Wonderful Stay at Sparrow Cottage
My husband and I stayed at Sparrow Cottage with our two dogs the last week of October, and we all had a wonderful time.
The cottage's location in the Village of Cheshire, a beautiful development located just outside of Black Mountain was an ideal base for exploring Asheville and the Blue Ridge Mountains. Although it is situated among other homes, we had all the privacy we wanted and the neighborhood setting was actually quite appealing. Having the Morning Glory Cafe, The Blackbird restaurant, Black Mountain Yoga and the Cheshire tennis and fitness center all within walking distance in the development were all plusses.
The cottage was clean, comfortable and had all the amenities we needed - full kitchen, TV, wireless internet access, fireplace, two balconies - and a delicious loaf of pumpkin bread waiting for us on arrival!
Tammy and Renda with Greybeard did a great job with our booking - pleasant, painless and quick. Check-in and check-out couldn't have been easier.
Parking at the cottage, while readily available, was a bit tricky - steep driveway with loose stones - but after a few days we figured out the best place to park and the easiest way in and out of the cottage driveway. Small price to pay for a cottage located on a mountainside.
My only complaint is that they state that they provide only a "starter" quantity of paper products and advise you to buy your own for your stay. In reality, there were three full rolls of paper towel - more than enough for the week - GREAT!!! - and some tin foil, baggies and a couple of paper bowls - along with some miscellanous pantry items (thanks for having coffee filters, too!). But do your guests a favor, and just stock the bathrooms with a couple of rolls of TP, please. A bar of soap in the shower would be nice, too.
Minor comments considering how much we enjoyed Sparrow Cottage. Would highly recommend it to others! More...

Nice place - Good location - Ideal for 2 people
Nice 1 bedroom house - clean and in good condition. Steep driveway but plenty of parking. Located in a small development of nice homes and adjacent to good places to eat. Short drive to downtown Black Mountain and close to I-40 interstate to Asheville. More...

A Peaceful Honeymoon in a Unique Place
My husband and I chose Sparrow Cottage for our honeymoon in Black Mountain. The Greybeard staff made it the easiest part of our wedding planning details. They were prompt in handling our reservation and payment. They were always friendly and professional, whether we communicated by email or phone.
The Sparrow Cottage was beautiful. From the balconies with the mountain view to the stone-covered hearth, it was a cozy and comforting getaway. The comforts of home were also provided, from linens, towels, a washer/dryer, to the coffee-maker and full range of dish and cooking-wares. I couldn't have asked for anything more.
Black Moutain, and nearby Asheville, have charmed us. We intend to return again in the coming years. The locals welcomed us, giving us friendly conversation and a unique artistic city to explore. We especially loved the community's efforts to sell, encourage, and support local artists and shops.
Our favorite parts of the trip were the local community shops, and the beautiful neighborhood surrounding Sparrow Cottage. It seems like something from a Thomas Kinkade painting. Our least favorite part was the driveway. We were glad to have drive a SUV, as it was a bit steep towards the top. Overall, a spectaular vacation and we hope to return! More...

Great Cottage
We spent a week at Sparrow Cottage in May.What a great value compared to staying in a hotel room. We had spectacular views from our balcony and spent every morning out on the balcony with our coffee--there were tons of different birds and the mountains were different every morning. We loved the gas fireplace in the living room. It was also great having a gas grill to cook on. The notebook was full of useful info on sites to see and restaurants. It was a relaxing place to stay and we would recommend it to everyone.
