Oakland, CARelaxation and adventure!
Left on 05/06/2013 for a stay in April 2013
This condo was excellent! The view from the patio, and even straight from the bed, is world class. The beautiful gardens and landscaping at Hanalei Bay Resort were tropical perfection. Tons of beautiful flowers and birds right outside your window. The pool is gorgeous, but I preferred going down to the beach. There is great snorkeling down at the beach, and snagging a delicious cocktail at the St. Regis is so fun. Seriously, their cocktails are amazing, pricey, but amazing.
Staying here was so very comfortable and easy. The kitchenette had all the necessary items and appliances. The bed was so comfortable! The condo owners clearly know how to hit the beach, as the closets were stocked with 2 beach chairs, cooler, beach umbrella sand toys for kids. So thoughtful.
It was my first trip to Princeville. I loved how close we were to all kinds of adventurous activities, beautiful beaches and conveniences. I walked to Queens Bath. Hideaways beach is also walkable. We did the Princeville Ranch zip lining and had a blast. We were a short drive from the epic beaches on the other side of Hanalei, and the Kalulau trail. Eating in Hanalei was awesome. I wish I would have been able to eat more meals each day so that I could have checked out more places. Even with all the great options of things to do, there was one day on our trip when it poured down rain. I took advantage of the lanai, and lounged all day reading and enjoying the view.
So in summary, it was a beautiful, comfortable, convenient, perfectly located condo. I can't wait to come back!

My boyfriend and I arrived in Kauai on March 1st. It was both of our first trip to Hawaii and we did not know what to expect. We were greeted by very friendly staff and an easy check in. The condo was spacious with a lovely vaulted ceiling and a great bed!! The bathroom was very spacious for two. The big surprise came the next morning when we awoke to a gorgeous view outside of our lanai! We could see the pool and just beyond - Hanalei Bay. Gorgeous!!! And a great spot for morning coffee. We loved the location of the condo as it is in the middle of the North Shore attractions. We would defiantly recommend the condo to others. A great pool and hot tub, and a short walk to the beach :)

Enjoyed our stay at the Richards' condo so very much. The beautiful scenery - the towering mountains, Hanalei Bay, and the lovely grounds and exotic swimming pools...all viewed from the balcony...hard to beat! The condo was comfortable, totally clean, and well-appointed. The entire experience at Hanalei Bay Resort was memorable; it was difficult to leave. Have already recommended the Richards' Apt. #3506 to several friends and business associates.

Culver City, CaliforniaExcellent location and amazing views
Left on 08/02/2012 for a stay in July 2012
My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon in mid July and the condo definitely lived up to or exceeded all of our expectations! Hanalei Bay Resort is well located with an easy walk to the beach shared with the St. Regis (I read some reviews that this was a difficult walk, but neither of us found it difficult at all) and we were even able to walk to Hideaways Beach, although this is a longer walk and much more difficult to climb down to. The resort also has a beautiful pool and hot tub and tons of tennis courts, although we never actually found time to play. The condo itself is on the 3rd (top) floor and as such provides amazing views of the mountains and Hanalei Bay! In fact, one of our favorite things to do was eat breakfast on the lanai and just look at the spectacular views. The condo is about the size of a large traditional hotel room, and was a perfect size for just the two of us. It also has a small kitchen area with a mini-fridge, microwave, toaster, and coffee maker. I noticed there were also electric burners in the cabinets that you could plug in on the counter top to cook, but we never used it and instead opted for "no cook" meals (yogurt, fresh fruit, sandwiches, etc) and going out to dinner. I would say the only thing that could have made our experience better was if there was a restaurant or bar on site as some days we were so tired from our day's activities that it was a bit of a mission to get in our car to go get food. However, the St. Regis lobby bar was a really good option as it is just down the street and has free valet parking. We went there one night to watch the sunset (spectacular views!) and had excellent drinks and split a few appetizers which was perfect for us. Overall, we were exceptionally pleased with everything about the condo and would stay there again in a heartbeat!

My husband and I just got back from a 10 day wonderful vacation here. Everything I read about this home.. its location and the ameneties were exactly as Ginny said they would be. This was such a beautiful and functional home that we spent most of our evening eating supper and enjoying the view on the Lanai. I found cooking there not to be an issue. Anything we needed for our day 10 days stay (including the cooler and chairs) to help us out on our many daily trips in the area was an added bonus. Loved the beach chairs so much so Ginny that we have ordered 2 online. :) I now have calves of steel from walking the hill to the beach so many times even though the staff are more than welcome to take and fetch you in the golf cart.. The location of the room was excellent for us. We liked that the parking lot was behind us. It was very quiet despite the fact there were many cars. It made getting to the room easier after a long day out. I will definately be going back to stay here in the future. We did get lost getting to the resort when we first arrived. The water fountains which are the land marks were not operational that evening and so we missed the turn off even though we had directions. It was dark and we were very tired after a 22 hrs day to get there. I would recommend getting there when it is light. We had stopped off to get groceries in a town further South and that made us later getting there. I would suggest checking in and getting the keys first, then going shopping at foodland in PriceVille where you will get better discounts with the card that is on the key chain for the room. Food can be pricey otherwise. Staff at the resort are wonderful and always willing to help. If I had any other questions Ginny was only at the end of an email to help me out. Thanks for such wonderful memories Ginny.

Victoria, B.C.Wonderful place to enjoy holiday
Left on 03/14/2012 for a stay in February 2012
This unit is well located on the top floor, with a beautiful view overlooking the pool area with its palm trees. Hanalei Bay and its spectacular mountain backdrop are visible from the suite. The owners and resort staff were very accommodating and pleasant to deal with. The suite itself was nicely appointed, nicely furnished, had a small kitchen with everything we needed, and was perfectly clean. The resort has a beautiful pool, hot whirlpool, and tennis courts, all of which we enjoyed. Close to Hanalei Bay and other beaches on the north shore, making for a nice place to holiday. We would definitely like to stay here again.

Ginny,
We had a wonderful time! The condo exceeded our expectations in every way. I wouldn't let my Husband put the luggage inside until I had taken pictures. The flowers were an extra added unexpected touch and they smelled soo.. good. Everything we needed was at our finger tips. We loved it so much that we ate out infrequently preferring to get food and bringing it back to eat with a nice glass of wine. One of the wine glasses was cracked. Don't know if we did it or not but labeled it so it could be replaced or removed. We will recommend to our friends and stay there when and if we return to Kauai.
Thank you again,
Judy & Bob

san FranciscoBest side of the Island, awesome value, awesome place to stay
Left on 05/08/2011 for a stay in April 2011
What a fantastic 9 night stay on this magical island. Staying at the North shore in Princeville was the best choice, as it allowed for a more quaint and beautiful experience of the island.
The unit 1306 was perfect for 2. Adequate space, well kept and clean, and ideally situated in the complex close to the pool, lobby, parking, etc. Getting in and out was so simple. The owners clearly keep the place up as the place is updated given the age of the resort itself. The only "negative" and I hate to even suggest it was negative is that there isn't daily maid service/towel swaps/sheet exchange unless you call and schedule/pay for it. However, as a vacation rental you should know this is typical. In the spirit of aloha, keep things clean and in order and this negative really means nothing, but you should be prepared for it if you're used to hotel stays.
Working with Ginny to rent the unit was so simple and fair. She's a pleasure to work with and the unit is a fantastic option that I would surely return to when Kauai calls us back. I highly recommend this place and if you have more than 2 in your party, I think you can rent 1305 and 1306.
As a very picky person, I was pleased with the value, convenience, cleanliness, resort staff, etc. Top to bottom this is a much better option than staying at th $700/night St. Regis next door. Yes, it's beautiful too, but the magic of this island is truly in the island itself and if you are planning to hole yourself in your hotel room your whole stay, then perhaps go somewhere other than kauai.
I love you kauai and I'm sad I'm gone. Are you selling your condo Ginny???

What a great place! Sitting on the lanai, taking in the Hanalei view, specially in a rain shower, was awesome!
We enjoyed the tropical pool and spa, walks to the beaches, and the quick drive to Hanalei town to take in the local flavor.
Hanalei Beach itself is a paradise. And you are so close to it and all the other north Shore beaches, trails, shops, restaurants, etc.
Thanks so much for the "user friendly," easy, immaculate and seemingly so new accommodations.
We loved it and can't wait to return!
Sincerely,
Bill and Kathy

Beautiful, amazing and mysterious place. Numerous small empty beaches with possibilities for long swims toward the reef or snorkeling between corrals and shore rocks. Paradise for tennis lovers. Eight courts in very good conditions, tennis clinics every day and chance to meet new friends to play matches the whole day with a short break for relaxing swimming. Small but complete kitchen in the comfortable studio we rented allow you to have a delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner at home, which we usually served at the huge balcony with a beautiful view of the Bay. Sometimes we went out for dinner to explore local sea food places, and our favorite place was an amazing italian restaurant within walking distance from our resort. I recommend to explore local farmer's markets and try delicious mangos, avocados - our favorite. We found some local places where you can enjoy fresh young coconuts and treat yourself with a perfect grilled wild boar served in the open field by the mountain's foot.
After a long beautiful hike along the Napali Coast, it was good to relax your tired mussels by swimming and yoga. Our resort had an amazing opportunity to take yoga classes with very spiritual teachers, it was a very positive, relaxing and healing experience. In general, this place is absolutely amazing, we would like to stay here much longer. Dear Ginny and Dick, thank you very much for the warm and kind welcome!!! See you next year!!! -

Colorado SpringsDoes It Get any Better?
Left on 03/13/2011 for a stay in February 2011
Sitting on the lanai of the exquisite condo owned and elegantly furnished by Dick and Ginny Richards, we reveled in the peaceful island ambience - a backdrop of deep blue skies behind the steep, green mountains of ancient Kauai painting a background for a vista framed by the lush grounds of the Hanalea Bay Resort with its palm trees and fragrant flowers, saltwater pool and tennis courts, doves and cardinals and the inland's signature chickens. Does is get any better, we asked ourselves. Not likely. For one of those rare experiences that linger in the mind ever after, this is the destination of choice. Unit #1306. Highly and warmly recommended.

Ginny I can not even begin to express the peace I felt relaxing in your beautiful condo. The ocean view filtered through the lush garden and magnificent palm trees was amazing. I just wanted to lay in bed and gaze out to the peaceful view. But was glad I walked out to the beautiful pool and swam every day in the refreshing salt water. My stay was more wonderful than I could ever antisapated. I will return many times to recapture the beauty and peacefull atmosphere and stay in your lovely condo. Thank you for all the fine touches.
