A spectacular view and a very kind host

Left on 01/20/2013 for a stay in August 2012

Last august my husband and teenage son spent two weeks in this great appartment. It is very spacious both inside and out - the terrace has some of the most spectacular views you can imagine on the amalfi coast. The accommodation is well equipped and spotlessly clean. The little town of Priano has a few good bars and restaurants but is not at all touristy. However you do need to be fairly fit as there are over 140 steps leading up to this appartment. Our holiday had not got got off to a good start as all our money and cards were stolen in Naples Station. Our charming host, Adrianna, was exceptionally kind to us on our arrival and lent us enough money for the first few days of our holiday. Indeed she was very kind and helpful throughout our stay.

We had a 3-week stay at Casa Ubaldina...

Left on 11/16/2012 for a stay in September 2012

We had a 3-week stay at Casa Ubaldina last September and enjoyed it absolutely!
The villa is very clean, light and spacious will beautiful dome-like ceilings, each (each!) room has a sea view.
The terrace is a real treat: it has a dining table and a bbq which we enjoyed almost each night; a couple of sun chairs and sun beds (enough for all guests). Besides the terrace has as well a superb direct sea view.
Fresh meat&poultry;, fish, grocery store, taxi, bus stop - all very close, just 120 steps down (very close as you meet quite a lot of steps anywhere in Praiano).
The nearest beach is 120+330 steps from villa (mind that you need to go 330 steps to the beach irrespectively of where you stay, so the location of Villa Ubaldina is only 120 steps up from the central square where the road to the beach begins, really very close).
Adriana, the host, is remarkably helpful!!! She lives downstairs and at your disposal at any moment. Adriana showed us everything we needed (shops, beach, restaurants, etc), she can also help with some guided tours, renting a boat, etc if you ask.
      Villa is very highly recommended!

Would not recommend Praiano in general to older travellers or people with disabilities - only for 1-day trips not for long vocation - because a lot of steps are everywhere, 330-steps access to the beach.

This place is paradise; perfect vacation villa.

Left on 07/05/2012 for a stay in June 2012

I took my daughter to the amalfi Coast for her HS graduation gift. We did a lot of research before choosing summerinitaly to rent our villa. The owner, Mrs. Adriana, had a lemon cake waiting for us upon arrival. Praiano is the perfect location for visiting the other spectacular towns, Ravello, Amalfi, Positano and Sorrento. We even took a day trip to Capri and one to Pompeii.

Praiano proved to be an excellent location for exploring the ama

Left on 01/06/2012 for a stay in May 2011

Casa Ubaldina is a delightful apartment which is very spacious and has a generous outdoor area with a magnificent vista which will live in your memory forever. The owner was a charming woman who lives downstairs and was happy to answer any queries. The local store was located at the foot of the steps to the apartment and the local Sita bus was located there also. We enjoyed the village atmosphere of Praiano and the local people.

Thank you Summer in Italy for your great website and for answering any queries promptly when requested.

      Amazing! We loved it!

Left on 09/11/2011 for a stay in September 2011

As other reviewers have noted, the pictures do not do this little villa justice! My wife and I traveled to Praiano with her sister and her sister's boyfriend for a week's holiday and loved the place. It has two bathrooms which we found to be key with two couples. The views are amazing, so many gorgeous sunsets. If you drive there definitely get the parking, it's worth it. There's a great terrace, the bedrooms are large and spacious and have air conditioning. There's a garden with a grill and the kitchen is stocked with all the utensils and dishes you need for cooking. Oh and there's wifi and satellite tv for keeping in touch with the outside world if you really want to. The landlady lives downstairs, in case there's a problem (we didn't have any) you can just knock on her door or call. And yes there are stairs that go up up up. Once you watch the locals do it you realize it's not that bad if you take your time. There's a market and butcher shop at the foot of the stairs by the piazza, which is great for making use of the grill (buy the charcoal and starter next door to the market). There's also a fishmonger up the street who is open in the am. There's a bar and tabacchi shop at the bottom too where you can get gelato and bus tickets. Praiano is a quiet area which is really nice. It's a great point to explore the amalfi Coast from. Easy to take buses to Positano and back. Being at the top of the stairs means you don't have to go too far to start the Sentieri degli dei hike if you want to. It's an amazing hike from Praiano to Positano with incredible views. Casa Ubaldina was a great place at a great value. We loved it and would go back in a heartbeat!

Great location with amazing views in the centre of the amalfi Co

Left on 08/18/2011 for a stay in August 2011

We stayed here for two weeks - the first several days was with some friends so our kids slept on the sofa beds in the lounge room. There was plenty of space for 6 people with the two bathrooms (both showers) and the main bedroom is so large that it could easily accommodate a babycot or other sleeping arrangements for small children. The apartment is simply but comfortably furnished and the long balcony and the view is truly amazing - the photos just dont do it justice. There is enough space if people want to be inside or outside, and the bbq area is a real bonus. We ate outside most days because who wouldnt want to soak in the view. The kitchen had the basics and we were able to manage with what was there but it would not be possible to cook anything too complicated with the pots/pans available. The rooms were airconditioned, so it was still comfortable to sleep in with the windows closed at night. Initially the steps up to the Villa seemed a bit daunting (132 approximately) but you do get used to them and the kids (4 and 5) enjoyed making a race out of it and the adults found it good exercise. Fortunately we were able to pay for a car space separately which really is essential if you decide to drive - we didnt use the car a lot and caught the local buses to Positano and amalfi. However the car was good for longer trips to Pompei and Paestrum. If you want to have a nice place to base yourself and be comfortable without having to pay a fortune then this is a great place. We have no problem in recommending this property and hope to visit again. Given the space it would also be a good base if you had a group of people renting different places in the area as the huge balcony could easily accommodate a number of people for drinks/dinner etc. Praiano is well located and there are a number of beaches close by - most require access via stairs or ramps so be prepared for additional exercise to get to the beach. Beach access in amalfi and Positano is easier but is also more crowded.

Fantastic opportunity to see the best of amalfi Coast as it is

Left on 10/04/2010 for a stay in September 2010

We rented Casa Ubaldina in September and stayed for 5 days. We found the place very clean and exactly as advertised. The owners were super nice. (We arrived after 10 PM, and it was pouring rain. The owner met us with extra umbrellas, and her husband took the heaviest bag up. A fresh pizza was waiting for us in the kitchen simply because the owner expected that we will be exhausted.)

The view from the apartment (not only from the terrace) is great. Half of the amalfi Coast is in front of you, including a nice church right below, Positano and Capri with its Faraglioni. The terrace is huge. There is also a small garden with BBQ (which we didn’t use).

Praiano is a great little village, not very touristy comparing with Positano or amalfi. And it’s right in the middle between the two, which is very convenient if you want to explore the Coast. All the shops are close by as well as bus stops.

A private parking was available. I can’t say it’s the most convenient parking in the world. However, after I saw how people are parking on amalfi Coast, I definitely appreciated what kind of luxury parking I’ve got.

The apartment is very spacious and convenient with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and sofa bed in the leaving room. The place accommodated five of us without any problem.

Overall, great option for your vacation providing you don’t mind about 130 steps (which are probably good for your health anyway, although I have to admit you may or may not think this way climbing up).

Casa Ubaldina in Praiano is an exellent vacation Home

Left on 09/29/2010 for a stay in June 2010

We have been in Praiano in June 2010. Casa Ubaldina's owner was very-very kind and helpful. The house is very romantic and its terrace has an unbelievable view to the sea and amalfi Coast including Positano.
Every necessary shops, restaurants, bus stops are within walking distance. It is easy to travel to other cities, villages or even the Island of Capri.
Its a two hour trip with public transport to get there from Naples and also a two hour trip to go to Pompei from here.

Let me say in generally that our holiday in Praiano was one of our most romantic holiday - thanks to Summer In Italy and Signora andrea of Casa Ubaldina :-)
