White Bear Lake, MN, United StatesREVIEW OF ROOM 246
Left on 04/02/2013 for a stay in March 2013
Our stay was generally very nice. Two big irritations was there were no plastic glasses and mostly the toilet paper which ran out. How can anyone go into a store and buy only 1 roll of toilet paper. This alone would make me reconsider staying there again. Very cheesy for the money we paid.

Moss Beach, CA, United StatesLovely stay
Left on 01/04/2013 for a stay in January 2013
Lovely condo, nicely appointed with a beautiful view, great furniture and updated appliances. There was one cleanliness issue -- lots of dead bug stains on the upstairs bedspread -- but otherwise immaculate.
Three hints to the owners: 1. lighter lampshades (you have to tilt these to read); 2. Just one nonstick pan (we spent too much time soaking, scraping and scrubbing); 3. Add a reclining lounge chair for the deck (some of us like to take a nap in the shade).
Thank you! -

Pali Ke Kua #246 is the mirror image of #245 next door, where we stayed last year, and it's equally spectacular, positioned above the ocean cliff with stunning views of rainbows and whales. #246 is even more nicely appointed, with an updated stove, nice furniture, every possible amenity and a cushy-comfortable king bed in the master bedroom. And the property managers (ReMax) were complete pros, arranging everything perfectly and even providing a rental car voucher that saved us about $500. (Plus one of their realtors showed us some great properties.)
However, one major caveat... the second bedroom here, unlike #245, is not a real bedroom -- it's a loft over the living room. There's no door to close for privacy and no window for airflow, and the bed is a queen (not a king) positioned right in front of the bathroom door. It'll work great for the kids in a family of four, but this unit would not be suitable for two romantic couples traveling together, as #245 would. -
Hutto, TX, United StatesAmazing, gorgeous, convenient, peaceful, spacious, light

Amazing location, beautiful home. I was a little nervous about the loft situation but it was effectively a second bedroom. The TV upstairs died mid-stay but I assume it will be replaced (plus there were two others). Very convenient to the St. Regis, where we attended a wedding. I

Great location on the cliff top. Well maintained, very neat, clean. Easy to move in and out of for a short stay. Hanalei area is stunning. Watch out for the Pali Ke Kua private beach. A bit hard to find, steep path but stunning views, nice rock pools, barbecue facilities.

Left on 05/04/2012 for a stay in April 2012
We found the property to be exceptionally clean and the view from the balcony was amazing. The management company were exemplary, even emailing us about a delay because of road maintenance.
Our only complaint was that during our 2 week stay there were four couples staying in the condo below for about 11 days and after dark some of them would get out on chairs and smoke! We had to get off our Lanai and close all the front windows! I guess if you are a smoker you wouldn't mind but that left an unpleasant impression on us.
We would pass this information on to our friends. -

Dragoer, Denmark, DenmarkThe weather was the only problem
Left on 03/14/2012 for a stay in March 2012
Overall, we were very pleased with our stay in #246. The only problem - which didn't have anything to do with the property - was that we unfortunately had lousy weather (rain, rain, rain) most of the time. But apart from that, the condo met our expectations.

As the title suggests, this condo was an incredible place to stay while on the north shore! Very nicely furnished and very clean. View of the ocean was very nice. We saw whales, spinner dolphins and much more right from our lanai! Mahalo!

It was in a perfect location....sunrise and sunset!! The condo was well maintained!! Views of the ocean spectacular!! We will come back and stay at Pali Ke Kua. If, you had a hammock on the patio it would have been beautifully spectacular to swing out
there while the waves crashed on the shoreline!! Next trip....one request "HAMMOCK" -

League City, TexasPali Ke Kua Good Choice...Condo #201 Not so much
Left on 11/10/2010 for a stay in September 2010
Kauai Vacation Rentals were very good to work with. The property at Pali Ke Kua is very clean with well manicured grounds. The view is incredible. Both ocean and specatular view of mountains and Bali Hai. Condo 201 is the first bldg closest to the street. Steps up to condo and steps down when you get inside. Would not work for someone with disabilities. You don't need an alarm clock because you start to hear car traffic promptly at 4:45am. Assume it is people going to work at St. Regis at the end of the street. The bed had an old mattress that was very lumpy & sagged in the middle. Long since needing replacing. Condo has no a/C but who cares..leave the screens open & fans on..with ocean breezes you actually get chilled. The afternoon although gets the direct West sun. Can get warm. Upstairs is perfect for leaving the doors open at night. The condo has all the kitchen utensils, beach chairs, washer & dryer. The condo was fine other than the mattress. The path to the beach is very strenuous. The local surfers park in bldg #1 lot taking up visitor prkg to surf from Hideways Beach. Hideaways is very popular for snorkeling too. Can be difficult on good surfing days, but they leave by night fall. Hanalei is 10 minutes away & lots of fun. Don't forget to get a shave ice with the macadamia nut ice cream at Paradise. Hanalaei Dolphin is very good...sit outside to enjoy the incredible view. Grocery store in Princeville 5 min away. Ask to sign up for customer rewards card to get great discounts on your purchase. Same applies for Safeway in Kapaa. If you have a rewards card on the Mainland (ex:Randalls - look it up by your phone number) it works too. Real savings! There is a Walmart, Kmart & Costco on the island. The shave ice at Ono Ono Shave Ice is huge with lots of flavors to choose from. We will return to Pali Ke Kua again & again, just pick another bldg & condo. The views are incredible from many of the other blgs also.

Chatanooga, TNWhale Watching from our living room.
Left on 04/27/2008 for a stay in April 2008
We have stayed at Pal Ke Kua twice and I would stay there again. The location is fabulous if you like/love the North Shore. On both visits our condo had breath taking views of the ocean and cliffs. During our March/April stay we were able to whale watch from the balcony and living room. My only reservation about # 246 was that the living room furnisher was very uncomfortable - new pieces would greatly enhance this unit. On the other hand, the beds were geat and we really appreciated the DVDs, games and books provided by the owners.

Northbrook, ILGail Z.'s review of Pali Ke Kua #246
Left on 04/12/2008 for a stay in September 2007
We have been to Hawaii 15 times. Most of the vacations we stayed on the island of Kauai because it has always been our favorite. This was the first time we stayed in a condo and it was the BEST experience. This condo had everything we needed or wanted. The only one small down side was lack of AC. We had a few nights with very hot and humid evenings without any breeze and it was difficult to sleep.

Rifle, COAn excellent condo with great whale watching every morning!
Left on 04/09/2008 for a stay in March 2008
Loved every minute there! This was the best of three condos that we stayed at during our trip and would not expect to find any better at this price. You can expect all the comforts of home plus some. We were amazed with the number of whales that we saw every morning. We will be back next year!
