| me and my friends decided we needed to get a way for a few days. the house was set up perfect for two families. everyone had there privacy and the view was spectacular. No matter what was going on we had a hard time not smiling. it truly was a great time. I will not lie time flew by while we were there and no one wanted to leave. The weather was not good all the time but we sat on the screened in porch watching the waves go by truly there is nothing more relaxing. the only suggestion we have is that in the kitchen the knifs were dull but next time we will bring our own. the crows nest was great. the view of the beaches is undescribeable. cant wait till next year to do it all again. |

| This is our second time staying at this lovely cottage. We have been blessed to be there each time for a 2 week stay. The only problem we have is in to the second week of both our stays, we experienced Noreasters (High Seas) This is a bit nerve racking when the water comes under the house. Too back N.C. goverment does not help the owners along the beach front to help kep their homes form going into the Ocean. We have been comming to N.C. Outer banks for 20 years and have observed alot of houses that are condemed or gone...TOO BAD. I sure hope this does not happen to Flying Free, my favorite by far! |

| We really enjoyed our time there. Everything we needed was there. Especially liked the set up of the house - two bedrooms and a bath on one side and two bedrooms and a bath on the other side. The house was very clean and new carpeting in the bedrooms. Loved the bird's nest. One morning I was sitting up there saw a pod of 10 dolphins. Would go back again. |

Great week in an ocean front home. Loved hearing the ocean roar right outside. Great views from the crows nest especially at sunrise. Wonderful dog friendly place.
Checking in and out couldn't have been easier or faster. |

| The entire family enjoyed their stay at Flying Free. We found it comfortable with many extras not expected. (ie., Beach toys for the kids and games for the entire family.) The unit was clean and ready upon our arrival. We spent the majority of the time during our Outerbanks stay right at the house. The beach was perfect and the sunrise and sunset view from the crows nest most exceptional. If I could suggest one thing... a blender would complete the kitchen. I would highly recommend this rental especially to anyone planning a family get-away. |

I love this home because it is right on the ocean and with the grandkids it is ideal.
Hope to come again next year and stay at the same cottage.

| This house was great! My husband, daughter, grandson, and mother-in-law LOVED this house. It was quiet and the beach is right there. A ramp would be good for more elderly or handicapped. A foot washing spigot would be nice at the door of the screened in porch too. That porch is AWESOME!!! |

A Dream Come True |

| Flying Free was a dream come true. We pulled up the street and into the driveway and all I could say was OH MY. There was our home away from home and the ocean was now our front yard. Words could not express the feeling I had inside and the feeling I still get every time I think about our vacation. The house, the ocean, the sunrises and sunsets, the widows watch, the Bodie Island Lighthouse light you can see from the roof, and on and on. The house has everything you need to live there forever. I hope to be able to call it home again, even if it is for only a week. |

| The view is astounding and being right on the beach it was an instant escape. The accommodations were so comfortable and we had everything we needed. The separation of the 4 bedrooms allows for everyone to have their own privacy and the openess of the living area with the screened porch allows for great get togethers. The economy is the only thing keeping me away right now. Having the grocieries delivered before we arrived allowed up to just relax and enjoy the view and a nice meal. We have found our "favorite" vacation getaway. |

Good for two families traveling together |
Reviewed by: Ohio OBXer from Ohio
Reviewed on: 04/23/2009 for their stay in 10/2008

The cottage is laid out with 2 bedrooms and a bathroom on each side of the cottage, with the living room and kitchen in the center. It makes it nice for two families traveling together to each have some privacy and their own bathroom.
There were many cooking utensils, but they could use some cookie sheets. The ones were there were too nasty to use. The barbeque grill was not usable- badly rusted.
The living room furniture is quite large, which crowds the livingroom. We like to do jigsaw puzzles and it was hard to find a place to set up a card table. (The legs on card table that we found in the closet tended to collapse.)
Good location. Would have been wonderful views of the beach because it is so close to the water, but the screens on the porch made it hard to look out. (The screens held moisture from the surf. We finally took one screen out so we could see better.) During a heavy surf while we were there the water washed under the cottage and across the driveway. Unfortunately, that is the risk for cottages close to the water on the Outer Banks. |
