      Awesome

Left on 12/01/2012 for a stay in November 2012

We stayed here over Thanksgiving weekend 2012. This cabin was a rare case where it was better than expected. The cabin was immaculate. The views are great and we had everything we needed. The staff at Mountain Home Rentals was very friendly and courteous. We will be back. If you only could have done a little with all the wind we had that weekend...

      Fun On the Yellowstone

Left on 04/02/2012 for a stay in March 2012

My wife and I live in Townsend, MT and were looking for a place nearby to celebrate our anniversary. The main criteria for us were hot tub and dogs allowed. This place offered us that and more. We trully appreciated that our dogs were able to join us at this dream house/location.

Staying on the Yellowstone River in Paradise Valley is an experience that all outdoor enthusiasts should enjoy. There is not a more beautiful valley in all of Montana, with plenty to see and do. The house is immaculate and well designed with room for 8. Great place to relax at and to use for cooking home meals. Neighbors are close on either side but there is reasonable privacy and seclusion. Overall, a good value and all will leave wishing they could stay for a longer time period.

      Cozy, clean, and beautiful.

Left on 02/07/2012 for a stay in February 2012

The cabin was easy to reserve and was well received by all in our family! It was cozy, the beds were very comfortable, and the kitchen had everything we needed. It was so close to everything we wanted to do over a long weekend - snowshoeing, cross country skiing in Yellowstone, and soaking at Chico Hot Springs. And a quick reply to an anxious grandma about a portable crib for a grandson! We are already talking about how much fun it can be for a summer get together.

      Cozy cabin with great amenities

Left on 10/26/2011 for a stay in October 2011

6 friends traveling from Philadelphia to visit Yellowstone. Great cabin with amazing views and very quite, cozy setting. Made great use of the complete kitchen and hot tub. Also had a great time playing games in the comfortable game room at night. Crock-pot chili was to die for after a long day in the park. Wish the cabin were a bit closer to the park. Although 30 minutes doesn't seem like much, it takes another 1-2 hrs to get to many parts of the park. Be ready to put on some mileage. We also took a day to go to Tetons, which takes all the day to do. Definitely one of the best times to visit the park because so few people. We had most vistas, etc to ourselves and enjoyed a day of hiking as well.

      Fabulous Cabin!

Left on 09/30/2011 for a stay in September 2011

We stayed here for our 25th anniversary trip. It was large for our needs, since it was just the two of us. We didn't use the upstairs (with the bunkbeds and futon) at all, but it was nice to have the extra space.

The cabin was well stocked with towels, kitchen supplies, etc. Everything worked well.

The deck looking out on the Yellowstone river and the scenery was breathtaking. We loved the hot tub after a long day driving in Yellowstone.

      We will definitely be back!

Awesome visit! Very scenic! Mosquitoes are killer!

Left on 08/14/2011 for a stay in July 2011

We visited the cabin in July. It is positioned right on Yellowstone river. The grass is a bit high and the mosquitoes were swarming, so we didn't get to go down to the river at the cabin. The cabin furnishings are great, and its very clean. Easily sleeps 8! The service was great, they called to check on our needs during our stay. Its a bit of a drive into yellowstone, and if you are whitewater rafting in gallatin, then plan a day of driving. That said, everything there is a drive,(from the perspective of a couple of city slickers) so take electronics for the kids. We went white water rafting and ziplining in gallitin, and visted bozeman a couple of times. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The only thing that would have been more perfect is a few citronella candles, and a lawn mower! The hot tub is great for watching the sun set, just gotta duke it out with the sqitos for space! theres a local store in livingston, which is a pretty cool little town to visit! buy some off and raid...does wonders! We'd rent here again ! We had 4 teen boys, so the loft was perfect, beware, the floor is thin so there's not much privacy between the loft and the first floor bedroom! The family room in the basement was loaded with games, they have a cooler for packing in lunches and drinks for the road trip. don't be fooled though, if you are going to see old faithful, plan on a 2.0 hr drive, while the distance isnt long, the roads are curvy, and scenery stops take longer than you think,...so plan lots of time. It's a big beautiful park with lots to see, so stop and gos were our favorite part! I would recommend a visit, and if you want some privacy this is a great place to stay!

      Hello TXMom -

Thanks for your review of your stay at the Yellowstone Lookout Cabin. Those darn mosquitoes this year. We do usually have a few weeks in June-ish when they are pesky, but this year we had June flooding of the Yellowstone River that left lots of moist meadows - mosquito heaven. They were definitely thicker and more long lasting this summer. The good news is that they are mostly gone now. And next year we plan to be pro-active and do some early season spraying to try to keep them away. My apologies for the lawn. Our caretaker is there once a week to mow. But for the rest of your stay - I'm glad you were so happy with the cabin. We love it, too!

Left on 07/28/2011 for a stay in July 2011

We loved the home, but not the mosquitos...they made it impossible to enjoy being outside the cabin. The cabin is 40 min. from Yellowstone. Thought it was closer to the North Entrance than it was. If we could remove the mosquitos and move the house closer to the park, it would be absolutely perfect!

      Yellowstone Dream vacation

Left on 07/23/2011 for a stay in July 2011

We had a wonderful time on our visit to Montana/Yellowstone. The cabin is perfect. Very clean with extremly comfortable beds. We saw lots of deer around the area. Saw alot of wildlife within the park. We cooked almost every meal at the cabin and it is well stocked. Also enjoyed having washing detergent, soap, paper products and kitchen basics provided. Our only complaint was the horrible mosquitoes. There were swarms all around the cabin and hundreds would attack the minute you stepped out the door. We are from Mississippi and are pretty used top mosquitoes but these were worse than the ones around here! For the benefit of readers though, I think they were so bad during our stay due to the record highs of the river. It is also quite a drive into YS. About 45 minutes. Very beautiful drive though so definately will consider staying again!

      Fun in the hot tub!!

      Very nice cabin!

Left on 07/09/2011 for a stay in June 2011

We enjoyed the Yellowstone Lookout Cabin very much. The cabin was spacious, well appointed and nicely decorated. The kitchen was well stocked and had everything we needed. The bedrooms ad bathrooms were nicely stocked, plenty spacious and very clean.

The views were magnificent! The river was very high and we enjoyed watching it flow by. The hot tub was comfortable for three, although it could have been a little warmer.

The only negative that we had during our stay was the severity of the mosquitos. It was difficult to enjoy the hot tub most evenings and we were swarmed as soon as the car pulled into the driveway.

Great deck to sit and watch the Yellowstone River roll by!

Wonderful home is peaceful, relaxing and beautiful setting

Left on 07/01/2011 for a stay in June 2011

Yellowstone Lookout cabin was a wonderful home, complete with all of the ammenities we could hope for. It was impecibly decorated, very clean and comfortable. The setting was magnificant. Our kids loved the loft area and the bunk beds and the yard for playing. The hot tub was a great treat at the end of the day. My parents also travelled with us and the lower level was a perfect "retreat" for them. Our only slight disappointment was the distance of the cabin from Yellowstone Nat'l Park. This is mostly because we didn't anticipate the amount of driving there would be once we reached the park entrance. That said, we sure enjoyed the tranquility and beauty of the home once we returned at the end of the day. Yellowstone Lookout Cabin is a wonderful home that I highly recommend to anyone staying in the area!

A perfect, picturesque, luxurious winter get-away with mountains

Left on 01/12/2011 for a stay in December 2010

The drive in was easy. We were looking for a winter get-away in the mountains with views of mountain peaks without having to drive through switch-backs (since we weren't driving a truck). From the easy drive on the valley floor into Pray, the river only a stone's throw away from the cabin, listening to the river flow from one of the most relaxing outdoor hot tubs I've ever sat in, to the 360 deg views of mountains, the vacation home was perfect. The owners left very nice touches throughout the cabin. Everything about the experience was great. I loved the mix of people gathering at the local hot springs at night!

      The Perfect Mountain Vacation

Left on 01/03/2011 for a stay in December 2010

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Lookout Cabin for 5 days during the winter months. The pictures of the cabin are beautiful but they don't do the place justice. You need to see the full view around the cabin to really appreciate it. The mountain valley the cabin is in is breathtaking - gorgeous mountain peaks everywhere you look. The hot tub overlooking the river and the mountains is very private and a magical place to sit.

We were worried about the cabin being remote and inaccessible, but its extremely easy to drive to and from the cabin. Close to town, beautiful hikes, Yellowstone National Park, natural hot springs, etc.

The cabin was clean, well maintained and extremely cozy. Lots and lots of room. We couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay. Detailed instructions were left for everything in the house. The owners were fantastic to work with - really kind and accommodating. They made everything comfortable every step of the way.

This was one of the most perfect vacations of my life. Don't hesitate to stay here if you're considering it. Beautiful, beautiful place.

The Yellowstone Lookout cabin was perfect for my wife and I. The photos don't do it justice. It appears to be brand new and is literally on the banks of the Yellowstone River. It was spotlessly clean and had every necessity we needed. The north entrance to Yellowstone is about 25 miles away. Though there were only 2 of us this trip, the cabin will easily sleep 6.

When we walked in the door we knew we had made a wise choice! We found that the home was immaculate from top to bottom. It was very spacious (we really enjoyed the 2 living rooms and the nook area in the loft so our group could spread out) and was a perfect spot for our group to get together for a long weekend. The location on the river offered great access to fishing and floating. We especially enjoyed star gazing while sitting in the hot tub at night! We wish we could have stayed longer.

The house & the location is excellent. The amenities & supplied are plentiful. The only complaint I have is the corners of the loft area & the stairway are dusty & I found 1 bug on one of the bunk bed. The rest of the house seems to be very cleaned including the bathrooms. And the path to the river needs some work. It was very very muddy & we can't walk through at all. Overall a very nice experience.

Hello Fay - Thank you for posting with your candid comments about your stay at Yellowstone Lookout Cabin. We appreciate you sharing your thoughts and I'm happy to hear that overall it was "very good". I'm sorry that you found that the cleaning could have been a bit better. We expect all of our homes to be in top shape so I greatly appreciate hearing about it if we ever slip. I have passed your comments on to our housekeeping staff. With regard to the river path being muddy, yes, you were here during our spring runoff when mountain snows are melting and the rivers get high. River banks do get wet and muddy in the spring. That path is usually in great shape, making a nice wood chip-lined walk to the river's edge. Thank you again for staying with us and we hope you will be our guests again soon. - Suzy Hall / owner of Mountain Home Vacation Rentals

Lots of room, everything we could ask for. The kids asked on a couple of days just to stay at the cabin because they were having so much fun there. View is wonderful. Saw deer in the yard several times during our week there. Only drawback was that it was 40 minutes from Yellowstone, but we knew that going in. I would stay at this property again no questions asked. They accomodated us in every way possible. Very friendly and fast service when we needed it.
