Saskatoon, CanadaBeautiful, relaxing, and just what we came for
Left on 07/05/2012 for a stay in May 2012
This is a fantastic find! We were so happy for the five days we spent in Positano. Thrilled with the apartment (clean, well stocked, really cute, big and beautiful patio with view of the town and the sea if you go down to garden). Right next door is a little grocery, which made things super easy to cook at home and hang out on the patio while it was sunny. This was our favourite place in Italy. I don't recommend Positano if you can't handle stairs (but there is bus service) but it's not as bad as some of the reviews said and every place you stay in Positano will be the same anyway. Totally recommend this place - we're already thinking of returning! The other Villa by same owner is right on top of this one, so if you are looking to get two apartments, these would be perfect for a group stay. I was a little nervous about renting privately, but the owner was so hospitable and we had no problems meeting up with her when we arrived. Fantastic.

The location of Villa Sebastiana B was literally next door to a well-stocked, family-run grocery store, ready access to walks in the area, down to the beach and town centre and the view from the outdoor terrace was spectacular.

Miss Margherita is a gracious host and, in case you're worried about your
Italian, she lived in New York in her youth so speaks excellent English. You
couldn't ask for a more convenient place to stay. There is an alimentari
(grocery store) next door and the Cinques who run it are friendly and
helpful. The city buses and the Sita buses stop right across the street, but
the B suite is below the street level so you don't hear much traffic. There is
a steep staircase down into town if you're in shape, but you can take the
bus or rent a scooter if you're not. The view is not the standard Positano
cityscape, but looks across the valley. The sun sets directly across from the
kitchen window. The yard is small, but comfortable. Great for relaxing after
hiking around Positano all day. There is a little yappy dog next door, but
he's usually well behaved. The villa itself is lovely, the bed is comfortable,
the shower is high tech. There is a stove, but I wish there was a microwave
(the the A unit has no stove but has a microwave). You share a door to the
street with the A unit so you'll probably meed the neighbors. Their unit has
a balcony rather than a yard.
Positano is exactly as beautiful as it looks in pictures. When I was there
most of the tourists seemed to be from other parts of Italy. Pompeii and
Capri are easy day drips from Positano and not to be missed. There is an
old paper-making mill in Amalfi (a couple of towns down the coast) that's
been turned into a museum,,,the Museo della Carta is worth looking up.
Italian people are the friendliest people I've encountered in my travels. All
of the waiters in the restaurants I tried spoke English. I ordered in Italian
and they repeated it back in English to be sure we understood each other.
Italy was having a heat wave when I was there in May. Bring shorts,
sandals, and light clothing for this time of year.
I want to say special thanks to Andrea at Summer in Italy for helping with
customs. -

CanadaBeautiful

Our stay at the Villa Sebastiana B in Positano was beautiful and relaxing. Easy to find and a short walking distance to the beach and restaurants. Especially ideal, was the little store located right next door to the villa which carried many basic items. The villa was clean and roomy with a beautiful patio outside with a decent view. We found the kitchen had a great selection of dishes and pots and pans if you wanted to cook a meal for yourself...the one item we could not find was a corkscrew. We would definitely stay there again.
