Description from owner

Description

The cottage is situated in a small ancient quiet Fishing Village, 50 yards from the harbour and is only a few minutes from Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire,. Recently refurbished and extended to a high standard, it's an old fishermans cottage, which has been totally renovated, with modern interior.

We bought No 5 Mid Street, Rosehearty, on 20th January 2006. It had been empty for 12 years prior to that. Kenny then carried out a full renovation of the property, including removing all the inside of the house except the midway timbers and the stairs. The roof was all re tiled and walls reinsulated & sheeted, windows and doors replaced. The extension was built on to the back for the kitchen and bathroom. Central Heating was installed. It was completed 11th September 2009.

We now have a fantastic old, Aberdeen Granite house dating back to 1839 with a first class modern interior situated 60 yards from the harbour. The rooms are spacious and has a lovely enclosed gardens to the rear.

The Royal Burgh of Rosehearty is situated 4 miles west of Fraserburgh, with a population of approx 1250.

It has one shop (50 yards away), three pubs, Butchers/Post Office and a 9 hole Golf Club, Pitsligo Castle built in 1424.

Rosehearty is one of the oldest sea ports in Scotland dating back to the 14th Century. During the nineteenth century herring boom, there were 12 curing houses and its fishing fleet supported 600 people.

It is also 4 miles from New Aberdour, 18 miles from Macduff and 19 miles from Banff and 48 miles from Aberdeen.

Following the coast road into Pittulie and Sandhaven, the seals lie sunbathing every day on the rocks just past Sandhaven Harbour.

“What a Gem of a place!..”

This cottage is a gem of a place. You can see that love, care and attention has gone into every detail and it shows. Stepping in through the door and feeling at home was a lovely feeling. Kenny has thought of everything and has done a fabulous job of renovating this cottage. Rosehearty is a lovely little place and ideal for us and our family living nearby. This cottage is ideally placed to explore this gorgeous part of Aberdeenshire and can’t wait to return.

“Peaceful Location, Beautifully looked after cottage, lots to do”

Reviewed 17 Aug 2021

We were so pleased with Creel Cottage. It was absolutely immaculately clean, very nicely looked after and equipped with all you could need. The lady who looked after the keys was so friendly and helpful, and the Village of Rosehearty was beautiful. Lovely to see the pictures of the renovation of Creel Cottage. Would highly recommend staying here to anyone. Thank you!

“Lovely Cottage”

Reviewed 9 May 2021

We stayed here for a mid week break. Really nice cottage, very homely and great contact from Kenny the owner. The cottage has an ensuite double room downstairs and upstairs has a room with 3 singles and a room with a double and a single. The kitchen is well kitted out, dishwasher, kettle, microwave and plenty of crockery/cutlery and cookware. The living room is very cosy and warm. In fact the whole house is toasty with the heating on (unseasonably cold weather when we visited) It's very peaceful in Rosehearty, just off the main road but no traffic noise at all. We would definitely stay again. If I had to pick something to change it would be the bedding, the mattresses definitely would benefit from a topper or replacement but that's probably just a personal preference. Key pick up easy with Angela across the road who is lovely and helpful. Overall, if you are looking for a base in the North East you won't get a nicer area or a nicer cottage.

“The Creel Dec 2019”

Reviewed 19 Dec 2019

Stayed at the Creel whilst visiting relatives in Fraserburgh. Kenny provided accurate directions to the cottage and we were given a warm welcome by Angela when we collected the keys. The cottage has been renovated to a very high standard, was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed to make our stay both comfortable and enjoyable. Local Pub (Davron) served a nice meal and the cottage is only a minutes walk from the harbour and local shop. Would highly recommend the Creel and will stay again ion our next visit to Fraserburgh.
