Walkers and hikers will love this elegant Amalfi Coast rental near Positano, Italy. Though there are lots of steps at the villa and in the charming town of Positano, you'll be thankful for them after enjoying the sumptuous Italian cuisine! This Amalfi Coast holiday accommodation will welcome you home at the end of your days of exploration, with original architecture, antiques, many terraces, and best of all, an exquisite view.

Built in the 18th Century, this 2-story villa is an ancestral family home conveniently located along the beautiful road which winds its way through town. The entry into the villa is 5 steps from the street level.... It has many terraces on both levels, each beautifully planted with bougainvillea, jasmine, roses, and lemon trees, with stunning views over the sea and the village of Positano. There are pergolas on the terraces, each equipped with a garden table and four chairs. Because of the stone composition of the villa and the surrounding plant life, the house is naturally cool in the summer and warm in the winter. There are parking spaces 100 meters away which must be reserved in advance.

Ground Floor: The entryway leads into a small sitting room with fireplace and French windows opening to a terrace. Also opening onto a terrace with garden area is the dining room, with antique Tuscan table and seating for eight. There is another fireplace in the room. A few steps from the dining area are the pantry and a large kitchen, with washing machine and ironing facilities, dishwasher, toaster, oven, coffee maker, 2 different refrigerators, and breakfast room with seating for six. There are French windows opening to another terrace. There is a bathroom on this level, complete with wash basin, toilet, and shower.

First floor: Opening onto another terrace is a study with an extensive library, table and chairs, and a sofa bed, comfortable for one person. All three bedrooms have two single beds in the room, which can be joined together as king-size beds upon request. Each bedroom has French windows leading to a shared terrace. Two bathrooms are shared. One has a wash basin, toilet, and shower, while the other has a wash basin, toilet, and tub with handheld showerhead.

The villa in the Fornillo area sits above Positano, along the via Pasitea, the beautiful road that winds through the town. Walk about 350 steps down a winding path, and you will be at the beach. Or walk up, and at the top of the hill is a little shopping area of Positano. Shops, restaurants, and grocery stores are within easy walking distance. It takes only about 20 minutes to walk into the center of town. The village of Positano is located in one of the most beautiful valleys of the Amalfi Coast, and the valley opens up to an equally magnificent stretch of coastline. At the center of the pedestrian maze of cobblestone alleys and steps, you can see the traditional brightly colored dome of Santa Maria Assunta, the main church of Positano. As well as completing the picturesque view of this Southern Italian town, the church is also a very important part of daily life for many local inhabitants. Even though Positano is such a beautiful town, you will want to venture further, into the surrounding areas of Ravello, Sorrento, and Amalfi. You can take a bus, taxi, or ferry to reach the other towns along the coast. Blue SITA busses cost about 1-2 euros, depending on destination. Stops are marked with a blue and white SITA sign. The small internal bus [orange mini-bus] of Positano is marked by a brown FERMATA sign.

  It was very nice. Our expectations were for a wonderful trip and villa, and they were met. Positano is a great little town. Good workout walking up and down the hills.
  
  We sat outside under the lemon tree canopy most every afternoon-evening.
  
  The furniture inside was kind of on the smallish side, so we didn't use the living areas much.
  
  Lots of good restaurants in walking distance.

  It was lovely. The owner called us to see if everything was alright. He also sent over a bottle of Prosecco with his card - such a nice gesture. I highly recommend this property.

  It's a great villa for several people, very spacious and a great kitchen! We cooked a big dinner one night and had all the cookware and dishes that we needed. We wished it was closer to the heart of Positano, but the bus stop was close by.

  It is just elegant. Nothing more can be said.
  
  The property was an elegant estate. We were the only two people in it, so we cannot comment on the second and third bedrooms, although they seemed fine. The setting is of course what makes it all happen. It is not for those who don't want to walk, but if you don't walk, don't go to Positano. I cannot identify a feature, only to say that the villa went beyond my expectations.
  
  There is nothing negative. As I said about the best part of the property, it is probably the worst part. There are a lot of steps. For me, that is not only the charm of Positano, but allowed me to return home not feeling bloated from the wonderful food in the area and without exercise. It depends on your view as to the steps. The same is true of the noise. While you are generally above it, you can hear the cars, scooters and cycles, but that cannot be avoided if you want to be where the action is. My experience is such that I would gladly rent the place again.
  
  Positano is paradise as are all the local areas. Since we were there last year and explored the area, we didn't travel out as much, although we took the trip to Capri, which is beautiful, but no more beautiful that Positano.

  Everything was really perfect. The property could not have been more beautiful and elegant. It had multiple bedrooms and fabulous terraces. If I were to go back to Positano, I would likely only stay at this villa. The maid service and the local representative could not have been better. We met the villa's owner who was also very gracious.
  Grocery stores were within easy walking distance. Although the hills were steep or the option was a more direct route using the stairs, the walking was invigorating. Alternatively, there was regular bus transportation up or down the hill for only 1 Euro.
