      Great Shape

Left on 08/11/2012 for a stay in June 2012

Beautiful location and views that are breathtaking. The home is in good shape and very tastefully done. Kitchen is typical of european homes, very small but functional. Lacks wifi or internet connection and must ask for ahead of time to ensure you can be set up for an additional fee. Portovenere is a lovely town and a good place to tour from with La Spezia and the train station just 12km away. Cinque Terre Riveria was responsive to our needs and very helpful. Be careful however of the location, many steps to and from this rental and for those that may have trouble with steps this is not the place for them, it is quite a work out and when you leave after your vacation you will be in "great shape".

      Amazing House

Left on 12/28/2011 for a stay in October 2011

I think the other reviews are not for agave Marina, which is the house detailed here and the home in the pictures of this listing. Agave Marina is in Portovenere, not Corniglia. We stayed in agave for almost a month from mid October to early November. The home is gorgeous, clean, has an amazing layout, and is very thoughtfully and well appointed by the owners. The home has several (!) outside terraces overlooking the sea and outdoor furniture to lounge in -- the view is incredible and I will remember it forever. It seemed there was almost as much house outside as inside, which is a great feature considering the incredible view. The bedrooms are in the lower level of the house which allows for privacy. All amenities are accounted for -- washer, clothing line, everything you need to cook and serve food (including fancier dishes and glass wear), small appliances (coffee maker, etc.), tons of linens, satellite TV (although not too many English channels), and wi-fi (on request). The real estate agency was a pleasure to deal with, spoke excellent English, replied to calls and emails in a timely manner before and during our trip. She even reached out to us when a storm was coming (only one day, and great to view from the house) because she realized we couldn't read the paper or understand the TV. The home is great base for which to explore the region - we went to Cinque Terre, northern Tuscany (Lucca, Pisa), parts of Emilia Romagna (Parma, Modena, etc.), La Spezia (great daily market in town and good gym) and of course Portovenere (very Riviera-ish with several restaurants overlooking the sea). The living room is surrounded by floor to ceiling sliding doors giving an amazing view from inside as well. We had one day of rain which brought down many leaves and the owner was quick to arrive to sweep it all up even though we did not ask. They walked us through all the features of the house - outside lighting, electronic shades, etc. Two things we were not aware of before we went: 1) The house is reachable by several flights of stone stairs from the road/parking above or from the town below. You need to be in good shape to get up and down - this was fine for us, it would have been harder if we had very young children or someone elderly with us. 2) Portovenere is about a 20 minute walk from the house - first down a long flight of stairs to the road and then you walk into town alongside the road/sea. (There is a smaller part of town that is about 10 minutes away) This should not dissuade you at all, because the house would not have its view without its height and you are part of a real neighborhood, not crowded in with tourists in the main part of town. All is meant was that we kept our rental car longer that anticipated, and we suggest others do as well. It makes it easier to get into Portovenere and the surrounding towns (Le Grazie) for supplies and the house has private parking so it was no problem. Overall, this is a beautiful, well designed, well appointed villa with a great location and wonderful representatives (owner and agent). The photos included very accurately represent the property. Highly Recommended.

Clean and tidy digs in a great location away from the crowds

Left on 08/15/2011 for a stay in July 2011

Cinque Terre was one of the highlights of our Euro vacation, even though we struck some bad weather whilst there. Corniglia is the least commercialised of the 5 towns, allowing us to get to see more of the real locals. Dining out was also quite good in such a small place.
Our accommodation was modern, clean and tidy, with a nice balcony area where we enjoyed the odd drop of champagne (we came via France) and local wine.
However, probably best to choose another CT town if you aren't keen on steps! Also, check to make sure the walking trails are open (some areas were closed due to landslides and wet weather) and bring sensible shoes.

      Very relaxing

Left on 06/27/2011 for a stay in May 2011

We stayed here for four nights in May.
The location is great, the town has a very nice and friendly feel.
The checkin was a breeze, I recommend you book in for breakfast with the owner on atleast one morning.
The apartment was up a decent flight of stairs, it had ocean outlook and a great view back up the terraced hills. The apartment was clean and well contained.
We would love to go back to a Scugiera.

      Excellent stay in Corniglia

Left on 05/07/2010 for a stay in June 2009

We were very pleased with our accommodations in Corniglia. We had been given a phone number to call when we arrived in the village and our contact was there within a minute of our call to collect us and deliver us to our apartment. The place was lovely, very spacious with wonderful views of the mountains, ocean and the village. A lovely bottle of local wine awaited us, which was a treat. The breakfast in the garden each morning was delightufl and the food abundant and delicious. I would highly recommend this place. This was my third time staying the Cinque Terra, my first in Corniglia and this apartment. If I am lucky enough to return to this area I would definately stay here again.
