From sunrise flooding the breakfast area until the last rays of the sun set over the moors, the entire house glows with the beauty of Nantucket’s ever-changing light. Custom built and brimming with unique architectural details and appointments of the highest quality, it is a house sophisticated enough for entertaining but comfortable enough to just kick off your flip flops, put on some music and relax after a tough day at the beach. “Incandescence” is decorated in a warm English country style with plenty of antique pine and beachy white and blue decor. And although this large (4,800 square foot) house comfortably sleeps 12, it is chock full of unpretentious places, intimate spaces, and the quirky little hideaways that make a classic Nantucket home linger forever in your memory ...
The Bedrooms and Baths: 'Incandescence' is spacious enough for two or even three families to vacation together. Each of the five bedrooms has its own beautifully tiled en suite bath, and there are two half baths off the 'public' rooms. The huge master bedroom on the second floor boasts a king bed, a private covered balcony, and a spa-sized, luxurious, tumbled-marble bath with a jacuzzi tub, from which there are beautiful views across Tom Nevers and out to sea. The master bath also has his & her sinks and a large two-person, glass-enclosed shower with double shower-heads and multiple wall jets. Two of the bedrooms on the first floor - one with a king bed, and one with a queen bed and a futon - are off a large, private hallway. Both rooms are large (particularly the king), and could easily serve as second 'masters' when two or three families vacation together. Another bedroom with two twins is off the living area. Bedroom #5 has a queen bed and is on the second floor.
The 'Living' Areas: The living room features cathedral ceilings, high gable windows, a wood burning fireplace, and French doors out to the deck, which is equipped with table, chairs, umbrella, gas grill and an outdoor shower. A wonderful gourmet kitchen with butter-yellow glazed cabinetry, limestone counters and stainless steel appliances awaits your culinary flair; an open floor plan to the large dining area allows hosts and guests to feel equally at home. Off the kitchen is a charming, inviting family room with stereo, TV and games for the whole family, plus a gas-fired fireplace to take the chill off those late summer/early Fall nights. Air conditioning, cable, high speed Internet, and WiFi allow you to remain comfortable and stay in touch, even on the “Far Away Land. (Sorry, no pets in house, only in the separately-rented cottage - inquire for details.)

Response from the owner It is hard to say which we love more: when families like yours come three or four generations strong and everyone has a great time or when we talk to the great-grandfolks who tell tales about when they first visited the Island eight decades back. Nantucket is a place that can get into your heart and stay there forever. It's lovely to see young children catching the magic from their grandfolks. I hope we'll be seeing them - and the grandchildren soon-to-come - sometime again. It's a great summer ritual.
