  Just returned from two weeks on the Garden Island and split my stay between Princeville and Poipu Beach. Puu Poa #403 was bar none one of the nicest places that my wife and I have ever stayed. The 4th floor view from the lanai is gorgeous. Sunsets are spectacular and the early morning antics of dolphins in the distance is fun to watch. The condo had everything one could ask for including binoculars, Dvd's, Cd's, book and magazines highlighting the nearby sights. It was very well appointed with what looked like newer furniture and the large windows brought in plenty of sunshine yet allowed for breezes flowing in off the ocean. It is literally only a few steps to the St. Regis and less than 5 minutes away from grocery stores, restaurants, playgrounds for kids, walking and running paths as well as other vacation homes. Hanalei Bay, beach and boardwalk were very close with great swimming and sun bathing as well as magnificent views of Bali Hai. It rained only for a short while each day and we were blessed with the temperatures in the low 80's during the day and low 70's at night. Ceiling fans were all we really needed. The complex pool is close by but we never used it, opting for all the beaches nearby and heading up further north. The condo was quiet, and we hardly knew that anyone else was around. A tennis court is also right behind the building. No elevators, so be prepared to carry luggage several flights of stairs. Parking was ample and right behind our condo. Beach mats, umbrellas, chairs, and even kids pails were there for our use. Snorkeling gear was also available in a closet on the lanai. Everything that one needed to cook meals was available in the kitchen including a detailed cookbook on how to prepare fish island style. My wife and I enjoyed our 2nd trip to Kauai even better than the first, last year. September is a great time to go as the crowds are smaller, no lines in restaurants, plenty of parking spaces and the majority of kids are back in school. I firmly believe that there is nothing better than having your own condo or home rental versus staying in a hotel, no matter how luxurious they may be. Condos offer so much more privacy, room to roam and relax.
