      amazing place !

Left on 09/21/2012 for a stay in July 2012

We stayed 14 days at "La Tagliata" to spend our summer holidays. What can I say, this was the most beautiful place we've ever been! We booked a double room (La Limonella) which had enough space, nice furniture, a cosy little terrace with kitchenette and a spectacular view over the blue sea. The combination of having the sea in front and the high mountains in the back was just amazing. The owners were so nice and friendly that you just had the feeling you are a part of their family. Especially Giorgia who is incredible. She was managing all queries around the booking and helped us so much with all the sightseeing trips. We just loved her!! We cannot understand some reviews where language barriers were a big problem. We were told right at the beginning of our stay that Giorgia and Pepe are living at La Tagliata and whenever we had a question Giorgia or Pepe were there. Both speak very good English and Giorga even speaks German. We never had a problem!! The bus stop is right in front of the restaurant so there is no problem to go to Positano or other destinations from where you can easily go to Capri, Amalfi, Sorrento, Pompeji or other nice places.
The kitchen of "La Tagliata" is incredible: everything is fresh cooked and you can get all
the typical local vegetables and mediterranean food the Italian kitchen is famous for. So finally we say many many thanks to Luigi and Dorothea and their lovely family for these unforgettable holidays. We miss you so much and we are looking forward to our next summer holidays because we definitively will come back.

Self catering, great fun, Live with an Italian Family ...doesn't

Left on 09/15/2012 for a stay in September 2012

Stayed in Limonella Room, outdoor kitchen, great family run trattoria and bed and breakfast. Free access to all their gardens, zucchini, ( inc flowers to stuff), peppers, capsicums, tomatoes, basil, mint, lemons, figs, etc so you cook for yourself free of charge. The family just want you to have fun. Don't want to cook? Walk downstairs and enjoy home cooked meals, be careful the servings are very generous. Views are amazing 1000 mtrs up overlooking Positano bay. Room is clean, glassed off from bathroom area ( rather cute actually) private courtyard with large wooden gate for privacy. Expect some noise as guest arrive past your gate to restaurant but it's a gently hub bub of noise. Music nights Tuesday and Saturday, can be loud .. Answer to that ...go down and join in. It is a blast. Parking on street, my car was there for a week no troubles. Bus down to Positano, often, cheap and a thrill!!! Positano roads are very narrow. Can't speak highly enough of family Mama, Papa, Vincenzo, Pepe and antonella, Pepe's lovely wife, Giorgia ( does booking) and Uncle Salvatore.
Go there for a good time, join in .. If you want quiet 5 star, whisper quiet, black tie eating... go somewhere else. These people have fun. After 2 months in Italy in four different locations this one was the best fun.

      amazing

We spend our summer holidays in la tagliata.
We were in room la limonella, a room with a bed and air conditioning, a king size bed and a nice bathroom. The place before the room (only for the guests who stay in the room) is fantastic, you have a great view down to position, a sperate fridge (one more in the room!) and a possibility to cook!
But cooking was not necessary because of the very good quality food in the restaurant.
Also the breakfast was good, typical italian, but when you want something special, no problem for vincenzo!
Two times a week live music (very good actors), was one of the other highlights!
The bus stop is just in front of the door, you can go by bus in about 20 min. directly down to positiano.
The understanding was no problem for us, nearly everyone speaks english in a comfort way (most of the time better than myself ;-)).
We already booked for the next year!

IncredibleViews, great food, nice accomodation & language barrie

Left on 08/06/2012 for a stay in June 2012

We stayed in the LaLimonella Room and it was a nice room with a king size bed, air conditioning and wifi (typical small Italian room). The patio had beautiful views, however, you could only see them if you stood as there is a wood wall obstruction if you are sitting. The views from the restaurant were incredible and the food from their restaurant was the best we had in Positano, excellent! Our room was at the base of the main stairs to the restaurant. As a result, there was alot of foot traffic from the restaurant guests and suppliers during the day and evenings, thus not peaceful, private and quiet. The noise from the restaurant below the room, even on non-music nights, was also a drawback. The family was very nice, however, the two that spoke English did not speak it well enough to help with directions etc.If they were not at the restaruant there was no one else that could speak English. This communication barrier was also apparent as it related to booking our week. What we thought we were getting based on the Trip advisor add was not what we got due to the Italian to English issue. Breakfast was ok, an Italian Breakfast. The unit is also 20 minutes from town by bus, a very long walk without transportation.

Response from GIUSEPPE BARBA - 10/13/2012

      GIUSEPPE BARBA

      Owner

      Dear Madame ,
I remember you and I 'm no surprise to read your complain I waited for it . I 'm here now to post an honest reply to all that you wrote about my property , my family .
Yes I confirm the Limonella is a small lovely room ( no sure what you desire expressed written an ITALIAN small room ) if you prefer a bigger room maybe you have to book a suite in a 5 starts spending of course more that what I quoteD ( I 'd like to point here again that we are the only VACATION RENTAL that provide free of charge parking, breakfast , cleaning during the week twice with two laundry changed , electricity free of charge and a special welcome with a testing of our antipasti ) we of course granted that to you even if it seems that you did no appreciate never mind we did with pleasure as always .
In my link is well posted that both of my units are associated to the main restaurant so that during lunch / dinner time is laud whithin 11.30 p.m. all our guests never complain about that as it is well written in my listing and in order I write that again when they request availability , I explain everything about my property as we are AN HONEST ITALIAN FAMILY ( only ) but thanks again for remark that . When I explain to my guests that we offer a great deal to have all included with breakfast , parking , final cleaning , vegetables form our gardens , cleaning during the week twice with twon laundry changed ( provided by my mother and yes I confirm mum only is able to say hello , how are you ? But the kindness I guess are more value that a perfect English ) All my guests that have rented in the past have been happy to be part of the restauarnt life for the week they are always glad to picked up some Italian tradition from the kitchen and from our biologic gardens ( I know are only Italian vegetables but thanks Good the others guests loved that )Every day of the week all my guests are welcomed by mum and dad .( they are only an ITALIAN couple ) but with a big heart and sorry I confirm that they do no speack English , my mum has the roule to care for the rooms cleaning and luandry ( she did a very good job ) and my father cares for breakfast and food ( an ITALIAN food first on trip advisor as Positano restauarnt). So for that reasons they can no help with informations, direction as for that I 'm always at completely disposal of all my guests leaving close to the restaurant BUT you NEVER asked for me or docked my door I can not be in your mind and know what you need to know without asking!! And as last my English is picked up from the school is no great for have medical sceince, politics, algebraic geometry , the financial world etc
but of course it is more than sufficent to provide information and details on the matter of dircetions, bus schedule etc..YOUR COMPLAIN ABOUT THAT IS ABSURD!! As final some information about transportation. My property is no located in AFRICA but in Positano high side but to go down the town every hour there is a public bus that provide riders IF YOU HAVE BEEN NO ABLE TO TAKE A BUS FOR SURE IT IS NO MY FAULT!!.
On that matter I remark that my property is located on Montepertuso a small village that belongs to Positano for that rasons is no crowed and tourist and offer an amazing view particular from the room balcony ( I did no post a pitcure that is no the true the room has an amazing view and the wood yop mentioned it has been fixed for give more privacy to our guests .However that do no change the view of the Limonella but thnaks for the suggestion once take off the wood we of course have an opened view the same from the restaurant if you are seating at your ceramic table by the balcony .
I take the chance to inform all the people that are reading my reply or that can be interest to rent my property to have a look also to the many reviews I collected in the past with my properties FK410000 and FK219021 becasue .
(AS COMPLAIN YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE BAD . !!!)
I take also the opportunity to inform you that I'm the same person that the lady mentioned about LANGUAGE BARRIE !!

      Wow Beyond words!

La Limonella is located below the restaurant. What's so nice is that the property has fresh vegetables growing and even have an area with livestock. They allow you to walk the property and help yourself to any vegetables you might want. You will truly feel like part of this Italian family once you stay here. Mama, Papa, Giorgia, Pepino, Vincenzo and antoinetta. Giorgia was wonderful to work with prior to our arrival. Antoinetta gave us a warm welcome with hugs and insisted on helping us with our luggage even though you basically have your own private elevator to the accommodation. Once you descend to the level of your room, you walk through a stone walled wine cellar with Salami's hanging from the ceiling while curing. The room is fresh and clean and modern. You have a lovely king or maybe Queen size bed, modern bathroom with a glass stall shower, a deep jacuzzi in front of the window with the panoramic view of the amalfi Coast with no obstructions. You have a 2nd door that takes you out to your private patio with an outdoor kitchen with tables and chairs. Every morning Vincenzo makes you a beautiful and plentiful breakfast. (You have the whole restaurant to yourself during breakfast!). We enjoyed peaking our head in the kitchen watching them prepare the food for the evenings meal. We also enjoyed talking and interacting with our new family! Breakfast is complimentary and included in their very reasonable nightly rates. Free parking on the street. We even rode the city bus at times and it was reliable and quick and cheap. Dinner at the La Tagliata restaurant is an absolute must (especially on the nights when they have live music). I can go on and on but if you want a place that is reasonable, with alot of character/charisma with great food slightly removed from the touristy crowds, this is the place for you!

We had a wonderful time - 14 days - at La Tagliata in Montepertuso. This was mainly because we experienced the great hospitality by our Italian hosts. Right from the beginning we felt as part of the family which was really great. Our hosts antonietta,Vincenzo,Pepino, Giulia, Salvatore, Papa et Mama were so kind and did everything that we feel comfortable. If you want to eat great Tagliata, Bistecca Fiorentina and Sassicia, go there!
