Description from owner

Description

Self Catering Farm House near Ballymena in Northern Ireland with free Wifi.

The property was featured in the Yorkshire Post travel section of the weekend magazine on 29th June 2013.

The house is set on a sixty-acre farm at the top of the Antrim plateau.
The breath taking beautiful scenic view covers the rolling hills of Co. Antrim and County Derry.
Montalto sits approximately 1 mile from the residential hamlet of Newtowncrommelin. Directly out of the other side of the village is the scenic route to the coast, which is 20 minutes drive away.
The house being at the top of the Antrim plateau means visitors are only a ten minute drive away from the Glens of Antrim and Glenariffe forest walks and forty five minutes away from one of the Seven Wonders of the World the Giants Causeway. The property is 50 minutes away from Belfast which now hosts the fabulous Titanic museum and about an hour away from the city of culture, Derry.

The great shopping town of Ballymena is only a twenty minute drive away.
The famous Antrim coastline is amongst the most spectacular in Europe and the Glens of Antrim along with much of the coastline here is under the stewardship of the National Trust.
Walking and cycling and golf are fabulous, with coastal and Antrim Glens walks giving spectacular viewpoints, and Golf courses aplenty.
There is lots of information on things to do and places to go at the house, but Ballymena Tourist Information Centre at the Braid are very helpful should you wish to plan your days in advance of your arrival.

The property has 4 bedrooms with beautiful views of the Glenravel valley. There are two living rooms, giving enough space for those that want to sit quietly and read and those that choose to watch television. Both living rooms have an open fire. There is an enclosed garden to the front of the house. The rental includes a starter pack of fuel for the fires, heating and electricity.

“A spacious traditional farmhouse with lots of character with a great view”

Reviewed 28 Aug 2020

We felt very welcome, with a bottle of wine as well as bread and some delicious chocolate muffins on arrival. Everything we needed under the sink was there too as well as tea and condiments. We were very impressed with the size of all four double bedrooms and the two large reception rooms plus dining room. With two pianos, and other lovely touches such as a harp and a spinning wheel there was real character to this traditionally decorated farmhouse. The private garden would have been wonderful to enjoy had we been more fortunate with the weather. We enjoyed walking the beaches at Cushendun and Cushendall along with trips to Ballycastle, Portstewart and Portrush. We felt the benefit of the sturdy walls during the storm and enjoyed reading the Irish Cookbooks. It was a great place to entertain our visitors who came from Belfast and Ballintrae. We also appreciated the old photos which gave the place a historic feel.
