What Past Guests Are Saying
Avoid at all costs!
This property suffers from a number of failings. First, it does not sleep 10 people - it sleeps 6. The bedroom on the bottom floor is damp and smells bad - we could not use it. Second, the kitchen is very poorly equipped. Third, the overall property is run down and needs basic maintenance. It is clearly being run simply to suck money out and put nothing back in. Fourth, there is only parking for one car - but really they can let you park two cars - for an extra 20 euros per night - all part of the squeeze. Fifth - the "manager" is useless - he's most interested in trying to sell you a boat trip with his "friend" and very little else. He speaks next to no english. We would never return to this property - at any price.
Response from Summer In Italy - 11/20/2012
I am very sorry to hear that you had such a disappointing experience. Following your feedback, we have scheduled an inspection to the villa, although we have had good feedback from other guests who have stayed at this villa during the season, both on the villa itself and on the helpfulness of Saverio, the manager, who is not part of our staff but who is employed by the owner.
We believe that this villa, for location (in the heart of the village, with an amazing view of the sea, easy access without too many stairs) and amenities (private swimming pool, dishwasher, washing machine), at the rental price of 54 euro per person per night offers a good value. It is a private home, and as such might have some shortcomings, however its pricing level is positioned on the lower side of the scale, reaching a good compromise between cost and amenities.
It is my understanding that the biggest part of the reason for writing such a negative review is having been made pay for a parking space.
It must be said, in the first place, that the villa is clearly advertised for having a parking space for one car only. The reason for this is that the owner is only able to provide one parking space. If he had two parking spaces, he would provide two parking spaces, and would advertise two parking spaces. Since the villa is easily accessible by public transportation, and since most people do not rent a car while visiting the Amalfi Coast, to avoid the trouble of driving it and parking it, this is usually not a problem.
Given your request to park two cars near the villa (free-of-charge parking is available on the outskirts of the village, but this villa is in the center of it), Saverio did the best he could, arranging for a relative of the owner, who is not involved in the rental business, to let you use his own parking pace, in order to accommodate your desire. The price asked, which was not paid to the villa owner, is aligned with the daily cost of parking a car along the Amalfi Coast -- which is expensive, although still less than what you pay at most airports, for example.
I hope that I have been able to explain about the parking situation, and I hope that this information will be useful to future guests. I would only like to add that we were not informed that you were arriving with two cars, or we would have explained the above to you in advance.
As a final note, I would like to say that, although the boat trips arranged by Saverio (an employee of the owner's, and not of our company) are outside the scope of our business, we have had good feedback from past guests about them. For many tourists these are the highlight of their trip. I think that Saverio, in his limited English, was only trying to be helpful.

The place was great and the staff was absolutely wonderful.
