Description from the owner
The Bothy at Number 7 is a recently constructed 1-bedroomed cottage - 5-star rated - on croft Number 7 Achachork, overlooking Portree and the Cuillin mountains, on the Isle of Skye.
It provides luxurious accommodation for two and is available by the week or for short breaks (minimum now 3 nights before Easter, 4 nights after that). We get many guest comments such as "rarely does a property far exceed expectations as the Bothy does" and on first being shown round we often hear gasps of delight - it's such a pleasure taking guests into the Bothy.

Stayed at the bothy for 4 nights in May. The facilities were fantastic, everything we could have needed and more ! We arrived to find some lovely treats waiting for us which was a nice surprise. Accommodation is very high quality as are all the furnishings. Lots of little extras like the large dvd library & the folders of local information were very helpful and were a thoughtful addition to the standard self catering features.
Excellent location as it is nicely tucked away so has a peaceful feel yet is close enough to Portree to pop out for dinner etc if you wanted to. The weather could not have been much worse when we were on Skye, meaning having somewhere nice and inviting was even more important. The huge bath and lovely sauna were therefore much appreciated.
The accommodation is also spotlessly clean. The owners stayed in contact before we arrived to ensure we had all the info we needed and the housekeeper called soon after we arrived to make sure we had everything we needed. Excellent service and we will be back ! -

Wow, from the moment we arrived untill the moment we left we could not have been any happier. Great hosts, Elizabeth and Rob, fantastic location, fantastic Bothy. Nothing was to much trouble for them, always on hand if need be. The bothy was like a luxury hotel but with bags of room, bathroom to die for and a sauna upstairs. We highly recommend this place, ten out of ten.

Wow, what a brilliant place to stay! Rob and Elizabeth are the best hosts one could wish for and staying at the Bothy over Xmas was like coming to stay with friends. We were surprised and delighted to receive a Christmas card prior to our visit and then when we arrived were thrilled to find that they had decorated the Bothy for us, including a most wonderful Christmas tree. They were also thoughtful enough to provide a welcome hamper of Christmas goodies (chocolate, bubbles, cake etc). A delightful start to what has been a wonderful Christmas break. Skye is a magical island with beautiful scenery at every turn. The Bothy provides the perfect place to return to after exploring the island - curl up in front of the woodburner and gaze out of the panoramic windows at the ever changing weather! We will definitely be back.

Although the Bothy had excellent reviews from previous quests experience tells you to be a little cautious in case its not quite that good. Absolutely no need for any apprehension. As soon as we arrived and were met by Elizabeth and Rob and shown around we knew we'd made the right decision to stay at the Bothy for our first visit to Skye.
The accommodation is first class and deserves the many accolades its received. Its a brilliant location to explore the Island and with its combination of stunning views, top quality fixtures, fittings, accessories and of course the wood burning stove it's probably unique. Our advice - just go there and enjoy. -

Everything about The Bothy at no 7 is perfect from the warm welcome from Rob and Elizabeth and Rob to the perfect wood burning stove. The accommodation really is 5 star with a fantastically equipped kitchen to the most luxurious bathroom. Location wise it is situated in a very peaceful idyllic version yet within striking distance of the restaurants of Portree meaning you really do get the best of both worlds. We couldn't believe that it has been here since 2007 - it is so pristine you would think it has just opened. Can't recommend highly enough.

My husband and I stayed here on the night of our wedding and the three days after. From the moment we walked in after our wedding reception we were completely blown away by how amazing the Bothy was. The standard of decor is outstanding. Five star luxury throughout. Rob and Liz have spared no expense in the decor of the Bothy. Not only that but it seemed the more we looked around the more little touches and surprises there were. This is absolutely the best place both of us have ever stayed. It felt like a home from home. They really have thought of absolutely everything. Rob and Liz are so welcoming and friendly too! They take a genuine interest in all their guests. We regularly visit Skye a few times a year and would not hesitate to stay here again and recommend it to everyone! I absolutely cannot stress how wonderful this place is! We had a fantastic time here and it was the icing on the cake to our already perfect wedding.

Left on 08/27/2012 for a stay in August 2012
My wife and i came here for part of our mini-moon directly after our wedding. Skye is a fair drive from aberdeen so if you are traveling from there i'd advise a little stop off to recharge the batteries. When we arrived Rob and Liz were there to greet us and give us the guided tour of the bothy. The bothy has been furnished and fitted to a very high standard and feels like home the second you walk in. Rob and Liz even supplied us with a nice welcome pack with local produce and some chocolates. There was also a guide with a weather report for the week of our stay which was a nice touch. The bothy is proper 5 star luxury and is the perfect base to explore Skye. Rob and Liz were the perfect hosts and left you in peace and if there was anything you needed they were more than happy to help. We ate at the 3 chimneys and Kinloch Lodge whilst we were on Skye and both were really nice. We will definitely return to the bothy again as this place is top class and the views from the living area of the Cullin's are worth every penny. We were really lucky and only had one day of rain and even managed to do some sunbathing. Even if it is raining the bothy is filled with Dvd's and has has the full Sky TV package so there is always something to do. If your looking for somewhere to stay on Skye this is the place!!!

Our service was attentive but not intrusive.
Having stayed in many places worldwide the Bothy was the perfect retreat from which to enjoy Skye; with its sauna being a particular favourite.
The location is close enough to Portree for the amenities but just far enough out to be quiet.
There was really nothing we did not like and our only complaint was that our stay passed all too quickley. -

The perfect place to spend time together after a hectic wedding. Quiet, stunning, secluded and beautifully designed. Every time we realised we needed something we found it in the Bothy! Wonderful and friendly hosts, perfect location (can walk into Portree, but far enough out to feel more isolated). It was everything we wanted - from the champagne and flowers on arrival, to the sauna and slippers - and we'd love to come back.

The Bothy was fantastic - we were blessed with great May weather and it proved a great place from which to explore the island. It had everything we needed, which meant that although we were out exploring in the day, we'd come back in the afternoon to enjoy dinner at home in the Bothy, enjoying the fabulous views and sunsets.
The location was good - a 2 mile walk into central Portree, but far enough away to feel remote, and all of the things we wanted to do on the island were within an hour's drive. Rob & Elizabeth were very friendly and helpful, as were the recommendations from previous Bothy guests and plenty of guide books and ideas. The Bothy was very well furnished and equipped, which helped make it a week to remember.

We stayed here for the Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend - a short visit but we were fortunate to be the only corner of the UK where the sun shone for the whole four days. The Bothy is a luxurious holiday home with everything you need for a comfortable stay and many thoughtful little touches. We were almost disappointed that the weather was not cold enough to light the wood burning stove! Rob and Elizabeth were charming, attentive but unobtrusive hosts. On top of all that you have the fantastic scenery of the Cuillin mountains to look at, and easy access to other parts of the beautiful Isle of Skye. What more could you want?!

We were made very welcome at The Bothy at No 7 by friendly and knowledgeable hosts Rob and Elizabeth. We were there to celebrate a birthday and our hosts had thoughtfully provided flowers, cake, and other goodies on arrival!
The cottage located just outside Portree in a nice quiet location. It is very well equipped (wood-burning stove, sauna, luxurious bathroom and bedroom, music CDs, Dvds, Wi-Fi, and information library).
All parts of the island are within easy reach of the cottage and our hosts provided good suggestions for places worth visiting.
The weather was hot and sunny for the whole week when we were there and we were out and about every day. That said, there was still not enough time to enjoy everything that the island has to offer.
We'll definitely be back at The Bothy for more! -

We arrived to a very warm welcome from Elizabeth ! The cottage was wonderful in every way and the photos do not do it justice.
The amazing bathroom with the double bath and rain shower, the sauna and gym area and oh the views ! The cottage caters for your every whim and you need to bring anything other than yourself! It even has flasks and tupperwares for your picnic/packed lunch.
It was extremely clean and Fiona (housekeeper) did a wonderful job of making us feel as if the cottage was cared for and in turn that it was important that we were comfortable. The whole cottage was spotless.
All the small things made a big difference, Rob and Elizabeth have done a great job of pulling together various folders about the local area and Skye. Everything from local walks, gift shops and restaurants are listed. The information is accessible and interesting, great to read in front of the wood burning fire !
There is a collection of books to read and caters for all tastes.
You will go to Skye to walk and explore, you will end up staying in, as the cottage is too good to be true !
Enjoy, I know I did ! What a wonderful example of good quality ! -

As somebody who renovates property as a business, I always tend to check on how others do it. Has the painting been done well? What short cuts have been taken to cut costs?. In this property I could find nothing to criticise. Looking at the visitors book, I was amazed at how fresh and clean this property was after several years on rental. It looks and feels as new as the day it was built.
It is obvious with the attention to detail in the fittings, furnishings and basic initial provisions, that considerable thought, care and attention to detail has gone in to this Bothy. Altogether highly recommended.
As for Skye itself, wild, rugged with plenty of rain, then after all it was October and you don't choose Skye if sunbathing is your thing! Plenty of bracing walks for the casual walker right up the scale to the serious climber. Transport essential. -

A lovely cottage conveniently close to Portree and with great views of the Cuillin (weather permitting!). Rob and Elizabeth were extremely welcoming and lovely neighbours for the week. The Bothy was spotlessly clean and very well equipped; an iPod doc and sky plus were much appreciated. A super-king sized bed, rather than a king size would have been nice however. Rob and Elizabeth have put together an amazing array of information about things to do in Skye and have organised this helpfully rather than just leaving loads of leaflets for guests. We really appreciated this and also the fact that they provided walking books and maps for guests. Highly recommend!

Our experience of UK self catering properties over the years has been very disappointing. We've had more than our fair share of dirty ovens, foggy windows, things that don't work, lumpy beds and strange odours - and worst of all the crumbs, hair and other reminders of previous guests.
I'm delighted to report that The Bothy is an exception to all of the above. From the moment we arrived to be greeted by our lovely hosts Elizabeth and Rob, we knew we were in for a treat. The property is gorgeous, and has been carefully designed to ensure it knocks your socks off - the views from the beautiful open plan living area are breathtaking, the kitchen is glossy and shiny, the bedroom is cosy and inviting, and the glamorous bathroom is like having your own personal spa. The icing on this delicious cake is the galleried room upstairs which reveals an extensive office/project room, fitness equipment, and a sauna! And the whole place is spotlessly clean.
The Bothy is so comfortable and welcoming that, despite the world class charm and spectacle of Skye that awaits, it's actually quite hard to drag yourself away. The temptation instead is to light a log fire, put your feet up, admire the view from the comfy sofas, and drink in the peace and quiet.
We had the most relaxing holiday and can't wait to return. If you are looking for a superb couples retreat, with every comfort and convenience, peace, tranquility and relaxation, book The Bothy and No7 - you won't be disappointed. -

The Bothy has to be the best holiday house we have ever stayed in. So modern. A great deal of thought has gone into the furnishings and equipment needed by guests. So clean too. Great views from the panoramic windows. The owners were there to greet us when we arrived and on hand should there be any problems ( which there weren't). Lots of instructions for use of the appliances. Broadband computer a huge advantage and land line phone very useful, as there was not always a mobile signal.Sky TV too--great as Wimbledon was on.
Portree now has an excellent Coop and fresh fish and shellfish can bought from the little shop on the pier.So self catering is now really exciting for foodie lovers.
We just loved this place and are planning our next trip. It can't come soon enough. -

I've been visiting Skye for many, many years staying with friends in Portree. Having moved to australia in 2006 it was tme to return with my wife to show her what a special place this island is. And where better to stay and indulge in luxury, total peace and quiet and views to die for.
This is more than 5-star, it is everything you could think of to make your stay on Skye one to remember, to talk about with friends and family and sets a benchmark that we know we'll struggle to exceed anywhere else. For that very reason, we'll be back again and again.

Left on 05/17/2011 for a stay in August 2010
The Bothy is a wonderful place to escape to and spoil yourself in the luxurious surroundings in this little bit of paradise.
Perfectly placed with fine views over Portree to the Cuillin (which for the week we were there were almost always mist free) the Bothy is a longish walk / short taxi ride from Portree itself. A well appointed kitchen with just about every utensil you might need is open plan with a comfortable lounge / dining area. The views from the lounge over the Cuillin and of the sunset were great and we never tired of feasting on both.
The bedroom is spacious, comfortable and better appointed than many top hotels I've had the good fortune to stay in. The bathroom is, however, in a different league to anything you are likely to have experienced; with the extra wide shower and double ended bath it is a place to pamper yourself and your loved one.
The bothy is unashamedly romantic and is the ideal place for a couple to slip away for some time together. Other than an unending shower of rose petals (and who knows they might have installed this now!), there isn't much that a couple could ask for.
Rob and Elizabeth (and their four legged friends) make you feel very welcome (more like friends than guests staying in a holiday let) and are a mine of useful information on Skye and what to do there.
Highly recommended as a romantic retreat to recharge your batteries and enjoy time together in sumptuous surroundings. -

We were very lucky with the weather during our stay and so got to do lots of walking and exploring of the island but were very happy to have one day when the weather forced us to stay indoors... we shut out the world and enjoyed all that the Bothy has to offer - double bath, huge shower, sauna, cross-trainer, shortbread, an extensive DVD library, guide books and lots of recommendations from previous visitors. Never have we been so contented to stay indoors on holiday! We returned to London feeling truely relaxed. A real gem and we would love to return one day.

Cambridge, UKA superb property in an outstanding location
Left on 09/06/2010 for a stay in August 2010
The Bothy at Number 7 fulfils every requirement of the traveller to Skye. It has been built and fitted to an extremely high specification and is the best property we have ever stayed in. The window views are beautiful and it is possible, (weather permitting), to see some wonderful sunsets. The location, close to Portree, is ideal for travelling around this scenic island and one couldn't wish for more friendly and helpful hosts than Rob and Elizabeth.

This is a great location from which to explore Skye. The Bothy itself is stylish, spacious, comfortable and well-equipped. The views towards Portree and the Cuillins are stunning. Exemplary hosts, Rob and Elizabeth, are on hand for advice/suggestions, if needed. A real find and highly recommended.

Fantastic accommodation with every luxury you could imagine or possibly need for a relaxing and enjoyable break! Rob and Elizabeth go the extra mile to make guests feel welcome and at home! It is the best holiday cottage we have ever stayed in - that is why we were back for the second year in a row!

Left on 06/16/2010 for a stay in May 2010
The Bothy is situated handily close to Portree with all of its facilities but is in a peaceful location outside the town. It is a useful base for exploring the rest of the island but is also ideal for simply relaxing and enjoying all of the five-star comfort of the accommodation. The owners Rob and Elizabeth are close by and have a good knowledge of the island if you have any questions. The open-plan living space is a highlight - the windows to the south give on to the Cuillins, a spectacular sight whether the peaks are clear or in cloud. The kitchen is very well-equipped and there are various options for entertainment - Idock, TV with Sky, PC with broadband. The bathroom is wonderful - a real power shower and separate huge bath. We were lucky with the weather so the log burner wasn't used - almost worth returning for in the autumn. We have stayed in various five-star self-catering cottages in the Highlands & Islands and the Bothy is more than a match for any of them.

A great place to base yourself for exploring Skye. Very comfortable with all the facilities one requires. Fantastic views from the living/dining area over the Cuillins. Perfect for chilling out.
Only one very small criticism - there is no storage for bikesResponse from Rob & Elizabeth Corcoran - 06/19/2010

Thanks Mark and Keri. Re bike storage - we will be installing a lockable bike store very soon complying with our new membership of VisitScotland's Cyclists Welcome Scheme criteria.

We arrived with high expectations after having researched the internet thoroughly. These expectations were more than met.
From the moment we arrived we felt immediately at home and as our stay continued we realised that everything about the Bothy oozed quality and the attention to detail was second to none.
When we next return to Skye we would again wish to stay at the Bothy. -

We received a most wonderful welcome from Rob and Elizabeth. A tray was set for tea, pancakes, jam and even an Easter egg on our arrival - lovely after a long journey. Everything was first class - the house was so comfortable, warm and very homely. We planned our outings each day using the information provided and the Internet. The bathroom was most luxurious - we especially liked the heated floor! We thoroughly enjoyed exploring Skye and found the walks great. We got a small book "31 walks in Skye" in the Tourist Information which was very useful for planning our walks. Dunvegan Castle, The Old Man of Storr and the Coral beach were among the best.
Trying to find what we like least about the holiday is easy - going home! We would love to have had another week to enjoy the rest and comfort of the Bothy and explore more of the island. -

Rob and Elizabeth (and Alfie dog), are the perfect
hosts. Welcoming, friendly and helpful but not
obtrusive. They are a good source of local
knowledge.
They have succeeded in creating a perfect getaway
for couples. The Bothy is equipped and maintained
to a very high standard; it would be perfectly
possible to enjoy your stay without setting foot
outside until it was time to leave. The views from
inside and outside The Bothy are stunning; in one
direction across open moorland towards Portree
which, when lit up at night in particular, is
dramatic, and also, in a different direction,
towards the setting sun.
The Bothy is within twenty minutes walk, downhill,
into Portree. A lovely circular walk will also take
you back to The Bothy via a coastal route which is
full of interest, including a good chance to see
White-tailed Sea Eagles.
The Bothy is well situated to see the Isle of Skye,
whatever your interest i.e. sightseeing, dramatic
mountain and coastal scenery, historical sites and
natural history galore. There are some tremendous
places to eat on Skye, to suit all tastes.
You could of course relax in the massive bath (with
it's own view), or get a sweat on in the Sauna or
on the Cross-trainer, or, alternatively, simply
stare out of the windows at the fabulous scenery.
In every respect we enjoyed a perfect holiday.
Drawbacks ? - none

Arriving at the Bothy the first thing you notice was the amazing view, beautiful
an spacious layout and warm reception. Next you will discover all the delicate
touches of luxury and thought that have gone into creating such a special
place. The sauna, the deep deep bath, crazy shower, goody basket, sky tv,
computer with wireless, guest notes.. the list is endless. We had a glorious
week of sunshine up in Skye, by the end we were praying for a rainy day so
we could have a guilt free day lazing in the Bothy, enjoying a sauna and
sticking the wood burning stove on. Friday obliged and we had an amazing
end to the week, cuddled up in front of the fire.
Skye is like a mini New zealand, with great walks through awe inspiring rock
formations and faery pools, and the Bothy is the perfect place to discover it.
Rob, Elizabeth (and Alfie dog) were great hosts and rightly proud of what they
have created. Amazing honeymoon. -

We stayed at the Bothy at Number 7 at the last minute due to the Icelandic volcano scuppering our planned holiday to Italy. The Bothy at Number 7 is so lovely we have forgiven the volcano for making us cancel our much planned Italian holiday. The long drive there is worth every mile. We cannot decide on one highlight; whether it be amazing double, or in our case triple bath, (we have a 6 month old little son), sauna, the view or the beautiful log fire. Our advice would be treat your self to a stay at the Bothy at Number 7 you won't regret it.

Left on 04/16/2010 for a stay in February 2010
What a place! My wife and I wanted to visit Skye for our honeymoon and stay somewhere with style and luxury. The Bothy at Number 7 really exceeded our expectations on all levels!
Being reasonably close to Portree was a great advantage for being close to shops, pubs and restaurants. The property itself is beautifully decorated, mixing traditional elements with modern touches and furnished to the highest standards. The real log fire is a brilliant addition to the spacious living area and makes for a relaxing and warm ambiance. The views from the living room are absolutely superb and the large windows allowed us to fully appreciate the Bothy's location.
Rob and Elizabeth were always there when we wanted them, very lovely and very helpful but unobtrusive and pleasant!
Things we really liked: a huge bathtub, the best shower cubicle short of a spa, a private sauna, a very comfortable bed, a sofa with reclining foot stools, did we mention the view?
Things we didn't like: we had to leave at the end of the honeymoon!
People usually go to Skye for the hillwalking but we found ourselves spending most of our time in the comfort and luxury of The Bothy at Number 7! Highly highly recommended! -

Our stay in The Bothy at Number 7 was more fantastic than we could possibly have imagined. There cannot be a better place for a honeymoon. Every aspect of the Bothy was five-star luxury and this was of course matched by the Skye scenery, particularly with the festive snow.
Rob, Elizabeth and Alfie Dog went out of their way to ensure that we felt at home in the Bothy as soon as we walked in. The service was perfect. Little touches, like Chhristmas cards, presents and decorations helped make it a magical week.
I would highly recommend the Bothy. -

West MidlandsOur Wedding Week
Left on 11/11/2009 for a stay in October 2009
My wife and I reecently tied the knot on the Isle of Skye and we spent one of the most wonderful weeks of our lives. We stayed at the 'Bothy at Number 7', our sanctuary during a week of wedding celebrations. We booked up over 1 year prior to our wedding and having seen all the photos on the various internet sites, we couldn't wait to get to 'Our Bothy'! Expectation can often lead to disapointment. However, in this case, that couldn;t have been further from the truth. The Bothy was by far the highest quality self catering accomodation we have ever stayed in and Rob and Elizabeth couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful! They struck a perfect balance between leaving us to ourselves and being on hand if needed. Our only regret was that, with many family members and friends staying on the Isle, we didn't get as much chance as we would have liked to hide away in the Bothy. We will return though! However, next time we'll come on our own and make far more use of the luxuries that the Bothy has to offer!

Left on 11/09/2009 for a stay in August 2009
We spent the second week of our honeymoon on the Isle of Skye at the Bothy and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone. The best bath and shower in the world and the wonderful wood burning stove to make the evenings cosy. Sky TV, internet connection and use of the landline phone ensure you can maintain contact with the rest of the world - if you want to. Great book collection and good range of DVDs. The sauna is also fantastic. There is wonderful attention to detail in the decor and little added extras which made our stay so special
Its not far from Portree which is lovely for going out for a meal or a couple of drinks. Its also very convenient for sightseeing - very near the Old Man of Storr - and enjoying the peace of the countryside. -

Left on 11/09/2009 for a stay in September 2009
We arrived in a sunny Skye in September 2009 to the Bothy at Number 7. It's newly built but uses local materials and blends in well with the scenery.
As you walk in and see the panoramic view from the living room you know you stepped in somewhere magical.
It was the little touches that did our visit so special. Upon arrival there is a welcome basket with pancakes from the local bakery in Portree. The woodburner was set and little chocolates by the bedside.
The kitchen is equipped with everything you can ask for and upstairs there is lots of information abotu the island, maps and even computer with free wifi.
The highlights were to be able and cook in an open kitchen, whilst chatting to your partner and seeing the fire roaring and beautiful view. At night the lights from Portree makes it really cosy.
The only thing we would liked to have seen was another mattress topping, as the bed felt a bit hard after a couple of nights. But that did get outweighed by all the positives.Response from Rob & Elizabeth Corcoran - 06/19/2010
Owner
We have now added a mattress topper for extra comfort.

This is our third visit to the bothy and it just gets better! Rob and Elizabeth have done a great job of creating a haven on a wonderful island. The bothy is so comfortable it is very hard to drag yourself away from the roaring log burner! But that is ok, because you can enjoy the views of Portree and the awesome Cuillin Mountains from the luxury of the sofa. The bothy has every possible extra you could wish for from the eclectic dvd collection for those rainy days to hand made local chocolates tempting you by your bedside. If you enjoy the outdoors, there are plenty of walks from the doorstep or for the more adventurous the walks and scenery are second to none. The Bothy is a perfect place for a completing relaxing break or if you are keen walkers you will be blown away by the diversity of the landscape. I have travelled extensively and the bothy tops them all, so big congratulations to Rob and Elizabeth for creating a unique paradise on a very special island. We will be booking our fourth visit very soon!
