This detached, single-storey cottage is in an elevated position in the friendly crofting community of Kensaleyre on the Isle of Skye, 7 miles from Portree, and can sleep up to 9 people in 4 bedrooms. Dun Eighre is a detached, single-storey cottage in an elevated position in the friendly crofting community of Kensaleyre on the Isle of Skye, 7 miles from Portree. The cottage can sleep up to nine people in four bedrooms - one king-size double with en-suite shower, basin and WC, one double with basin and WC, one twin with basin and one single - and a double bed settee in the snug. There is also a bathroom with bath, hand-held shower, separate sh...ower, basin and WC. The living accommodation consists of a fitted kitchen, utility, dining room (seats 8) and sitting room (seats 6) with woodburning stove. There is also a snug with bed settee. Outside there is a large patio to the side with garden furniture and a landscaped rear garden with wooden walkway, bridge and pond. Ample off road parking is also available to guests. With stunning lochside and mountain views, and the amenities of Portree within easy reach, Dun Eighre makes a great base for a holiday on the Isle of Skye.

Landscaped rear garden with wooden walkway, bridge and pond. One well-behaved pet welcome. Sorry, no smoking. Shop 7 miles, pub 5 miles. Note: There is an unfenced pond at this property - ensure children are supervised at all times.

Region: From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain’s best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.

Town: Portree is the capital town of the Isle of Skye and is home to a harbour and a great range of shops, hotels and restaurants. Visit the Aros Centre or enjoy sea kayaking, rock-climbing and good walks. Trotternish Ridge stretches for 31km of continuous cliffs, while Dunvegan Castle and the Talisker Distillery Visitor Centre are well worth a visit.Read more

Winter Short Breaks (WSB) are available at many properties in the "Winter" period - subject to availability. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. Off Season Breaks (OSB) are available at many properties in parts of the "Low" and "Mid" periods - subject to availability. The price for a 3 night break is either 75% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. OSBs can be booked within a calendar month of the start date of the holiday. "Last Minute Breaks" (LMB) are available at most properties throughout the "LOW", "MID", "HIGH", "PEAK", "XMAS" and "NEW YEAR" periods. The price for a 3 night break is either 65% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. LMBs can be booked within one week of the start date of the holiday.

  Wonderfully spacious cottage in which our family of 6, my brother and his girls and my mother stayed in great comfort. It's all very well accommodating lots of people bedroom-wise but a large party needs lots of social space too and we had that in abundance not least with the beautiful (big) back garden and hillside. Views across Loch Snizort Beag from the huge picture windows in the lounge and 2 of the bedrooms were a bonus with Skye sunsets dipping down. Lovely, friendly owners who were kind and welcoming. Kitchen was well equipped and there were lots of books and board games (though we were blessed with the weather and lived outside). Only 10 minutes from Portree so very accessible to see a lot of Skye. Highly recommended.

  We booked Dun Eighre as a last minute break. After what seemed ages looking online for a house with the right criteria, we never expected to find somewhere as nice as this.
  The place is huge, the living room especially. It had a window virtually the length of the room, with a fantastic view of the Loch, even when sitting down. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need, & the bedrooms are spacious & clean. The dining room was big enough to cater for all of us at meal times.
  We took two teenage girls with us, so the tv/dvd room kept them occupied, whilst us adults used the living room which had the benefit of an open fire.
  The place is about 10 minutes drive from the centre of Portree.
  Hopefully Dun Eighre will be available, next year, when we visit Skye.
