Hbr met expectations for tennis vacation despite ongoing constru
One of the best views on the planet from condo and tennis courts. Hbr staff was great. Unit 6301-2 was beautiful. Tennis pro Corley and pro-shop staff were very accommodating. Looking forward to doing it again.

These units have everything you will need to spend a week or more in Princeville. We had 6301 and 2. Enough room for all 6 of us with no crowding. The lanai has the most spectacular view of Hanalei Bay both dawn and dusk. We loved every moment sitting out there enjoying nature.
This unit is on the 3rd floor not good for those who don't do stairs well. There is no elevator. But the golf cart fellow will help you take your bags up and down stairs. No other drawbacks except the roosters at early light :)
A gorgeous location with a clueless staff
Our condo (6301-02) was situated with a beautiful view of the ocean but the staff didn't have a clue what was going on. Construction crews on-site shutting down the power for the day with no warning...We asked for information and directions to scenic spots and the "concierge" was wrong just about every time. The guys driving the carts down to the beach would race by you with no one aboard when you were trying to get down to the shoreline. You could wait as long as a half an hour. The pool was dirty...we used the pool at the St.Regis next door. It's too bad because the location is ideal...they simply need a crash course in guest relations. Very frustrating.
This rental offers exceptional ocean, bay and Bali Hai views. It was spacious and well equipped. It was evident that the owner loves to travel and collects eastern religious and folk art pieces and masks to decorate the unit. More interesting than the typical island themed and coordinated interiors that abound. All mattresses could use replacement as well as the washer/dryer. Also we're not advised by property manager of long scheduled construction upgrades of timeshare units in the building we were staying at.
The Hanalei Bay Resort in general is one of our favorite places to stay in all of Hawaii for its views, location and beach access. One of it's strong points is usually the big pool but there were filtration problems during our stay and they are still using port a pottys for pool restrooms so we avoided the big pool. The small pool was ok. Otherwise the staff and service were fine. Construction of the lobby, restaurant and bar continue but did not generally impact our stay.

Truthfully I will never rent from this company again. I feel I was misinformed and the unit was not what I agreed to. It was for 4 adults and 2 children
Not 6 adults. The twin beds were childsize and bed in 6301 was very uncomfortable. Not up to a standard I would think at the Hanalei Bay Resort. (This is my 4th time there)
When I wrote to them upon completion I received no reply.
When I was booking, I even spoke with a manager about the beds, making sure they were good quality before booking as that is very important.
I felt I deserve a partial refund. I am very disappointed.
Response from Oceanfront Realty, Inc - 05/28/2013
A letter from the owner:
This condo has one of the best Hanalei Bay and Bali Hai views at Hanalei Bay Resort. It offers panoramic, unobstructed views from every window in the unit.
My property manager, Oceanfront Realty, guarantees that their units will be clean and have everything in working order upon every guests' arrival. Oceanfront Realty has a large maintenance and housekeeping team available 24/7 to respond to any unexpected issues. Though the comfort of a mattress is usually a matter of opinion, Oceanfront still responded to the call that the twin mattresses in the loft were unsatisfactory. They responded by purchasing two mattresses to replace the ones that were complained about. It is unfortunate that the guest did not appreciate these efforts. As for the king bed in 6301, that they found uncomfortable, it is a new bed with a plush, new mattress topper. Because of this I could not authorize a replacement.
I was the next guest to arrive on the same day as their departure. I was greeted by the housekeeper, who reported that the unit required extra hours of cleaning, above and beyond the normal amount. Also, a few inventory items had to be replaced. Therefore, I asked my agent to contact the guest to recover some of the cost of getting the unit back to its original condition.
I take great pride in making my unit very comfortable and will continue to strive to meet and exceed our guests expectations.

All in all, our trip to Hanalei Bay Resort 6301-2 was very nice. We brought our granddaughter and her friend and wanted a home atmosphere rather then two hotel rooms. The accommodations were spacious, well equipped and maintained; and although a little dated, it was very comfortable and everything worked. The resort itself is mostly under construction so amenities like a restaurant, and food and drinks served at the pool, are missing, but peaceful it was (as long as crowing roosters don't bother you). That's, Kauai!

Clean and comfortable condo in Paradise
My family spent a lovely week at HBR unit 6301-2. The two units together very comfortably accommodated myself, husband and our two young children; and my parents enjoyed their connected but separate room in unit 6302 (complete with its own mini-fridge, microwave and coffee maker). The views of Hanalei Bay are breath-taking; this top floor unit offers unobstructed views. The large lanai is a wonderful place to have meals and enjoy the scenery. The condo is a bit dated in its furnishings, but it is quite comfortable, functional and very clean. We were not at all disappointed. The bedrooms are large - in the bedroom in the main unit we had a full size rental crib for our baby and brought a twin mattress down from the loft for our four year old to sleep on, and we were all very comfortable. The bedroom in unit 6302 is even larger. The loft in the main unit has two twin beds and would be a great area for older kids to sleep. There are newer flat screen TVs with DVD players in each bedroom and the living room - great for vacationing with family.
The only complaint I have about the unit is the dryer - it is old and rusty with a lint-trap that is out of the dark ages. Hopefully the owners will replace it soon, it is a bit scary.
Hanalei Bay Resort is a nice, small resort. My limited experience with staff was fine, they were all very pleasant. The beach is lovely - you have to walk down a paved path that is a bit steep, but you can call for a golf cart to bring you up or down if necessary. The pools look nice, but apparently are not heated. That is probably fine most of the time, but the week we were there was cloudy and a bit cold, and the big pool was absolutely freezing. We didn't use it much (the ocean was much warmer), which is too bad considering we were there with little kids.
Other reviews I read of the resort complained about the walk from the parking lot, but I didn't think the walk was any more than any other resort I have stayed at in Hawaii.

Very comforable and easy.
We booked last minute when our vrbo reservation was unexpectly cancelled. The resort was very accomodating to my older mother with golf cart rides anywhere she needed on the resort. It was a perfect place to take her and have downtime between the north shore activities we booked. One room was a seperate suite which worked well when my brother added his girlfriend to the trip and all went very smoothly. We had picked up lobster at the costco in Lihue before making the drive to Hanalei and there was a fantastic BBQ area to entertain ourselves with cooking in the evening. A little disappointed there was no restaurant on the resort - apparently there had recently been a fire. Otherwise very nice. Careful using the dryer in the suite - has some rough edges for some reason in the back vent.
Our family of 5 stayed in HBR 6301-2 at the end of July and early August 2009. In previous visits to the Islands, we have stayed at hotel resorts and tried to "squeeze" everyone into one room, and then pay the hotels for exorbitantly priced breakfast, lunch and dinners. Those days are over. This unit had more than ample room to give everyone their space, place to eat breakfast, and a resort "feel" at the pool and tennis courts....perfect combination of it all! On top of it is unit 6301-2 with its fantastic view and wonderfully decorated accommodations. The only thing that needs to change is the mattress in the master bedroom. I can sleep on most any bed, but this one was a challenge. I would add that the other beds in the unit were perfect though. Last point is that Oceanfront Realty did an excellent job of getting this unit ready for us and was fantastic to work with. I think that there may have been a Flip key review that mentioned cleanliness for this unit, but for us (and we can be picky) it simply was not a problem at all. Thanks to Robyn and Cindy at Oceanfront for the first class service.
