Description
La Cressonniere
We are situated between St. Lo and Coutances, north east of Cerisy la Salle, an hour and a quarter from the Caen ferries, an hour from Cherbourg and one hour from Caen airport- these are true travel times! We are half an hour from the Atlantic beaches (Hautville sur Mer, Annoville, Montmartin sur Mer etc) and forty minutes from the Normandy Landing beaches.
The Gite is part of a 400 year old Longere set in 10 acres of pasture with mature trees and gardens with a stream in the lower meadows. All of this area is available for guests to enjoy apart from the fields occupied by our 4 horses.
The Gite is set well back from a very quiet lane with no near neighbours but close to all amenities. The village of Cerisy la Salle is just over a mile away with two boulangeries, a charcuterie, chemist, convenience store, doctor, bank and cafe. There is usually a different hot food stall in front of the church each evening.
This area of Normandy is ideal for child safe beaches, walking, cycling and bird-watching and the pace of life is very relaxed. There are excellent restaurants, cafes, markets and sites of interest within easy driving distance including Bayeaux and Mont St Michel.
Please note:
The gite has two bedrooms and is part of our longere/farmhouse.
Friends and family are very welcome to visit for the day but we politely request that they do not stay overnight.
La Cressonniere
Nous sommes situés entre St. Lo et Coutances, au nord-est de Cerisy la Salle, à une heure et quart des ferries de Caen, à une heure de Cherbourg et à une heure de l'aéroport de Caen. Ce sont de vrais temps de trajet! Nous sommes à une demi-heure des plages de l'Atlantique (Hautville sur Mer, Annoville, Montmartin sur Mer, etc.) et à quarante minutes des plages du débarquement.
Le gîte fait partie d'une longère vieille de 400 ans située dans un parc de 10 hectares avec des arbres matures et des jardins avec un ruisseau dans les basses prairies. Toute cette zone est disponible pour les invités à apprécier en dehors des champs occupés par nos 4 chevaux.
Le gîte est situé bien en retrait d'une ruelle très calme sans voisins proches mais proche de toutes commodités. Le village de Cerisy la Salle est à un kilomètre et demi et comprend deux boulangeries, une charcuterie, une pharmacie, un dépanneur, un médecin, une banque et un café. Chaque soir, il y a un stand de nourriture chaude différent devant l'église.
Cette région de Normandie est idéale pour les plages sûres pour les enfants, la marche, le vélo et l'observation des oiseaux. Le rythme de la vie est très détendu. Il y a d'excellents restaurants, cafés, marchés et sites d'intérêt facilement accessibles en voiture, notamment Bayeaux et le Mont St Michel.

Le gîte a deux chambres et fait partie de notre longère/ferme.
Les amis et la famille sont les bienvenus pour la journée, mais nous leur demandons poliment de ne pas passer la nuit.

“Idyllic gite with beautiful gardens”
Beautiful location with everything you could need for a peaceful and relaxing holiday. The gite is set in a large garden with a patio and awning. There is also a separate area with badminton net and another room with hot tub, table tennis table and dartboard. The owners couldn't have been nicer and more friendly, stopping for a chat every now and then. They allowed us to walk anywhere on their land, aside from the fields with animals. No traffic can be heard from the garden, it really was the most relaxing break. We visited the Normandy beaches, about 45 minutes away, and Saint Lo for a local market. Highly recommended!

“Beautiful Peaceful Place!!”
We had a lovely week in this charming cottage, which had everything we needed and was exceptionally clean! The owners are really nice people. Helpful and friendly but left us to our own devices. They kindly met us in Cerisy-la-Salle when our Sat Nav failed and as we arrived on Sunday, with all supermarkets shut at midday, it was so nice to be greeted with a few basics like bread, butter jam and wine! etc. Very kind! The gardens were beautiful and our kids loved the table tennis table, dart board and Badminton court. We had lots of nice days out, Bayeux, Mont St. Michel and the D Day beaches. A great place to relax, as it was a quiet rural location but close enough to places of interest. Thank you Janet and Chris for a wonderful week!
