(Minimum of one week rental required) Minimum rental one week rental Saturday to Saturday except for urban apartments. To experience a glimpse into the true Mediterranean lifestyle one need look no further than Villa Ammaliare. Set amidst lush Bougainvillea and scented orange trees, on a steep mountain slope above the charming town of Positano, the property offers a pleasing combination of refinement and comfort. Equipped with a private pool (unusual for homes in Positano), a beautiful garden terrace, a full-time staff (cook, maid, gardener and porter service), the villa caters to every possible whim.
The villa's elegant interiors are e...nriched with interesting objects of art, beautiful paintings, antiques and sculpture. The warm and inviting ambiance of Villa Ammaliare is a direct reflection of the owner's personal style. Access to the property is via a winding staircase of 130 steps leading from the main road.
Please note that due to the steepness of the 120 steps down to the public beach, extreme care is needed for young children. A second, independent annex/apartment (sleeping four) is available for rent, price upon request. The simply furnished annex lies below the villa and boasts a living area with high ceilings, a dining table and four chairs, two double bedrooms (one with en-suite bathroom), two showers and a seaside terrace. The annex does not offer any kitchen facilities, so guests must use the kitchen in the main villa. The owner occasionally occupies this second apartment so inquiries into its availability must be made at time of booking. The property's entrance leads onto a large, spectacular garden terrace, which is decorated with potted plants, flowers, statues, bronze sculptures and is surrounded by lush Mediterranean flora. Large umbrellas offer shaded areas throughout the garden and the covered, outside dining area is furnished with a marble-topped, iron dining table and eight chairs. A built-in bench lines the terrace while small coffee tables and iron chairs allow for cocktail space and extra seating. The pool and patio are set amid the garden and offer inspiring views of the shimmering sea and dramatic coastline.
The Ground floor of Villa Ammaliare is spacious and elegant with high vaulted ceilings, terracotta tiled floors, antique wooden furniture, bronze sculptures, art objects and decorative lamps. Both the living and dining room have large, open fireplaces and French doors that open out onto the terrace. The living room is furnished with a sofa, two small tables, comfortable armchairs, an antique writing desk, TV, DVD and stereo. The dining room, with seating for eight, provides the perfect setting in which to enjoy the delicious meals prepared by the cook. For independent-minded chefs, the large, modern kitchen is fully equipped with a dishwasher, two electric ovens, a six-range stovetop, barbecue grill, blender, juicer, refrigerator with ice maker/freezer and a table with chairs. Also on this floor is a private study with a library and 2-twin beds. Adjacent is a small bathroom with a bathtub. A second, double bedroom, is furnished with wrought-iron twin beds, terracotta floors, a window with garden views and a bathroom with bathtub.
27 steps lead up to the first floor where you will find two spacious, double bedrooms, each comfortably furnished with a queen-size bed, wardrobe, open fireplace and telephone. One enjoys a TV and chaise lounge/sofa chair. Both bedrooms have French doors which open onto the fully furnished terrace, providing the guest with spectacular sea views. Two bathrooms, one with a bathtub and the second with shower, lie adjacent to each bedroom. Maid & Cook: A maid and cook take care of the villa 8 hours per day, 5 days a week((Monday through Friday), assuring guests the highest standards of housekeeping and cuisine. Gardener comes twice a week. Porter service available for no extra charge upon request. Boat rentals are available at the main beach below the villa and local bus transportation is conveniently located at the entrance to the property.
Note: The pool is open April 30-October 29. Although Positano is a small town, and distances are quite short, outings always involve the vertical. The best strategy for enjoying Positano is to walk downward and use the local bus for upward. The town traffic is one way so all cars and buses travel in a big circle. The bus service is fairly well organized and easy to understand, with the terminal located near the entrance of the pedestrian area. Buses depart approx. every 15 minutes and offer various pickup/dropoff points along the way.Read more
