We were looking for something a bit difference and out in the open as we had taken our dog with us and we definately found that here. Set in its own grounds and a large walled garden your not lost for outside space. Inside is a bit old but it just adds to the character but there's enough home comforts to keep you happy. Although we went in winter and the snow was chucking down it was amazing and really added to the holiday.

The location of this property is intoxicatingly exotic. It is easy to feel as though you are alone on a little island in the North Sea with only seabirds and cattle for company. However, the actual accommodations are cramped, dark, dreary and in dire need of updating. There is no dining room and some of the rooms smell rather funky. But the location... It's a once in a lifetime experience.

This property appealed because of its remoteness and proximity to the sea. The location is absolutely stunning and is a special place to stay.
