The name of the house we stayed in, does not even come close to how wonderful the views are at this house. The house was more than we ever expected. The hiking trails behind the house, led to some great views of Black Mountain. Already booked again for next year. More...

It was beautifully located, close to town but away from the busy traffic. We found having the internet and the phone service one of the biggest advantages. Other houses we have rented did not have that feature. Hiking behind the house was very nice and the view is truly awesome.

Perfectly named, "Awesome View" has the most long-range and beautiful
view of any property we've rented in 20 years - and it was exciting to watch
the changes the weather brought to it. We kept our cameras on the foyer
bench just inside the front door, awaiting the next call to "look at it NOW!",
usually arising from one of the four recliners overlooking the view (great
place for wireless laptop access and reading while watching the rain.)

The spacious home gave our extended family of 10 plenty of room to spread
out - never on top of anyone else and it made it easy for us to retreat to our
own spaces. We enjoyed gathering to watch movies together on the big
screen - and the dining room table seats all of us at once!

There was plenty of parking for four cars with room left over to easily
maneuver. We were close enough to run to the grocery store and enjoy
Black Mountain's shops and dining at The Cellar Door (a MUST!). Our hikers
enjoyed the short but steep trails right off the back yard, and the level
grassy side yard was a favorite place for games.

The house itself is beautifully appointed with marble and tile and
comfortable high end furnishings. It seems a little sad, though, seeing
many empty picture hangers nailed into the walls - like the house was
stripped of it's "home" status. The kitchen is very basically equipped, but
with enough dishes for all of us to make it through a couple of meals before
running the dishwasher. A little thing that we didn't notice last year, but
did with the warmer weather this year, was that the downstairs bedrooms
were uncomfortably warm for sleeping. We called Greybeard, and they
quickly arrived to install window screens and brought fans - which were not
needed as much once we opened all windows. However, rainy weather
dampness was a trade off for coolness of the open windows. Nonetheless,
we love Awesome and recommend it highly!
