Perfect rental - 100% as described, clean, comfy, relaxing in pa

Left on 03/10/2013 for a stay in February 2013

My husband and I were looking for a condo rental with a full kitchen and washer/dryer to relax and enjoy Kauai for about a week. This rental looked perfect so we contacted the owner via Trip advisor. He got back to me right away and and answered all my questions (and I had a lot!). The booking procedure was easy and though I had never booked a rental direct with a private owner, I was comfortable with the rental contract provided. The price was good and the property itself was great! No, the furniture was not brand new... but everything was clean, stocked and comfortable. We made full use of the kitchen and w/d. We didn't end up using the dining room table inside because we ate at the table on the balcony for every meal - great views and breezes exactly as promised! The bed was comfy and the property was fantastic. We enjoyed the beach and even used the grill by the nearby pool one night. The only thing not 100% perfect was the pool water was cold. (Hardly tragic, we hit the hot tub instead!) We had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend this property to anyone going to Kauai's north shore without hesitation.

      Everything but location

Left on 12/25/2012 for a stay in December 2012

Everything the description said was absolutely true. The condo was lovely and had everything we needed. The resort is kept very well maintained and staff are friendly and responsive. Unfortunately, due to traffic, noisy roosters at 3am onwards and location, we would not choose to stay here again. For those who wish to be in the west of the island, it would be perfect. But we wanted more than just beaches nearby so getting anywhere north or east of us, the center of activity, took at least an hour in traffic. The condo was lovely in every way, but it seemed we spent half our time driving to the places we wanted to see. Our advice - know what you want to do and choose to stay near those places. Most beautiful view while eating breakfast. Hbr 5202

Left on 10/02/2012 for a stay in September 2012

Loved everything about the Hanalei Bay Resort - unit 5202. There were beautiful views everywhere you looked. The staff was very friendly and Chuck was great to work with. The pictures he has posted are true to life. The swimming pool and hot tub were fabulous. The grounds were well maintained and had lots of beautiful flowers. Loved the fact that it is a totally non-smoking resort except in the parking lot. Kitchen was stocked well with quality pots, pans, dishes, etc.

      Outstanding - HBR 52012

Left on 09/27/2012 for a stay in August 2012

Kauai has got to be one of the most beautiful places on earth, and the Hanalei area... the best place in Kauai. Hanalei Bay Resort is tucked away in a nice community (Princeville) that provides for jogging, walking, golf, but is still close enough to Hanalei that it is just a quick drive to restaurants, shops, adventure sports, etc. The accomodations at HBR are nice, but definitely not fancy (I hear there is an update coming soon though?). They are also not "close" to the beach, but there is a golf-cart shuttle that will pick up and drop off at your door which is very convenient. These are the only reasons I didn't give 5 starts. Other than that, having a kitchen in our room was a huge advantage as there were 6 people total. We enjoyed 1-2 hour breakfasts on the patio every single day talking, being amazed by the mountains, waterfalls, and ocean view... and cursing the roosters. This really is the rooster capital of the world, but gives the entire island a neat "schtick" that you will remember forever and they really aren't that annoying. I would definitely recommend staying at HBR for a Kauai trip and would likely stay here again if we ever get the chance to revisit. By far one of the best vacations we've had!

      Beautiful Condo, Resort and View!

Left on 08/24/2012 for a stay in July 2012

This condo is exactly as advertised although the view and the grounds were even more spectacular in person. We rented both the studio and attached 1 bedroom, and it was perfect for a family of four. The kitchen was well equipped, the bathrooms were updated and clean, the living space was great, and it was a perfect home base to explore Kauai. We loved that we had beach access, and it was great that the golf carts could take us down with our kids and stuff, as the road back was a little steep for young kids. The grounds are beautiful, we played some tennis as well, and swam a lot in the pool. Wonderful experience, and Chuck was an excellent "host" and was very easy and straightforward to rent from. If you're on the fence...Go! You wont regret this amazing condo!

We absolutely loved this condo - very comfortable and roomy for 3 of us with an gorgeous view overlooking Hanalei Bay. The condo and resort were very clean, very friendly staff with great amenities. The owner was great to work with as well. If we can ever get back to the island, this is our first place to look at staying.

Would recommend it to anyone going on a honeymoon, going with children, or for older couples. My husband and I went there with our 2 friends for 10 days and we had a great time

      Heavenly stay at HBR 5201-02

Left on 10/23/2011 for a stay in July 2011

We stayed in HBR 5201-2 for six heavenly nights in July, 2011. Chuck was a pleasure to work with and everything was as stated and the condo was well-stocked. The two bedroom condo was perfect for our family of four. We came from four nights at the Hyatt in Poipu which was lovely but its manicured beauty has nothing on the natural beauty of the N. Shore as viewed from HBR 5201-2's breathtaking balcony. A condo vacation is perfect for a family--it's much easier, healthier and less expensive to prepare simple meals in the comfort of your own condo than hauling the kids around for overpriced meals. I loved waking up to the stunning view from our condo. Rainbows galore, constantly changing cloud formations, waterfalls, lush green mountains and Hanalei Bay, all from the comfort of your lanai. The kids loved the resort pools and taking the golf cart down to the beach below the resort. We walked to our favorite resort perch every night to watch the sunset with homemade cocktails in hand. We loved coming home to this comfortable condo as much as spending our days snorkeling at Tunnels. Highly recommend staying here if you're looking for a relaxing, peaceful vacation that makes everyone happy.

The resort is in a very nice area. The supplies inside the unit are rather "tired" (bedspreads, linens), and limited (drinking glasses, tableware, cooking items). We removed our shoes at the door as requested, but our feet were black from walking through the unit. The floor needs a deep cleaning. Grouting on kitchen and in bathroom needs to be redone. We still enjoyed the resort. The salt water pool was awesome! Loved the lifts we got from the guest services!

      Spectacular Location and accommodation

Left on 09/01/2011 for a stay in August 2011

Wonderful location and accommodations. Clean, comfortable and peaceful. Chuck's condo 5201/5202 had everything that we needed and more. Enough room for a family of five and the children had their own fully accommodated suite. The North Shore location was incredible and if it were not for the activities at other parts of Kauai, we would have never left the area. Beautiful sunsets, rainbows in the morning after light rainfall and a peaceful lanai to watch all of the beauty that surrounded us. The resort parking lot always seemed full but the beautiful grounds were never crowded including the salt water lagoon pool and the fresh water pool which we had all to ourselves. The shared beach with the St. Regis was peaceful and quiet and the short walk to the Hanalei Bay Beach and pier was delightful. Could not ask for a better vacation with the exception of an additional week.

Beautiful View/Great Location, Creditable Owner, Favorite Island

Left on 09/01/2011 for a stay in July 2011

Trying to decide where to go and where to stay, always a challenge. Well Chuck's Condo was perfect for my family and I. We recently vacationed in Hawaii and stayed on all 4 island. Kauai was our favorite and Chuck's condo was the perfect location on the North side of the island. It offered everything, clean accomodations, spectacular view, and easy access to all the points of interest on the North end that we were interested in visiting. Chuck made vacation rental a pleasure, and easy. Very trustworthy. and his website of information about Kauai is awesome. I would highly recommend if you are considering condo rental for your hawaii vacation, Chuck's condo is the one you want to book. Kauai's north end is lush, tropical, close to several beaches, hiking trails, everything we imagined Hawaii to be. You will not be disappointed.

Hbr 5202 - An Unbelievable accomodation!

Left on 06/21/2011 for a stay in June 2011

We booked this particular condo (HBR 5202) because of the wonderful reviews about it, though I was worried it would 'get our hopes up' and make it hard for it to meet our expectations. Not only did it meet our high standards, it exceeded them in many ways. It was clean, beautiful, and equipped with tons of 'freebies' from the owner that made it feel so much more special than just renting some random place to stay. Also, Chuck (the owner) had tons of wonderful advice, tips for activities/places to eat, and had incredible communication with us throughout the whole process (booking, questions, stay, etc.) The resort is absolutely beautiful, and the view from the balcony is simply breathtaking. I'm sort of a travel 'snob', so I've been disappointed many times about expectations being set too high - but this time, no way! This was probably one of our most favorite condo rentals to date. Yes, we will definitely be going back, and we wouldn't bother to even consider looking anywhere else for accommodations.

      Top notch experience

Left on 04/21/2011 for a stay in March 2011

After seeing this property I was so happy we decided on this particular unit. Everything was top notch, as promised, clean, comfortable with stunning views. Some of the other things I might mention is that it was located close to the front of the property, within easy access of both pools. Not all of these units are, I might add. Another thing we enjoyed was that the beds were so comfortable and the shower had awesome pressure, something that really makes my stay. Lots of things to do in the area, no matter if you simply go into town to grab a cup of chowder or shop, you are bound to enjoy the quaint feel of this quiet place. The beaches here were spectacular. The sunsets, not to be believed. Never made it out of bed for sunrise, too cushy..lol.
Grocery store within a couple of miles, the amazing "Queens Bath" a nice walk away and a golf course just steps from this locale...What more could anyone want? Be sure to try the fish tacos by the pool!...Yum!

Beautiful views with everything you could ask within minutes of the resort. Our condo was stocked with everything you could ask for. The balcony overlooked the mountains and Hanalei Bay. The 2 bedroom with 3 full size beds was perfect for 4 adults. Tennis courts, very nice pool and hot tub on site. Driving to some of the most beautiful and blue was 10 minutes away. Shopping was out of this world! We also loved the helicopter tour with Blue Hawaiian Helicopter well worth the money. Our dinner cruise with Captain andy's was wonderful and the take you right up to the Napoli Coast line - breathtaking.

      Comfortable & Reasonable for 2!

Left on 09/12/2010 for a stay in September 2010

From the beginning, correspondence with Chuck was great - very responsive and helpful with information about the island and things to do.

The condo was small with few amenities, but comfortable and very affordable for 2 people. Nice to have a mini refrigerator to stock up on cold beverages and milk for morning coffee.

Note : there is laundry on the premises, but not in this particular unit.

      Pros:
      *Very affordable
      *Close to the beach
      *HBR has a great pool
*If you play tennis, this is the place for you! Hbr has 8 courts, all of which were hoppin' our entire stay!

      Cons:
*Far (10 min drive) from the town of Hanalei to go out to breakfast, dinner, nightlife, etc.
*HBR doesn't have a bar/restaurant, so you'll have to shop and bring food & snacks into the room with you. (remains of a swim-up bar at one end of the pool are a tease!)
*Limited supply of towels for beach days - would be a good idea to stop and buy a few cheap ones for your stay

We recently spent 10 days at Hanalei Bay Resort 5201 5202. From the moment we contacted Chuck about the possibility of renting his units until we had to leave and return home, we had an extremely positive experience. The units are large and very comfortable. We spent early mornings and evenings sitting on the lanai looking out over the property, onto Hanalei Bay, and the incredible backdrop. Chuck has developed a wonderful website that provides a wealth of information about hikes, things to do, places to see each accompanied by outstanding photographs. Hanalei Bay Resort has a wonderful pool, hot tub, and 8 tennis courts, which are right out the door from units 5201 5202. In short, gorgeous part of the world, great condos, and a hassle-free rental process.

This unit is located in a prime spot on the property. Not too far from the parking lot but far enough to avoid any noise. The view from the balconies of the ocean and mountains was fantastic. One morning I counted 7 waterfalls.
The unit’s owner takes good care of the unit and everything was in perfect working order. The furniture was comfortable and in great shape.

The resort has a fabulous pool and hot tub. My recommendation, after 27 holes of golf jump into the hot tub then stand under the pool’s waterfall. Follow that by a nice nap on the balcony and you are ready for dinner at one of the fine local restaurants. Try the chowder at Dolphin’s that is my favorite.
