190760Our Perfect Holiday Location
Left on 01/19/2012 for a stay in September 2010
The cottage is located in a dream position in a stunning garden with spectacular views over the Straits of Raasay. It is decorated and furnished to a very high standard which made our stay extremely comfortable and the owners could not have been more welcoming and by the end of our fortnight there we felt as though we were saying goodbye to good friends.Brae's Retreat is in the perfect position for exploring the whole island and despite going to different places every day we still have a list of places to visit which we did not manage on our first visit. We definitely plan a return visit as soon as possible and would not entertain staying anywhere else.

Barnsley, South YorkshireStunning location and a beautiful cottage
Left on 01/09/2012 for a stay in May 2011
We have stayed in holiday cottages all over Britain and Ireland and Braes Retreat is by far the best we have ever found. We have returned to Braes Retreat every year since 2008, as we know that we will always receive a fantastic welcome and that the cottage is in a superb location for exploring the stunning Isle of Skye.
Braes Retreat is luxurious and comfortable and has every convenience you could possibly need to make your stay as relaxing as possible, especially if the weather is bad and you feel like staying at home for the day and watching the amazing array of birds in Rob and Hayley's beautiful garden.
We would highly recommend Braes Retreat to anyone who is looking for a romantic getaway or as the perfect base for walking and exploring the rest of the Island. -

deggendorfholiday of our life (2nd chapter)
Left on 12/25/2011 for a stay in August 2011
breas retreat is the best holiday appartment we ever stayed in and we would go nowhere else on skye. we immediatly felt at home here. the furniture. the kitchen and the bathroom are of a very high quality and standard, the appartment is spotlessly clean. it is the perfect retreat for a couple. braes retreat is the right place to relax. the place is very quite, the views are great and the garden that belongs to property is very special indeed. although the place is very quite, it is only a 15 minutes ride to portree. the braes is the spot to explore the whole of the island. the owners, rob and hayley, are very kind and helpful.

GlasgowThe Retreat is very well appointed and in a fantastic setting.
Left on 12/20/2011 for a stay in October 2011
Thanks to Rob & Hayley for a very warm welcome. The Retreat was absolutely spotless and had everything I needed for my weeks stay. Very warm and cosy to come back to after a good day walking and exploring the island. The area is very peaceful and set in such a fantastic and well cared for garden. It was an inspiration for me to develop my own garden more - pack in some more plants.
Thanks again for all your help. -

BristolBraes Retreat - a special little corner of Skye
Left on 12/17/2011 for a stay in October 2011
Rob and Hayley are warm and friendly hosts with the most beautiful location to share at Braes Retreat. The cottage has everything you could possibly need to make the stay snug and relaxing through the autumn and winter months, including a lovely woodburner and a luxurious bed! I was struck by the views from the Retreat, spending ages simply watching the weather over the Sound of Raasay, so beautiful. The gardens in autumn were a sea of colour and have been landscaped and tended with real care and skill. Walking from the door to the shore takes moments, affording beautiful views all round. With Portree just a few miles away it was easy to get out and do other things although leaving the Retreat was frequently difficult as it was so lovely just to stay in!

Upminster EssexThe perfect place to stay on Skye for a couple, self catering
Left on 12/10/2011 for a stay in May 2011
This was our 2nd stay with Rob & Hayley and for a warm and generous welcome it just can't be bettered. Beautifully presented and maintained acommodation but very homely & stunning garden & views guaranteed, whatever the weather. Ideal for visiting Portree and for walks but also for staying put & enjoying some tranquillity. Not for those challenged with mobility as there are steep steps to get those unrivalled views of the garden & Raasay.
